In fact, the record could be entitled, 'Welcome to Chaotic Jangleland' as the music they played was more or less the same as the one bands like The Cost of Living and The Windbreakers were making at about the same time but with a strong garage edge to it as well, which made it considerably rougher than that of the aforementioned bands. There was also a bit of Dream Syndicate-via-Velvet Underground noisy artiness in the closing track, 'Cover Me With Flowers', which would have been at home on Steve Wynn's band's 'Days of Wine and Roses' record.
All in all, this record is certainly rooted in the 1980's but it is still listenable twenty five years later. - popphiltrax:

Now two japanese act that blend modernity with tradional japanese music.
Wagakki Band is a repost from the last year but for me, apart from providing great music, are a good example of how the blend between modern music with japanese tradition music is fascinating. I've discovered them while seeing one of their first video on an italian thematic channel on manga and action figure merchandise that regurlaly post some video from asian. A lot of terrible j-pop and k-pop solo and group act but also very few good band as Maximum the Hormones and Wagakki. A great song, but also the video was very good that stimulate my desire to listen more abouth them.
the Other act is Omodaka a electronic music project that blend electronic music, at beginning mainly chiptunes, graphics and japanese traditional music, mainly Enka one of most famous japanese tradional music. I discovered Omodaka a lot of time ago while digging a now defunct blog full of japanese music and become very curios about it. Sure Was the description in the post that capture my attention. I've listen to some Enka music trough the animes and was very curios to hear how enka could fuse with electronic music. and i like it the results.

Hello,
THE DEFECTORS - BRUISED AND SATISFIED (Bad Afro Records 2006) FLAC or @320
(9) Kalle Stille
(http://www.ox-fanzine.de/web/rev/56163/reviews.207.html)
With the new album, THE DEFECTORS entered the world of Psychobilly, without losing their 60's Garage Punk roots. Maybe I should delete the term Psychobilly, but I have The Meteors very often on my mind, while listening to 'Bruised And Satisfied'. Of course, it's not wrong to mention also The Cramps here, because the album has a creepy and horror-influenced sound, and song-titles like 'Dancing Ghouls', 'Creepy Crawl' or 'I want blood' are speaking for themselves. In opposite to both legendary bands, THE DEFECTORS have a huge & heavy sound, which is not very usual for bands in this genre.
Thanks to the producer, but I can imagine, that this group also rules every small venue in their hometown in Denmark. The farfisa organ sends out a nice 1960's vibe, and is not only an additional instrument but more an important one here. Singer Mort Harder owns a frightenly intense vocals, which can be extremely aggressive as in 'Bruised and Satisfied', but also more mellow, without losing its demonic vibe. A few songs have a bittersweet mood, like 'The Final Thrill' where the band is showing their 1960's influence. Another cool track is 'I want blood', with its irresistible sexy groove, which suddenly ends with a nice idea. The album also contains some songs, I won't remember after an hour, because they are just so damn typical for this genre.
In opposite to other 1960's influenced bands from Denmark like On Trial or Baby Woodrose, this is less heavy rock but more psychotic and for my taste too obstrusive after a while. Fans of above mentioned bands should check out THE DEFECTORS, because I guess they will love 'em. I will only pick out three or four songs from the album. The label is Bad Afro Records, one of the best addresses for the varied styles, which have been born during the 60's.

Recovering my files is going good. The first batch of about
600+ Albums took 5 hours. All the rest are taking a lot longer
but that's ok, it's easier than trying to find them all and
download them again.
If you run into a problem like mine or even if you accidentally
format the wrong drive, this is the only software I've found:
EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional (It's Chinese but it
does the job.
The only problem is you slow it down if you try to use your
computer while the program is scanning.

Ken49, I know this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but here are three Beatles vs. Beastie Boys mashup albums by the talented and prolific DJ BC:
"The Beastles" and "Let It Beast": thebeastles.com/completebeastles/
"Ill Submarine": www.thebeastles.com/
Eleven volumes of Christmas mashups (plus a Chanukah mashup album): christmash.com
Garin shared a number of holiday albums in his comment above. I heartily recommend "Christmas Songs" by Mel Torme as one of the best holiday albums I've ever heard. Some songs are humorous, others sentimental; and the arrangements range from jazz to classical. Mel's voice and his sense of rhythm are impeccable. Don't miss it!
Thanks Wayne for Doo Wop Box. Excellent.
BIG thanks for the reddit mega info!
