"Rockabilly Psychosis And The Garage Disease" 1984

Go mental!!!If you enjoy loud noises, played frantically, and sometimes recorded in a very scratchy format, you should enjoy this compilation. If you are of the persuasion that rock n roll was designed to either dance frantically to or play full blast to annoy one's parents or elders, then you will find kindred spirits throughout the offerings on this various artists collective. If you are of a gentler and more cognotive intellectual persuasion, you may feel the need to pass up on this. That, of course is your choice, but, turkey-necks, you are missing a bucketful of FUN! Can you really fail to be moved by the 1mins 52 secs story-in-song-ripped-from-tomorrow's-headlines angst of the Meteors' Radioactive Kid? Can you live without wondering what Texas moonshine fuelled Hasil Adkins' poetic muse in She Said? Can you really believe that 20 years before WWWF, the Crushers could be inspired to write a whole song about a star local wrestler? COME ON-life is TOO short to not appreciate this gem. You really will find very few better reasons for 40 mins of kicking over the traces, annoying the wife and just ENJOYING YOURSELF! And if the Missus does look at you, as per Hasil Adkins' lady, Like a dyin' can of eggtomatolybeans, after you've played it-congratulations. You'll know it's been worth it & the pleasure will be greater when, inevitably, you play it again! - Reviewer: The BlackFerret "Steve The BlackFerret" (Plymouth UK)traxfromwax:
1. Love Me - The Phantom 2. Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen 3. Psycho - The Sonics 4. The Crusher - The Novas 5. Paralysed - Legendary Stardust Cowboy 6. She Said - Hasil 'Haze' Adkins 7. My Daddy Is A Vampire - Meteors 8. Red Headed Woman - Jimmy Dickinson & The Cramps 9. Radioactive Kid - Meteors 10. Dateless Night - Tav Falco & Panther Burns 11. Jack On Fire - Gun Club 12. Dear RYP and dear friends,

I am writing this message without any intention to annoy anyone! I still hope that someone will be so kind and post the albums "Ev'ry which way", "St.Laurent des pins" and West coast time trippers" released by Canadian garage/psych band MINSTRELS (LES MINSTRELS) as well as the mini album "Dig out" released by US garage band ELEMENT 79.
I hope that RYP will publish this comment and I hope that someone will help me!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND SORRY FOR DISURBANCE!!!

Holly Golightly - Serial Girlfriend - 1998

varying bitrates: 134 to 182
My link/not my rip

Recorded while still a member of Thee Headcoatees (she would leave the following year), Holly Golightly's sixth solo release is another winner from start to finish. If the production is a little rougher and more garagey than on subsequent efforts, her earthy charm, sardonic -- sometimes feisty -- attitude, and sure way with a catchy chorus are in full effect. As usual, there's a cool cover -- in this case a languid, reverb-drenched duet with Billy Childish on Ike Turner's "Your Love Is Mine" -- and a couple of angry numbers, "Come the Day" and opening track "I Can't Be Trusted" ("Why won't you see/I can't give you anything/But misery"). More unusually, Serial Girlfriend features an instrumental track, the rollicking "Grandstand," which allows Golightly to showcase her underrated prowess on the electric guitar, and the final track, "Now," comes close to a cappella in dropping (or at least minimizing) guitar, bass, and drums in favor of piano, chimes, and Golightly's distinctive voice. For anyone who's ever wondered what the early Beatles or Rolling Stones might have sounded like with a female front person, Serial Girlfriend -- in which drummer Bruce Brand channels Charlie Watts (circa "Get off of My Cloud") for "Down Down Down" -- is the highly enjoyable answer.

Holly Golightly - Painted On - 1997

Not my rip. Includes cover art
varying bitrates 211 to 261
This was originally posted by RYP in 2009 and the rapidshare link is dead.
http://twilightzone-rideyourpony.blogspot.com/2009/10/holly-golightly-painted-on-1997.html

Golightly’s 1997 album happily kept her own playful vibe going just as it should, combining home and Toerag Studio recordings into another stew of bluesy garage rock and R&B sass. Assisted by her usual crew of backing musicians, like drummer Bruce Brand and guitarist Dan Melchoir (not to mention Baine Watson as “the hick”), Golightly assays originals for the most part, kicking off with the well-groovy “Run Cold.” There’s one great cover, though: Hattie Hart’s old Memphis blues classic “I Let My Daddy Do That,” with just Golightly and Melchoir on the track, coming with an appropriately recorded on the porch in 1920 vibe. Most of the album has a distinct midcentury vibe, blending styles and arrangements to sound like a bit of never-never land Americana. The title track is a definite winner, caught somewhere between a slow, rockabilly ballad, cool dismissive ’60s pop/psych and Golightly’s own particular vibe. Concluding number “Anyway You Like It” is another good listen; both a touch wistful and sharp, its slow pace and harp from George Sueref wrapping things up with a bit of gentle melancholy. Handling production and keeping everything sounding just the way she wants, Golightly comes up with some fun and atmospheric touches, like her self-duet on “Indeed You Do,” switching between direct mic singing and from-one-room-over compression. Individual kudos: Brand’s swinging drums on the romantic warning sign “A Length of Pipe,” Melchoir’s own songwriting contribution to the album, Mat Radford’s “whistlin’” on the agreeably twangy “One Kiss,” and the group instrumental “Snake Eyed,” with fine slide guitar from Ed Deegan. – Ned Raggett

Oak and Gorski (formerly known as Ken Oak Band) is an American folk-rock music group based in California.

Billboard Magazine described the Ken Oak Band as "soulful" and "calming".[1] Oak and Gorski are an acoustic duo composed of Ed Gorski and Ken Oak. Commonly billed as a 'cello rock' act, they consistently captivate audiences with their unique combination of cello and acoustic guitar providing a minimalist backdrop for sincere songwriting. They have been included on the soundtrack to major motion picture She's the Man, completed five national tours and produced two albums under their own label, Cello Rock Records.[wiki]

@ anonymous that request ministrels and element 79. everyone have album that are search from a long time ( one of the mine is foam from mike mcclure band or 4 song ep from sebadoh) and everyone understand the frustation of not finding something. Only don't believe that request repeating as a woodpecker is the best way to make a request.
I believe that on TZ a lot of guy show everyday how they love help fullfill request(maybe for question of Karma or simply because they really understand how hard is findinf stuff).
So for a while stop requesting every day same thing
make a weekly request and maybe you can find a new user that can help you.

As for me I cant wait for 2016 to be gone,& to cap a lousy year I lost ALL my digital files a few weeks ago. (over 2 TB The backup disk was lost at same time as well) (Insert serenity prayer) Its ok, a good time to start over? argghhh.

I still have over 10,000 CDs, and about 7,000 12 inchers and I only posted things that I owned here anyway...however I sold a ton of rare cds on my amazon store back in the day that were rarer than hens teeth and I don't have copies of.....so anyway I have been away from the digital world lately but hope to see you all next year!
