Koridallos prisons: Revolutionary Struggle member Nikos Maziotis on the escape attempt and life sentence (Greece)

March 24th, 2016

Text of Nikos Maziotis about the operation of escape from Koridallos prison and the sentence of life imprisonment handed down in the 2nd Revolutionary Struggle trial

The attempt to escape from Koridallos prison by helicopter on February 21st 2016 – an operation carried out by comrade Pola Roupa, member of Revolutionary Struggle – was a revolutionary act, a guerrilla action for the liberation of political prisoners. It was a means of continuation of Revolutionary Struggle’s activity, a response to the State’s repressive operations against our organisation and other political prisoners, comrades who are in prison for armed activity as well. It was therefore an exemplary solidarity act of great and unique importance. The prison escape operation was a step towards continuing armed revolutionary activity; promoting the struggle for the overthrow of the State and Capital; overturning the establishment’s policy of bailout programs imposed by the troika of the country’s supranational bosses, the EC, ECB and IMF, to which the ESM has been added with the enactment and implementation of the third memorandum program by the SYRIZA-led government. Armed struggle in the present circumstances is more timely and necessary than ever. The failure of this operation won’t bend us. We will struggle as long as we live and breathe. Undercover police officers spy on activists’ children and then demand right to ‘privacy’ and ‘family life’ (UK)

March 24th, 2016

From The Canary:

The Undercover Policing Inquiry, chaired by Lord Justice Pitchford, resumed this week with legal arguments being made by the police which, if implemented, would essentially mean most of the inquiry being held in secret. Central to their position is a continuation of the policy of neither confirming nor denying (NCND) whether a person was an undercover officer.

However, whilst the lawyers for the police have been arguing that revealing the identities of officers would infringe their Article 8 right to privacy and family life, The Canary can reveal that police officers have been recording details of activists’ young children.

Mae Benedict put in a Subject Access Request to find out what information the domestic extremist units held on her. She believed she might have a file as she had been arrested in the past for environmental activism. She had also been close to the only known female undercover officer, Lynn Watson. However, she was shocked to discover her file left out details of “several arrests and a conviction” but contained details of her young child:

It made me furious that my kid is on a police file already, and mostly it was really intrusive. Instead of details of when I HAD been found guilty of a crime, the focus instead was on me as a parent, and, by default, my child as a child of mine. Read the rest of this entry »

End of the legal prosecution against eco-anarchists Silvia, Costa & Billy who attempted to blow up an IBM nano-facility under construction (Italy)

March 24th, 2016

Note of Instinto Salvaje: We joyfully salute from a distance the news of the closure of the proceedings against our comrades Billy, Silvia and Costa, who will not be prosecuted in Italy. For now we publish the news complied from TG Magddalena and enemy sources. We send all our love and solidarity to the three comrades.

Finally, on the morning of March 23, 2016, the trial of Billy, Silvia and Costa was completed. A little before 12:00 am in court room 47, where the reading of the process was given.

“Ne bis in idem” (The fundamental right not to be judged twice for the same offense), the court ruled that prosecution was “not applicable for lack of jurisdiction” since our comrades were already condemned in Switzerland for possession, transportation and handling of explosives during the attempted attack on an IBM nano-technology research center in Zurich claimed by the Earth Liberation Front, where they served sentences of more than three years. So this “fundamental right” applies to not be judged twice for the same act. Therefore, the three anarchists will not be judged in Italy.

Billy, Silvia and Costa were not present in the court room, but were informed of the results of the procedures and the support and solidarity of our comrades who were present.

Soon we will be updating with more depth about case of the three comrades.

Profession and Movement – Aufheben Scandal (UK)

March 24th, 2016

Libcom & Aufheben – Snitches, collaborators and enemies

Three years ago a small scandal took place when the Greek group TGTP published in an open letter that the co-founder of Aufheben, John Drury, lead workshops for the police and military and is known as a “provider of ideas” in these circles. These workshops took part within the framework of his academic career researching Crowd Control, mass panics and rescue operations. Together with his closest colleagues Stott and Reicher he has developed the Elaborated Social Identity Model (ESIM). The social psychologist Stott is renowned to be one of the globally leading experts for protests and violent uprisings. ESIM claims that a ‘mob’ acts according to certain patterns: people in a crowd have individual thoughts and emotions, so when the crowd is attacked indifferently by the police, people act in solidarity with each other and resist together. Therefore ESIM advices that the police should proceed in a multi-levelled approach and extract ‘individual perpetrators’ from the crowd. Using such kind of methods, Stott coordinated security preparations for the European football cup in Poland and Ukraine in 2012. (for more details see both open letters by TPTG)[1]

Aufheben is a group from Brighton, which publishes one of the few collectively produced magazines of the radical left in England. The magazine consists of mainly long articles tackling fundamental questions (what was the Soviet Union, decadence theory, “Green New Capitalism” etc.). They often deal with similar subjects as us (theory of the oil rent, criticism of Negri’s autonomist marxism, debate about Beverly Silver’s book). We have translated some of their articles (21st century Intifada, criticism of the commons thesis by Massimo de Angelis, Dole Autonomy) and have criticised them at certain points (e.g. in wildcat 89, “The oil rent, Ricardians amongst themselves”). We share similar positions when it comes to the issues of working-time reductions and guaranteed income. During the end of the 90s we initiated a closer collaboration with Aufheben and other collectives in Europe, which ultimately failed.

Therefore the revelation about John Drury came as quite a shock – which in itself would not have been a reason to write in Wildcat about it. But the way the debate about this case was lead within the left-communist scene in Europe has initially left us speechless. Most of the people shook it off (“let’s move on”) or attacked those who had made these scandalous facts public. Read the rest of this entry »

Hamburg: Churches desecrated in solidarity with Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar (Germany)

March 24th, 2016

In the early hours of March 20th 2016, unknown persons desecrated three churches in Hamburg with a fire extinguisher filled with paint, slingshot and stone. In addition to this vandalism, slogans such as “No God – No State – No patriarchy”, “Solidarity with Mónica and Francisco” and circle-A’s were spray-painted. Flyers were thrown on the streets, reading: “Religion means oppression! Against every domination! Solidarity with Mónica Caballero and Francisco Solar, anarchists imprisoned in Spain”.

Thessaloniki: Anarchists claim responsibility for destruction of mobile phone antennas (Greece)

March 24th, 2016

Modern capitalistic society is a society of control. And this because the system engages in an unending and total attempt to maintain the normality of social life. From this condition of control, the technology of surveillance could not be absent, as the technological development is directly related to the progression of authority and its ways it imposes itself.

State and capital, as active users of technology, shape this form of surveillance, aiming at profits and their own further imposition. From cameras in big cities and public transport for the security of those “who have nothing to hide” (and for this reason prefer to show everything) to the cameras in work spaces in order to “secure” our productivity and normality in consumerist procedures. And from the new biometric IDs to personal files on everyone, which is formed in relation to visited internet sites, preferences, music listened to, books read, financial transactions, data that is recorded by various colossal companies that have identified a big part of our lives with targeted ads and product promotion for consumption.

As years pass, as much as technology develops, we will have to deal more and more with inventions that, consciously or not, contribute to repression. This is a logical consequence since a big part of research on this field is financed and guided by state and inter-state authorities, as well as multinational companies that try to solve their concern for better fortification and profit production. Hambach Forest: Solidarity to imprisoned Sarah and Huba (Germany)

March 24th, 2016

After the courtcase of LAUtonomia activist Sarah on the 22 of March at the court district of Cottbus our compa Huba got arrested. Sarah was released and got arrested straight away again for something else but we do not have the info on why and for what. Sarah was in jail for a month for not giving ID after getting caught shoplifting. When leaving the courtroom civil cops and the screws hold Huba at the door and confronted him with a warrant for his arrest. The same day he saw a judge in Cottbuss. He came as a spectator for the court case and left in hand-cuffs.

Right now he is in the JVA Wriezen and will be transported to Aachen this week. He is charged with violent assault that allegedly happened the 11 of November in the cutting area of the Hambach forest.

We do not know how long it will take for Huba to arrive in Aachen. prisoner transport normally takes quite a long time. Huba will be transported from prison to prison where he will be put in one person cells with no access to books, sports or other things that you would normally get when you are in jail. when arriving in Duren he will be seeing another judge. Sabotage of coal rail transport line in Avon Gorge (UK)

March 22nd, 2016

Attacking UK’s coal transport system – Severing the lines that feed the machine

Severing the lines that feed the machine is not impossible. When people take up civil uprising in the UK, if people are able to shove their obligations to one side to open up an avenue, they mainly have the ability and possibility to be able to grasp their will for something new. The war is not over when those moments stop, it sparks up in little raptures here and there, showing that we are not crushed, things can be brought to a grinding halt again, even for a split second.

It just takes a few bright spirits and we see it clear, when the smug confidence of authorities is knocked, a few pins get hit out and things can be seen in a different light. Out of synch and off balance, everything no longer appears structurally sound, life feels more up for grabs.

The new horizon peaked through our cloudy day, Sunday 6th March, and we hope this uncomplicated act of sabotage we have undertaken exposes the vulnerability of their complex matrix.

We took a risk assessment and as night just started to close in we entered the 1st railway tunnel, we cut both lines with a portable disc cutter, we didn’t imagine de-railing a locomotive but wrecking disruption and economic damage (time is money). We entered a 2nd and did a further two cuts, marking them all with pink paint, and leaving a banner as a warning. Read the rest of this entry »

War against AKP-ISIS/Daesh: Solidarity initiative for the rebuilding of Cizre, Sur and Silopi (Kurdistan)

March 22nd, 2016

We are women from the Women’s Peace Initiative in Turkey. We are concerned about the fate of families who have been displaced as a result of the destruction caused by the Turkish Armed Forces in towns in the Kurdish region in their drive to oust the Kurdish militia. We are asking you for support to rebuild the lives of those displaced by this war.

Over the last three months 21 neighbourhoods in 7 towns of the Kurdish region in the Southeast of Turkey have been under curfew and have sustained devastation that can only be compared to that of Dresden during WWII or, more recently, Kobanê in Northern Syria.

Human rights organizations and political parties active in the region maintain that 274 people have been killed in Cizre since July 2015. 167 of these were bombed, burned and dismembered in basements they had taken refuge in. In Silopi, a border town between Iraq and Turkey, 42 people have lost their lives since July 2015. More than 30 people lost their lives in the Sur district of Diyarbakır – only in this latest curfew that has been in place over more than 95 days. Among those killed are six-month-old babies and 71-year-old men and women – this has been documented numerous times, dispelling allegations that all are combatants. Read the rest of this entry »
