Tom Hoidleston

[–]ThedepressionoftreesBridge Four[S] 119 points120 points  (3 children)

You win, post over

[–][deleted] 61 points62 points  (2 children)

I'm not good at puns so I'm actually very proud if myself right now

[–]onedayperhaps 9 points10 points  (1 child)

You should be.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One day perhaps

[–]CaptBuzz0129 18 points19 points  (1 child)

That is some Grade A Prime Cut Punnage right there.

[–]I-Am-The-KittyLightweaver 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You could also say it’s A-tier crem.

[–]CaptBuzz0129 923 points924 points  (17 children)

Well, I do now.

[–][deleted] 212 points213 points  (8 children)

After being Loki he has the experience to act a part where you have no clue what his agenda is but he has one.

[–]0b0011 24 points25 points  (7 children)

I never got that for loki. I know he's supposed to be the trickster God but he always seems so obvious and straight forward in everything.

[–]SophophilicLightweaver 26 points27 points  (5 children)

He's obvious and straightforward about his current plan. But he usually has other plans going on and doesn't give anything about them away.

[–]0b0011 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Can you give any examples?

[–]thetruffleking 19 points20 points  (0 children)

An example that was poorly executed by the writer’s is in Dark World. We think he dies, but actually tricked Thor and slips off back to Asgard to usurp the throne from Odin.

We had no idea he was planning this. It just happens. The fact that it comes out of nowhere is what makes it feel poorly executed.

It’s like ok, now this is happening.

[–]ColonelKasteen 12 points13 points  (1 child)

No, because he doesn't actually do this in any of the movies. He's a poorly written God of clever trickery, although a cool character. He just had a big surprise betrayal once a movie, either for good or bad.

They never really show hidden secondary machinations that aren't just part of his current plan.

[–]_LestibournesTruthwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now in the myths... he’s excellent

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, its the first time you see him each movie. You always wonder if he will be a good guy or a bad guy. He will do good if it moves him enough, or if it absolutely needs to be done

[–]cdjoyEdgedancer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Agreed, new head canon. Just, perfection!

[–]WickedPsychoWizard 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Same

[–]eeclectic 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Ditto, can't un-see it now

[–]Jmundi 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeahp, once you see it...

[–]Camp-Unusual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here

[–]sinosKai 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeh that's pretty on point casting tbf.

[–]LeaphyDragonWindrunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well shoot. Count me in

[–]DarthRoyal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep

[–]brynntattoos 208 points209 points  (7 children)

Oh. OH.

[–]rockytheboxer 41 points42 points  (6 children)

I like this suggestion, but I pictured Tom Hiddleston as Lightsong from Warbreaker.

[–]StrawberryAquaTruthwatcher 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Funny, I see Lightsong as being more Thor-like.

[–]RoughMedicinePattern 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Yeah. The "goofy" Thor from the MCU could fit well with Lightsong's character.

[–]StrawberryAquaTruthwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He also has the beefy build and looks good in red and gold.

[–]LordColmsLightweaver 139 points140 points  (8 children)

I have always thought that long-haired and serious Tom Hiddleston could make for a good Lord Ruler. And it doesn't typecast him into the same role so I would be more happy with that. However, David Tennant as Hoid.... Hmmm...

[–]Pulsecode9 159 points160 points  (5 children)

Worried about typecasting, but cast David Tennant as a too-clever-for-his-own-good nigh-unkillable ageless worldhopper known for his wit and infuriating whimsy, concealing a shrewd mind and a little darkness...

[–]positive_electron42 60 points61 points  (3 children)

Sounds pretty wibbly wobbly to me.

[–]BlueHeronKnight 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Can totally picture Hoid saying "Always bring a banana to a party!" lol

[–]bandrus5Truthwatcher 5 points6 points  (1 child)

No no, it's Crowley!

[–]positive_electron42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could definitely be a combo, I think.

[–]TheOwlMarbleTruthwatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh, that's good!

[–]Razzle_dazzle_discoWindrunner 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Well how could I not now?

[–]obiwanknudson 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I do now

[–]MalcontentusTruthwatcher 120 points121 points  (11 children)

Wish I didn't. Feels like typecasting him into a Loki like role.

[–]ImpalaonfireWindrunner 49 points50 points  (8 children)

Totally different characters I think

[–][deleted] 102 points103 points  (7 children)

They both fit the trickster archetype

[–]Nameles36Life before death. 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Especially since Rock calls him the God of mischief

[–]ImpalaonfireWindrunner 34 points35 points  (4 children)

They do. But they’re still incredibly different. Especially when it comes down to the actual personalities, motivations, and backstories

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Well obviously they're different, they're from two entirely different universes.

But it would be like Ian McKellen asked to star as Dumbledore in a Harry Potter TV show and saying they're typcasting him as a wizard for being Gandalf. Obviously Dumbledore and Gandalf are poles apart when it comes to motives, but they're similar types. You see the point?

[–]scaradin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is it though? Is Hoid a pure agent of Chaos with massive family issues?

I think Tom does a great job as someone who edges next to breaking that 4th wall, but has shown plenty of depth... and absolutely nailed Loki.

[–]ecocentric_lifeWillshaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, Hoid probably has massive family issues

[–]Brick_Ninja 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I hadn't...

[–]Freemind323Truthwatcher 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Yes. Per 17th Shard, he changes his appearance using normal disguise techniques and magic, but his appearance is described as:

“To the best of our knowledge, his face is lined, hawk-like and arrow shaped. Hoid is tall and thin and also has a sharp nose and jaw with delicate eyebrows. He tends to cock his head to one side and has keen blue eyes. Hoid's hair is white, although he occasionally dyes it.”

It actually fits quite well.

Edit: Formattinf Formatting

Edit 2: Corrected spelling error

[–]barstowtovegas 11 points12 points  (1 child)

That edit typo made me laugh way more than it should

[–]StrawberryAquaTruthwatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now I see it.

[–]hitokirizac 25 points26 points  (7 children)

I can't help but think of him (Hoid) as Garak from Deep Space 9

Edit: for clarity

[–]iyaerPWillshaper 4 points5 points  (3 children)

If we're recruiting Star Trek actors, we NEED Jeffery Coombs. I don't care who he plays, but we need him.

[–]CadamarSpearish Chap 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I could see him doing Ishar. Don't ask me why, just sort of fits for me. That competence but also edge of insanity fits well for me with Weyoung, having to manage the cognitive dissonance of reality with the idea of "The Founders are Gods." Could see him doing well with that.

But let's be clear, he could probably play every part of SLA and knock them all out of the park.

Sidebar, but Armin Shimerman is my headcasting for Gaz. Always got Quark vibes from Gaz.

[–]Sweatpant-Diva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that idea! After watching that clip I totally agree

[–]FloorPuddingStoneward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some reason I first read "Garak" as "Gowron" and now I'm fucking dying.

[–]VoidLantaddSpearish Chap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...

[–]DM_Malus 76 points77 points  (5 children)

Nah, personally i pictured someone much younger...i pictured Hoid to be in his late 20s/early 30s... someone who had a more slim and youthful appearance.

From the way he is always described, and his personality, i always pictured a smarmy smart-ass 20-something kid who clearly is far too "witty" for his own good and a cleverness that belies his youthful appearance...

From the way people always approached him on Roshar (and others) they always talked to him as if he was...younger to them, (maybe thats just how i interpreted it).

Tom is almost 40.... and i feel like it would change the approach of the character a lot.

However, i do definitely get that "smarmy" loki vibes from Hoid, minus the superiority complex/ vanity.

[–]tomas_shugar 27 points28 points  (2 children)

It wouldn't take much Hollywood MagicTM to make Hiddleston look a fair bit younger, and I think he could nail everything else you describe about Hoid.

My only concern is how much Loki would show through into Hoid. The have some common personality traits, but they're expressed fairly different and ultimately are very different people. If he just was Loki, it'd be dumb.

[–]rocker_faceWillshaper 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Just use Lightweaving to make him look younger, duh

[–]RuneScpOrDieWillshaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It also wouldn’t take much work, and make everything easier to just cast a younger more accurate actor lol

Totally agree with the second bit tho.

[–]Jmundi 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I've always pictured him in his 40's :D It fits with his personality to me and especially with the things that happen in Rhytm of War.

[–]tea-and-chillBondsmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always imagined hoid as late 20s or early thirties. Definitely not super young!

[–]Lady_Gray_169Life before death. 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Big time. I've been picturing him as Hoid for a long while now. It's a bit of an obvious choice perhaps, but obvious choices are obvious for a reason. He's even got the type of nose Hoid should have I think.

[–]rrbush 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I always have seen Hoid as Paul Bettany

[–]thats_rich 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. A more refined version of his character from A Knight's Tale

[–][deleted]  (15 children)

[removed]

    [–]WrenElsewhere 36 points37 points  (14 children)

Kelsier is clearly a Skarsgard. Any Skarsgard.

    [–]ihavebulimiaamaElsecaller 16 points17 points  (6 children)

I'm now picturing Stellan in mistcoat, covered in scars, about to battle several Inquisitors and uttering the line, I'm too old for this shit.

    [–]Vin135mm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally would have picked Stellan for Gemmel

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Isn't Kelsier supposed to be more conventionally attractive though? Stellan has never struck me as "dashing." And isn't he too old?

    Edit: RIP

    [–]zefgural 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Had to Google what you meant and I need to say, I am amazed "wow"

    [–]AkitsubeTruthwatcher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here.. I love Stellan Skarsgård in any movie he does. And when searching i found out Floki and Pennywise are his sons!

    [–]GangsterJawaEdgedancer 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I'm still firmly in the camp of Dominic Monaghan, though the one fan I've tried to convince would have absolutely none of it

[–]notpetelambertgiant crab wife 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I would rather have him as Wayne. I listen to Graphic Audio, which gives Wayne a sort of Irish accent, and you can't tell me this isn't peak Wayne energy

    [–]GangsterJawaEdgedancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh now that you mention it that's a really good take

    [–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I'm shocked at the amount of people saying "I do now" considering I've seen this idea mentioned at least 20 other times in this sub

    [–]Senseiaki 10 points11 points  (4 children)

YES!! That is what Hoid looks like, just black hair

    [–]VoidLantaddSpearish Chap 16 points17 points  (3 children)

That is as Wit, Hoid usually has white hair.

    [–]Kroneni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that you say that, I it’s interesting that Hoid appears as an old/man more than he does, as the young(by comparison) Wit.

    [–]Sh33pie27 19 points20 points  (6 children)

    I always imagined David Tennant

    [–]AmbroseJackass 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah I imagined David Tennant too, with a bit of Andrew Scott/Moriarty energy.

    [–]Sh33pie27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if Andrew Scott had a slightly more angular face he'd be a perfect Wit I think.

    [–]Randolpho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! Particularly Dr Who Tennant, but also, kinda Jessica Jones and Good Omens Tennant.

    [–]taliskergunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Me too!

    [–]StarWaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Yes! Me as well.

    [–]CadamarSpearish Chap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's been my headcasting forever, but I think Tom could work too.

    [–]9fxd 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I feel like, Hoid has a little bit of Loki in him.

    [–]ThedepressionoftreesBridge Four[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would not be surprised if hoid was Loki who just stopped on earth and decided to mess with some vikings

    [–]GeneralRane 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    They are both trickster gods.

    [–]digibomb23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    What, did someone not?

    [–]SushiWithoutSushi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[OathBringer] Just picture him as the lightweaver he is playing Loki.

    [–]Saucererer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

    No but I am now

    [–]Stealth_HowlerEdgedancer 7 points8 points  (4 children)

I’ve always pictured Zach Woods, I cant even really explain it but I think he would crush it. From the ham fisted Wit insults to the storytelling to shallan and Kal I think he has the right delivery

    [–]Kobe-BTruthwatcher 2 points3 points  (3 children)

    Way too awkward IMO

    [–]Comb-the-desert 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Fair or not, Zach Woods as Hoid would mean I'm forever equating Hoid and Gabe in my mind, and that's an equivalency that I think would be too much to overcome haha

    [–]Kroneni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I couldn’t get on board with that. His voice would be the biggest problem for me

    [–]Kingsdaughter613 Ghostbloods 11 points12 points  (0 children)

    Yes.

    [–]VoidLantaddSpearish Chap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    For Hoid? Potentially.

For Wit? No, not unless you want to repeat Cloud Atlas.

    [–]mental_barfLightweaver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Shoot, can't unsee

    [–]Asylum_BrewsElsecaller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine him as Hugh Laurie in his mid to late 20's, but with his House character/demeanor

    [–]H08S0N_Willshaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw someone the other day suggest David Tennant as Hoid and I thought that choice was perfect!

    [–]csannerLightweaver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Him or Paul Bettany

    [–]Forgotten_ShoesEdgedancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could see him as Moash too

    [–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    Basically.

    [–]anorthwestdynamic 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Hour/Wit on Roshar looks Alethi. (Alethi folks have brown skin, varying "asian" features) He got that energy tho

    [–]anorthwestdynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Sorry, Hoid*

    [–]SedentaryOwlTruthwatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Yep.

    [–]WandererTaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its only animated but I picture Hoid as Clopin Trouillefou from hunchback of Notre Dame.

Dunno why it just came naturally to me as I read his character.

    [–]Auramaru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually fully envisioned him as Claude Frollo from Disney's "Hunchback of Notre Dame" - all the way from Way of Kings to Rhythm of War. https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/Claude_Frollo

    [–]Citadel_Cowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Was always my fan cast.

    [–]hatfiem3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Regularly

    [–]grace_art 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Always have!!

    [–]Jusaleb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cool to see some Cloud Atlas level facial prosthetics when he's on Roshar.

    [–]TheEnviousWrathLightweaver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never conceived of Hoid being pretty or attractive. I always imagined him as short and squat, and a bit goofy looking.

    [–]buckzor122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically I hate these casting posts but this one is spot on, I'll give you a pass.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I do now indeed....either him or...well dammit I’m gonna say it...Ryan Reynolds.

    [–]KanibalectorWindrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    I'd prefer David Tennant.

    [–]H-wade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think of Ricky Gervais. Specifically his character from Stardust.

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tom is PERFECT for this role! He is just "low key" enough to make it work ;)

    [–]mauimorr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Respectfully, no.

    [–]alasdair8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close but not quite there for me. Hoid in my head has darker hair, a more sharp face and is more slender. If you had to cast Hoid, he would be a good one.

    [–]UveBeenChengDLightweaver 4 points5 points  (1 child)

So I always pictures Wit as Lord Farquaad from Shrek......Idk what's wrong with me.

    [–]ThedepressionoftreesBridge Four[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

    It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make

    [–]shampb4ucondish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please, no. I'm so sick of the same actors playing in every role. Let's please get some fresh faces.

    [–]ImpalaonfireWindrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    100%

He has the perfect energy and looks imo

    [–]allthedopewrestlers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually just picture him as Brandon Sanderson.

    [–]lliH-knaH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    No

    [–]WaBang511 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I've always viewed him closer to a Johnny Depp or Benedict Cumberbatch. That smug wisdom.

    [–]gyomd 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Johnny Depp ? My god please no.

I love Cumberbatch but Hiddleston would play even better the foolish side of Hoid.

    [–]aveindha25 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Agreed, Benedryl Cucumberpatch is to serious.

    [–]Kauldwin 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Hiddleston definitely fits Hoid better in my mind, but if you ever want to enjoy a not-so-serious Cumberbatch, check out Cabin Pressure (audio story) - it shows a different side to him that I really got a kick out of.

    [–]MyDumbOpinionTruthwatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and he’s hilarious in interviews and has a more sarcastic side to him. I think he just always gets casted as the smart, slightly outcast type character because ... he’s done it so much at this point that casting directors kinda just go “yup, get that guy” lol plus he is really good at it. He’s got the physicality down. I think Cumberbatch is a great actor, but I agree Hiddleston fits the role better. I don’t want him to copy his Loki performance though. That doesn’t feel right. I just think he’s got the looks and the acting chops for it.

    [–]atalantallegraPattern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y

    [–]jtheiling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally spent all day thinking about this, so I’m glad somebody finally said it!

    [–]PhoenixHunters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ever since I saw him as Loki the first time back in the first Thor movie!

    [–]MarackulWillshaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Yes

    [–]Shepher27Windrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    He’d be good as Hoid.

    [–]TheMuspelheimrEdgedancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do now that you've mentioned it.

    [–]littlebear406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    He is perfect for Hoid

    [–]x-sol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    well I do now

    [–]DeathQ421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    That is a perfect match.

    [–]WrenElsewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    THANK YOU

    [–]iszabikhalid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Defacto Hoid

    [–]fantaroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. Just the trickster Loki vibe that Hoid gives off made me think this.

    [–]PresentationNo375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I always picture Benedict Cumberbatch lol but i like this

    [–]okcurrrKaladin 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Tom's personality in Interviews is very much about wanting people to like him, I think Hoid should be played by someone older and more sure of themself.

    [–]Quynn_Stormcloud 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Well, by the time any Sanderson works get movie/tv rights...

    [–]Francis__Underwood 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I thought Stormlight film rights were sold like 4 years ago. Did something happen to that (other than S.A. being the worst series to make into movies instead of a show?)

    [–]Pendragonswaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picture for some reason the clockwork orange actor as Hoid, young obviously.

    [–]bmack083Elsecaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn’t realize it, but I 100% do. But with slightly longer hair.

    [–]marveldeadpool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always picture a young Jeff Goldblum.

    [–]MyDumbOpinionTruthwatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... you know this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this fan-cast, but the picture used was of Loki, and that’s the only role I’ve seen Hiddleston in, so I looked at it and went “🤨 great actor, but doesn’t look quite right for it” ... this made me a believer!! Congrats 😜

    [–]BowlerHatCabal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    All the time

    [–]quirklestLightweaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    YES SINCE STORMLIGHT BOOK 1!!!

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I’m so glad somebody else does too! I especially imagine him as him in that black suit from ragnarok . I just imagine him wearing these completely modern clothes while everyone else wears their finest Vorin fashion.

    [–]SpikGibbons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Literally since day one

    [–]The_EvilMidgetWindrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neil Patrick Harris is my headcanon for hoid

    [–]waywardlass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always did, so thank you for the vindication.

    [–]hopeduringgrimtimes Ghostbloods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big fan of this actor, but I really envision Jesse Eisenberg as Hoid. The facial features and voice.

    [–]Novelle_1020Skybreaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t quite put my finger on it before… but yeah. This is 100% what I picture. This exact guy.

    [–]dsolo01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Yes

    [–]LSDLaserKittensDustbringer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always pictured him as the eunuch from Game of Thrones, Varys (Conleth Hill). There is probably a passage somewhere that describes him in a completely different manner but my brain seems to have intentionally forgotten it.

    [–]caffieneandsarcasmWillshaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tom Huddleston is Lightsong. We need to get a time machine so young Brent Spiner can be Hoid.

    [–]efburke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, but it's because his portrayal of Loki matches up nicely with what we know of Hoid. This is one of those situations that because he played Loki I don't think I could easily see him as Hoid if it ever happened. I worry that I'd keep thinking 'Why is Loki dressed up like Hoid?'.

    [–]TheCrypticSprenPattern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Mathew Goode for me.

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Oh. My. God. YES.

He played Loki so fucking well, that I would not accept any other human being playing Hoid in a movie.

    [–]Goschbody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% just told my lady this after watching the Loki trailer

    [–]RyuheiAoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, in my head canon, he looks like Farquad from Shrek.

Also in my head canon, Elhokar is Near from Death Note, Renarin is L from Death Note, Dalinar is Ryoma from Fire Emblem Fates.

My brain always imagines literary characters as characters I have visualizations of that fit their archetype or some strong resemblance of personality traits, no matter how the character's physical appearance is described.

I always pictured Jasnah as Vayne from League of Legends, but with a Fiora-esque fighting style (sword instead of crossbow).

Pretty sure I'm the weird one though.

Yes. Great idea. Although I've always though The Cosmere in general would make for better anime than movies/shows.

I’d like David tennet just because it’d be a huge reference towards doctor who

I don't know why but in my mind Hoid looks/sounds like The Outsider from Dishonored.

    [–]Nephilimn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, probably because of Loki. Wit was my first exposure to Hoid

    [–]althechickenWillshaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm i can see it i guess, but I think of him as pretty different. The smile is there for sure

    [–]DarthNearl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was legit just thinking this yesterday while listening to a MCU podcast!!!!

    [–]natronamus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not until you just said it.

    [–]FrequentParfait7347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would be the PERFECT hoid

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picture Adolin as mark wahlberg, aged accordingly.

    Shallon- saoirse ronan.

kaladin- shit, I just saw they have a list for this in imdb, Jan uddin is perfect.

    [–]artox484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Well I do now

    [–]Sondassasda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been imagining him more like Joey Batey, the guy who plays Jaskier (the Bard) from The Witcher on Netflix.

    [–]datman421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought this before, the connection as Loki.

    [–]ashergunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picture Timothee Chalamet. At least when he’s Wit.

    [–]Ishi-Elin Ghostbloods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Definitely not

    [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

i see everyone keep mentioning this, i really dont know, probably not, he does fit but he is too young, maybe one of hoid's characters but i dont think all of them.

    [–]Kroneni 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well yeah, Hoid would need to be cast as multiple different actors depending on which version of Hoid we are seeing. Anyway I think op meant Hoid as Wit with this cast.

But he doesn't look like an Alethi when he's elsewhere.

The post is about Hoid, and Hoid doesn't exist solely on Roshar. If they'd have said Tom Hiddleston would make a good Wit, I'd have completely disagreed.

        [–]Kroneni 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I think that’s what OP was getting at though. Wit is a title more than a name, and he clearly gave his name as Hoid in WoK so that’s what OP was going off of.

I wouldnt accept anyone else tbh

          [–]disasterluWindrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He'd actually be a very good Hoid. Especially because of his nose.

          [–]Rayux 0 points1 point  (3 children)

It's been a while since I've read stormlight, but I've always imagined him as looking like Iroh from Avatar.

          [–]DM_Malus 5 points6 points  (2 children)

he can alter his appearance dramatically from world to world he goes too. On Roshar, he takes the appearance of a man in his early 30s, w/ onyx hair.

Across the majority of his appearances, he always seems to retain a lined-face thats been described as "hawk-like and narrow" and is usually always tall and thin with a sharp nose.

          [–]VoidLantaddSpearish Chap 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Not just his hair colour that he changes on Roshar, he makes himself look Alethi, which means tan skin, black hair, and epicanthic folds.

Azure and Zahel are the same deal.

          [–]DM_Malus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that too! i've always pictured them being half asian/pacific islander

          U meant Sadeas right? 😂😁
