Gallon Drunk "You, the Night... & The Music" 1992

Why? Because they don't sound like anyone else - John Peel
Some more Gallon Drunk for your readers. A hard band to pin down, but you can hear the Bo Diddley influence on this one. Amazing record! - Billy KGallon Drunk was one of the most aggressive and intimidating outfits of its time. You The Night And The Music (1992) served rock'n'roll and rhythm'n'blues played by a pack of rabid wolves, skewed tribal dances derailed by awkwardly distorted guitar and organ and by demonic changes of tempo and mood. The album revived the lascivious and sinister musical universe of Birthday Party, the Cramps and the Scientists, but in a more catastrophic setting, and amid mutant echoes of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Bo Diddley. The slightly jazzier and more rational From The Heart Of Town (1993), featuring reed player Terry Edwards, turned that wild flight of the imagination into a style. - from:

James Johnston (g, voc), Mike Delanian (bg), Max Decharne (org, dr) und Nick Combe, Joe Byfield (dr), Terry Edwards (sax)

Two related comments in 3 hours for the four today's postings,
but 13 unrelated...

and also Gyro1966 said in the comments for "SIXTIES CAVALCADE":
"...Even though this comp has only received a few comments overall, the DL numbers after two days are over 1500…"

This frustrating problem became often enough discussed here, Therefore I have decided, to publish all the unrelated comments per day at 7.00 pm!
I'll don't publish comments related to this decision!

Best wishes to everyone and here's something to put under the christmas tree.
Various Artists - A Rock 'n' Roll Christmas (1989)
http://www97.zippyshare.com/v/PJJnVZ2C/file.html
This is from Ace Records (the Mississippi one) produced by owner Johnny Vincent and Dr. John. R&B from the Big Easy, a majority of the tracks are with Huey P. Smith & The Clowns, either as featured players or as a backing band. It's a who's who of New Orleans musicians like Earl King, Lee Allen, James Booker, Alvin Tyler, Earl Palmer, etc.

THE BLACK JETTS - BLEED ME (Dead Beat Records 2003) @320

Stripped Down 'N' Dirty Early Detroit Style Rock 'N' Roll from Las Vegas, USA

Remember those days when Rock & Roll ran through the veins of the bands that played it. Well you don't have to remember those days any more thanks to Rock N Roll heathens the Black Jetts. Situated deep below the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas strip, lie these 4 mopped haired rockers. These fellas have been around for a few years now creating quite a commotion in and around Sin City. With the undaunting drive the Black Jetts had to create the epic debut, 'Bleed Me' offers 11 killer rippers including a cool cover of the Who’s ‘Leavin Here’. In 2 seperate recording sessions the Black Jetts definately captured something. You can just hear a band totally busting at the seems playing their hearts out for only a few mics and an 8 track recorder.
You can really hear something fresh in these 11 tracks. First and foremost originality, but on top of that these songs really have soul. In the same way that many people say that Thunders spoke with his guitar without saying a word, the Black Jetts exude that same raw, energetic intensity. Just check out songs like ‘Rehab Love’, ‘Cheap Date’ and the incredibly moody ‘Hangin’ Around.’ They just exude heart and soul rock n roll that you can feel. And the Black Jetts are definately one of the better bands out there playing that stripped down n dirty early Detroit style rock n roll. An aweseome debut.

Sinful party rock n' roll out of Las Vegas with fierce, snotty vocals. The ultra-cheap, but effective, production sounds gloriously loud and mean. Squealing guitars chug along in perfect time with the satisfying, rhythmic THWACK of the Jetts drumset. At their best (like on the amazing song "Another Night") they sound like a more-polluted version of the Sonics, and at their second best, they play solid, sneering Saturday-night drinking music with great yell-along choruses. They cool it down for a second on "Hangin' Around," and pick it right back up with a raging, farfisa-filled howler called "Rehab Love." They even do an awesome cover of The Who's "Leavin' Here." This is perfect music for spinning shittys in a gravel parking lot or getting bombed. Whatever your mood, give this son of a bitch a pull for some A+ fantastic super-punk rock action. - Phil Hunt

@RYP

I think it's a great idea if you can reign it in a bit. This blog is so incredibly great, it was bound to attract more visitors. But more visitors with an unchecked comments section somewhat obscures the original flavor of the blog. I completely understand the thrill of finding a bit of music I have been searching for, but it does seem like the blog is getting a lot more comments which are requests for unrelated material. I guess some blogs solve this dilemma by moving unrelated requests and links to a separate "readers links" thread or shoutbox.

More people, more problems....

Anyhow, I'm glad you are still here, and hope you can keep the TZ fun for yourself so it doesn't become to feel like a job!

the Northern Madman leaves me a little hole to work in.

I want to wish everybody a Merry Christmas, especially

Thank you for all this wonderful music! I saw Gallon Drunk twice in the 90's in small sweaty venues and they were an amazing live band..underappreciated unfairly in the wider music scene...

luis said...

I know that a lot of people have busy lives but i believe that take some times to left a sinole thans message isn't to hard and timewasting. Believe or not but reading a thanks message is a great retribution for people who share music, in particular person like Gyro Ryp and all the other that let us swim in a sea of great music.
@ Ryp maybe 7.00 pm could be a bit late particurally for guys from old continent or from Asia, maybe you can resume the habit of post messages with music link after 5:00 pm that you have sometime ago and posting only the message of thanks till 5.00 pm.
ps as always there's someone taking some time to put salt in the wound but rarely take time to left a thanks

luis,
okay, let's go back to 5.00 pm, today is xmas!

ps.: for sure I'm not begging for thanks!

never say someone is begging to thanks but only that somethimes is rewarding reading a thanks message for a music share ( guess that's true for me but also for all those who share music on tz) and that left a message on comment page isn't so time consuming.
