Gallon Drunk "Tonite... The Singles Bar" 1991

Throughout their entire career, every single GALLON DRUNK have released has achieved Single Of The Week in either the NME or MELODY MAKER.One thing that can't be said about Gallon Drunk is that they're easy to listen to -- far from it. The sound the band produces verges on coherency at times, but without enough of a focus to actually slap a definition on it. Tom Waits, the Pogues, the Sex Pistols, a hundred surf bands, the Kingsmen, the Troggs, the Stranglers and a half-dozen drunk Irish poets...
Gallon Drunk have elements of all the above, with the result that the sound veers from repulsive to crazily attractive in a very primitive way. Giving this collection of their single releases more than a fighting chance is worth the work, though. While tracks like Snakepit, hailing from their early days, are raw and obnoxious, there are also serious surprises and eye-openers to be had -- Gallon Drunk's version of Miserlou is a slow, dark pulse that makes it the high point of the album.
This is wild-eyed primitive rock & roll in no uncertain terms, the sort of thing that can easily make the average listener uncomfortable. Consequently, it's definitely worth checking out. There aren't too many bands as seriously deranged as this one. ~ Steven McDonald, All Music GuideGallon Drunk:
James Johnston (g, voc), Mike Delanian (bg), Max Decharne (org, dr) und Nick Combe, Joe Byfield (dr), Terry Edwards (sax)

trax:
1. Last Gasp (Safety) 2. Rolling Home 3. Snake Pit 4. Misirlou 5. Ruby 6. Draggin' Along 7. May the Earth Open Here 8. Please Give Me Something 9. Whirlpool 10. Gallon Drunk
…originally served by Bucephalus...

Good stuff, but you left out the greatest of all Doo-Wop groups ever "The Persuasions". They always did it acappela, the way true Doo-Wop should be done. Here's a seasonal example:

http://www114.zippyshare.com/v/BzoAAnOZ/file.html

I have all their work if you need more proof.

To Billy K -

I have a lot of RnB and Jazz Christmas music. In addition to the above here's some more:

Info:
Freakbeat, Psych, Mod

Having infamously turned down the Beatles after auditioning them in 1962, and then grabbing the Rolling Stones the following year as a consolation prize, Decca spent much of the next couple years snapping up a bevy of R&B-oriented U.K. rock acts. Many of them (though not the Stones) are represented on this 25-track compilation, which serves as a pretty broad snapshot of this aspect of the British Invasion as a whole. The good part is that you get to hear a lot of decent to excellent non-hits that will be unfamiliar to the average British Invasion fan, from the grittiest and jazziest of the lot to pop stars who occasionally got into an R&B bag (like Dave Berry and Lulu). The not-so-good part is that a fair number of mediocrities are mixed in with the more exciting stuff. Too, even the fine obscurities here have mostly been easily available on other CD anthologies or single-artist collections, and many British Invasion collectors interested in this kind of material are likely to already have much of the best of it elsewhere. But there's no denying that the best half or so is dynamite, whether it's early British R&B-rock at its most feral (the Fairies' "Anytime at All" and Cops'n Robbers' "Gotta Be a Reason," both strongly reminiscent of the early Pretty Things); Lulu at her most raunchily soulful ( "I'll Come Running Over" ); an early example of a folk song being rocked up, though it falls short of being folk-rock (the Plebs' "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You"); David John & the Mood's "To Catch That Man" (sometimes rumored to have been led by a very young David Bowie, though that's not the case); and the Hipster Image's "Can't Let Her Go" (the original version of a song subsequently covered by the Alan Bown Set), one of the best little-known midpoints between British R&B/mod rock and jazz. There are also plenty of efforts by stars-in-the-making that are cool or at least historically interesting, like the Birds (with Ron Wood), the Graham Bond Organisation (with a pre-Cream Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker), Davie Jones & the King Bees (led by the future David Bowie), Rod Stewart, and John Mayall (whose 1964 pre-Eric Clapton debut single, "Crawling Up a Hill," is pretty terrific). ~ Richie Unterberger (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THE-R-B-SCENE-Various-Artists-NEW-SOUL-MOD-R-B-BLUES-CD-DECCA-/152006985223)

For personal and safety concerns I'm going to be using an old moniker I've used for years, "Stink Blister." Also time to weigh in on bit rates of FREE MUSIC:
bit rates, shmit rates, personally I think each poster should hand deliver a mint vinyl copy of each offering posted here directly to my home. If a vinyl copy doesn't exist they should pay to have one pressed & then hand deliver it to me in Pennsylvania. I guarantee that this will successfully nip in the bud any future whining I may engage in that involves bit rates, shmit rates.
Thank You & good day.
BTW, thanks for The Del Moroccos. Great stuff.

Hello,

THE SWEET ACTION - A LITTLE TASTE OF (Jargon Records 2007) FLAC + @320

11 tracks of organ-fueled fuzz drenched mod garage action!!! The Sweet Action is a 4 piece original garage rock band from Rochester NY, formerly known as The Lost Marbes!! Totally insane garage punk mod 60’s punk with snotty vocals & outta control drumbangs! Plus of course that organ, which drills a hole in your brain at once!
(Soundflat Newsletter_08_08_07)

The Sweet Action is an original '60s style mod garage local band. They were signed to Jargon Records, and released an album in 2007 entitled A Little Taste of The Sweet Action.

Very sparse info. I don’t think you can find this stuff anywhere else (maybe at soulseek, the thing I don’t use). So, if you are into Fuzz ‘N’ Farfisa, take it now or never.

Band:
Stephen Raiman - Vocals, Organ
Matt Deknatel - Guitars, Vocals
Dave Anderson - Bass, Vocals (was part of the Projectiles + Riviera Playboys)
Darren Brennessel - Drums, Vocals

There is a myspace-site with 4 tasters but no info.

Yesterday I learned of the passing of Barrelhouse Chuck, an honest-to-god student of Sunnyland Slim and Little Brother Montgomery. While not the greatest singer, he had heart, soul and an amazing grasp of Chicago Blues piano - which ain't as easy as it looks. Being 10 years younger than me, I thought sure he'd outlive me, but alas died of cancer. If you don't know of him, here's a taste. If you do know of him, play some of his music - I'm sure he'll appreciate it. Lots more where this came from, if anyone is interested.
