Owing Fantasy Records one more album after the break-up of Creedence Clearwater Revival, JOHN FOGERTY decided to throw his fans for a loop by delivering a record of country classics under the name the BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN RANGERS. Fogerty had dipped his toe in country influences on a few songs on CCR’s later records but this time he decided to jump in head first. The 1973 release did not even feature his name on the cover but the sound was unmistakably the former Creedence leader, this time playing all the instruments himself. It would have provided CCR’s audience with a much-needed lesson in C&W history but the album peaked at #47 on the charts (after nothing but Top 10 albums by Creedence). The songs on this collection are mostly the original versions but all of them are the versions that inspired Fogerty.(Mark R.)

I' m a great fan of John Fogerty and CCR since I was 13 years old, but I only discovered this album as I was quite 50 years old, and it was a beautiful surprise.
As I've enjoyed your others "collection albums", be sure that I'll enjoy also this one.
I've too much work now for making DL, so I'll DL it just for my Christmas.
