Lol picture the world with a minor zombie problem. Like just 0.5% of the population gets zombified over a couple days and the world tries to continue functioning as normal. Office workers at their water dispenser stereotype wondering where Dave is and if the reason he's gone is because he's a zombie. The boss assures his staff that everything is ok. The workday goes on as normal. Sometime in the late afternoon they hear faint gunshots and the news cycle spends only a 5 second blip to mention the zombie shot outside the Parkplace Office Complex. Everyone mutters to each other their opinion before the boss steps in to tell everyone to get back to work. The government leaders downplay the threat, assuring everyone that it's OK to go on with their lives but they should carry a weapon for protection just in case. A third of the people believe it to be a hoax despite having maybe seen a zombie in the past week. They just think it's a certain political party trying to influence them and make them fearful and increase government control yet welcome authoritarian measures regardless. Every few days, one out of every 200 people goes missing and stops showing up for work. Many industries struggle to keep functioning as they were already working on slim margins, and now their random grunts, managers, and highly specialized personnel have gone missing and filling the positions with replacements is becoming too difficult. Utilities fail, services have poor uptime and availability, business profits start dipping into the negative, creating financial panic and explodes into the next global financial crisis leaving people scared, poor, and homeless, as they fear the slowly moving wave of zombification that so far nobody has found the cause for.
