Marcel Bontempi "Witches Spiders Frogs & Holes" Demos & Recordings 2009-2014 - 2015

The solo output of the crazy multi-talented Marcel Bontempi, including all the stuff which came out mostly in the nowadays hard-to-find 45rpm records, which often are very expensive! A great compilation all the way with fantastic linernotes about the twisted genius himself and the songs! Five tracks are previously unreleased! A five star release all the way and highly recommended! - amazonThe Wizard Of Rhythm makes his comeback with a collection of 21 amazing tunes, 14 taken from his various 7-inch releases on Witchcraft, Sleazy, Stag-O-Lee, Migraine and Squoodge (which are mostly sold-out) and 7 tunes previously unreleased! The vinyl version comes as an LP plus 7", packaged in a nice gatefold-sleeve The release includes extensive liner notes and track-by-track info by Darren Ross, as well as lots of photos, 7-inch covers and memorabilia. Artwork by Mr. Bontempi himself, of course. - drunkabilly.comtrax:

Mondo Fumatore - The yeah the yeah and the yeah (Garage Rock)
John Allen - Ghosts (Not Jon Allen)
Paul Orwell - Organized blues (Hammond-driven Instrumentals)
Sam Coomes - Bugger me (Low-Fi Garage)
John Paul White - Beulah (Folk and Swamp rock)
Ural Thomas & The Pain (Soul, 70s-style)

Positive Black Soul (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positive_Black_Soul)
Is a Senegalese Rap Duo formed by Amadou Barry & Didier Awadì ( who also run a successful solo carreer). The Band after a long hiatus ( begin in 2002) where both have pursue different musical project have come back together in 2014 as band releasing an ep re-recording some old song
Someone could ask why a post about Rap and why posting an African Rap band. Apart than for me Rap and Hip Hop are truly African music form. The Rap in his form more "nude" (only rapping and beatbox) come directly from african music tradition of drum and chant.
Another factor i sure that i like rap and hip hop and i like this band from the time a friend introduce me to Didier Awadì music. As i've say some time ago i don't like rap music tout court, for exemple i don't like a lot gangsta rap ( a dislike that is more based on my bias toward the cultural and social message carried from songs than on music) while i prefer more the old school rap and artist with a more conscious message.
Positive black Soul are a worth band to listen for me not only because carry socially and conscious themes in their music but also for they attention toward senegalese cultural tradition. As a lot of african nation Senegal is a kaleidoscope of different cultural and ethnic group. Apart a pun on the name of Parti Démocratique Sénégalais (PDS) the name is an expression of the message they want to deliver with their music because as they have stated "We want to show the positivity in the black soul. That's our fight. Africa is not only a land of suffering, misery, war and disease. We're proud to live there and we are not suffering".

Didier Awadì (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Didier_Awadi)
Duriing the hiatus of PBS Didier awadì have realized a recording studio called Space Sankara (dedicated to late burkinabè prime minister Thomas Sankara) and have released different solo album of social and political conscious Rap linking himself to porto alegre movement (his first album have the emblematic title "Un Autre Monde est Possible"), written song to protest the politics of European Union to make sign partnership agreement with african and carribbean states based only on trade and money (On Ne Signe Pas). But have also made an album to celebrate the historical figure of african indipendence (Presidents d'Afrique).
But as always in music and comunication a good message is nothing if the medium ( the song in that case) isn't good and sure Awadì and his musical collaborator know how to craft good song.

Thanks for the Marcel Bontempi. Don't know if anybody else thinks so but "Tarantula Mambo" sounds like a twisted version of the Spiderman Theme from the 1960's cartoon show. Thanks for the post. I'm digging it.

Wish I had some more duets but I don't, though I really think there should be more out there.

Maybe that's is due to the fact that Tarantula is a spider that in south italian folklore whose bite was believed to provoke a state of trance and frenzy that drove the person bitten to dance till you drop to earth exhaust. The Taranta ( or Pizzica) dance are connected to this old folk believing.
Maybe if P.P. had been bitten by a tarantula would become a white M.J more than the loving neighborhood Spidey
