Dreams So Real was one of the best groups to come out of Athens, GA, during that city's most fertile music decade, the '80s.![](http://web.archive.org./web/20170706144211im_/https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LCxkowN5bXk/WFkUlG1uz2I/AAAAAAAArso/wvaG5U087xE91UOgEKpHONhwgHwnyajcACLcB/s400/dreams-soreal-house-1.jpg)
One of the lesser-known guitar pop bands to emerge from the fertile Athens, GA, music scene of the mid-'80s, Dreams So Real formed in 1984. Singer/guitarist Barry Marler met bassist Trent Allen and drummer Drew Worsham in a local record store, and within a year the trio released its first single, the psychedelia-inspired "Everywhere Girl." The single was produced by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, who also helmed Dreams So Real's first full-length effort, 1986's Father's House. A featured appearance in the documentary Athens, Ga. Inside/Out followed that same year, and ultimately the trio landed a major-label deal with Arista, in 1988 releasing the harder-edged Rough Night in Jericho. 1990's Gloryline simplified Dreams So Real's approach, favoring folkier arrangements, but when the record failed to connect at radio, Arista dropped the group. They dissolved soon after, with a fanclub-only rarities compilation, Nocturnal Omissions, appearing in 1992. Five years later, Marler and Allen reunited in the group Ether. Tragically, in 2003 Worsham was shot in the face, reportedly the end result of a domestic confrontation. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide

The 2016 besides having being one the worst day for music lovers is also the date to celebrate the centennial of the birth of French-born Monégasque chansonnier Leo Ferrè
here two tribute to Ferrè Music. one made in 2016 from different artist to celebrate the centennial called Leo Eternenelle, another of 2002 is an album made by italian folk band Tetes de bois to celebrate their great love for Ferrè. A peculiarity of the album is that the last song is a collection of messages from the band answering machine and the first messagges came from Leo Ferrè partner Maria that urge the band to finish and relesea the cd.

Beat
However we might’ve missed the old Rubble series, the new ones keep comin’ so fast that they almost leave you no time to wish for another volume.
Also, in spite of some tracks that you already might’ve known for a long time, just the idea of diggin’ through a new volume every now and then, makes it worth enough, and of course, there’s always at least a tune or two that will make the experience a special one. Anyway, after the first two “new” ones, exploring the mid’60s British “cleanbeat”, and the 7 inch-sized progressive psychedelia, here we go with the third one, dedicated to “primal British beat”.
Even though it’s not really “primal” most of the time, and there may be a bit too much in the “usual covers” section, there’s still quite a few of those that will make it worth getting back to more than occasionally, like THE BLUE CHIPS’ fuzzy blue-eyed soul Spencer Davis Group impersonation Some Kind Of Lovin’, Abrahams and Bunker’s pre-Jethro Tull combo, THE TOGGERY FIVE’s Mersey ballad, recalling the ‘Blue Jean’s You’re No Good.
Then there’s the Meeky r’n’beat number Please Mr. Postman by BOBBY JAMESON, as well as the cool r’n’b pair of THE BOSTON CRABS’ Zombiefied As Long As I Have You and PETER LONDON’s Lindsay Muir-like jazzy vibe of Baby, I Like The Look Of You.
A couple of tracks that come the closest to the “primal British beat” definition, are Pete Dello’s surprisingly crude mod-stompin’ pre-Honeybus ride Make Up, Or Break Up, as delivered by MICHAEL LESLIE, the equally upbeat Tossin’ And Turnin’ by DANNY KING, backed by the formerly MOVE-ing line up of his Mayfair Set, as well as TONY COLTON’s fuzzy Loce My Mind, from his pre-Heads Hands & Feet daze. THE GOLDSTARS (Part 2) plus
ANDRE WILLIAMS with/and the GOLDSTARS
Andre Williams does not need an introduction anymore. At age 75, his career has taken him around the world and back, spanning over 50 years with more ups and downs than most people would not survive. Andre is a true survivor who continues to tour the world, write songs, write books, and generally entertain anyone sitting next to him with his stories and charisma. With this 5 song EP, Andre has teamed up with his touring band- The Goldstars, to assemble a collection of songs that reflect his current sound and attitude. One part rock, one part R&B, and one part Andre Williams- having fun and doing his thing! This is a soulful record, a dance record and a reflective record of an icon still at work as a world-class entertainer. Release Date: 2011

THE MESS MAKERS - WIPE YOUR FACE (Off The Hip 2007) @320
Wipe Your Face is the first and new disk of the Mess Makers, this Australian band is composed for members of bands as the Intercontinental Playboys, The Crusaders, The Unfuckable and others, garage-punk strongly influenced by the 60´s, that between intense riffs of guitars is present the caustic voice of Rodney Todd that transports us to a strange serenity. Record in stereo, would not be this notice if the record not also include all the tracks in mono.

WAND RECORDS SINGLES UPDATE
@Chi-Town - you're welcome
@ELtel - thanks for the link to the two missing Chuck Jackson / Maxine Brown sides.
http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/lPUab4Pf/file.html
@Daddy Cool - around that same time Burt Taylor was also cutting sides for East-West and he was a crooner-pop singer. I do believe there were some records issued on both Sceptor and Wand and Wand issued quite a few singles that were previously released on smaller local labels. I DO recall the annual re-releases of Louie Louie back in the mid-60's and several Wand releases were issued with two different B-sides and in a few cases the same B-side was used on more than one A-side. Thanks.
Dear friend Pubbi,

Thanks for the Cheater slicks, Dee-rangers & The Goldstars with André. What a day!
This is something like the tenth obscure record from the '80s I used to have that you've put out. One of my biggest regrets in life was selling a bunch of my collection during the early '90s when I was short on cash. One by one, you're putting 'em out again: The Pandoras, Gravedigger V, Battle of the Garages, etc. I appreciate you getting my collection back to me this way. Can you also bring back my 21-year-old girlfriends, my old Dodge Charger, and my youth? Thanks in advance.
Thanks RYP for Dreams So Real.
