Howl's Moving Castle. Definitely a comfort movie for me.

She-Ra, especially if you're into LGBTQ+ stuff. It's legitimately so good. Each season is better than the last, and the first is already really good.

My boyfriend is definitely not bulky, and I love it.

Honest communication is the biggest one for me. Not necessarily blunt rudeness, just the willingness to tell me what they're feeling instead of what I want to hear. Obviously, this goes both ways.

BTW, if you listen to it carefully, you can hear that the C chord is also major. Actually, all of the chords in the song are major chords.

The progression from the beginning is

Eb

C Ab | F | C Ab | Cb Eb |

C Ab | Eb | C Ab | Eb |

The progression sometimes "disagrees" with the melody a bit. The melody may use the minor 3rd of the chord, but the chord is still major.

I would say it's mostly in Cm, but also tonicizes the relative major (Eb major). And yes, the Cb chord is best understood as the bVI chord of Eb.

Cool, that's really interesting! Thanks! I feel like the major minor disagreement is normally something I'd hate, but I really like it in this context.

Yes, lowered submediant is right. I'd be cautious about saying that it's serving a dominant function--it's true that it goes to the I chord, but is a IV chord serving dominant function when it goes to the I chord? The crucial thing, I feel, is that the bVI chord, like the IV chord and unlike the V chord, includes scale degree 1 and lacks scale degree 7.

Regardless of its name, I'd say that no, this is not particularly common, though it's certainly not unheard-of either. Scott Joplin's "Bethena," for instance, is in G major and ends with the chords Eb - G.

I see, that makes sense. I'll have to check out that Joplin piece---it will be interesting to hear how it sounds in a different context. Thanks for giving such a good explanation!

Wholesome

John Green definitely works to back this statement up, too. Along with writing thoughtful books and hosting podcasts, he helped create Crash Course (a free, solidly- sourced educational YouTube channel with a wide variety of subjects). There is also Project for Awesome (look it up, it's really neat).

Just a genuine person that is candid with his journey as a human being, believes in the worth of science and philosophy, and honestly wants to make this world better.

Tons of respect.

Edited for a typo!
