Mikelangelo & The Tin Star "The Surf'n'Western Sounds of …"

“If Las Vegas had a beach, and a clone made from the mixed DNA of Elvis Presley and Nick Cave had a band that played surf rock on that imaginary beach, then the music Elvis Cave’s band played would sound like Mikelangelo & The Tin Star.” - Rave MagazineMikelangelo formed the Tin Star in September 2009 in Melbourne to pursue his love of instrumental guitar music and spaghetti western soundtracks of the late 50s and early 60s. The group disbanded in July 2013 with a huge farewell show in Melbourne at the Corner Hotel for the inaugural Leaps and Bounds festival. The Tin Star was born out of Canberra group the D.C.S.L.A (2000-2004) sharing the same drummer, Pete Olsen, and lead guitarist, Fiete Geier. The Tin Star included Mikelangelo on lead vocals and rhythm acoustic and electric guitar and Gareth Hill on bass. The group independently released the limited edition Floodhouse EP in February 2011, followed by the highly acclaimed album The Surf’n’Western Sounds Of Mikelangelo and the Tin Star on Laughing Outlaw records in June the same year.
The Tin Star disbanded in July 2013 and the group has no plans to reform. Mikelangelo’s love of twangy guitar remains, and this will continue to haunt his future projects… - mikelangelo.net

We had some Colorblind James here a while ago, but not the key album…and a live version on top of it...here they are:

Brause says: "Considering a Move to Memphis" is one of my favourite songs.

The Colorblind James Experience is a great combo. I have not heard their live album. Thanks for posting.

The CD of the studio album retails at around $300. For vinyl, a New Orleans record store wanted to charge $140.

Danke RYP für Mikelangelo & The Tin Star. Die sind ja absolut großartig. Zuletzt hat mir Luis schon sehr viel Spaß bereitet mit den Spaghetti-Western Soundtracks von Federale, jetzt du mit Mikelangelo. Großartig, so kanns weitergehn.
