Peds heme/onc sub-I advice

Agreed. Also take the time to go on the outpatient side. Learn about maintenance chemo, remission, and survivorship clinics and monitoring.

We were discharged today with our newborn child. Her medication instructions say "STOP taking ... Insulin"

True. Y’all do catch our (hopefully silly) mistakes a bunch 😂

Nurses don’t do this type of thing. Probably a “stop all inpt meds” box of the provider clicked

I hadn’t seen it the last few months of residency, so agree with the other guy about around 18 months ago. Have seen classical Kawasaki creep back up!

I’ve actually made a lot of friends tailgating and being an alumni. Even walking around to random tailgates on game day. Your mileage may vary.

Welp, let’s see how this goes

Call the office. Messages are not routinely read in a timely manner but talking to a front desk staff may escalate it

Those who were mistakenly diagnosed T2... why?

An egotistical maniac who believes they can do no wrong is a dangerous doctor. A careful doctor, aware of errors, is a good one. Hope you find the right one.

Sure. Again, 99/100 times it’s a t1, 1/100 it’s HHS, 0.01 it is T2DM DKA I guess

Medical science evolves. And so too should doctors knowledge on evaluation and treatment. I am not an expert in LADA or adult diabetes. I keep apologizing for everyone. Doctors make mistakes. It’s never an intent. People are out for blood here.

T1 can be diagnosed by what you said exactly. We’re on the same page.

Antibody testing are relatively new. HLA-DQ typing is relatively new.

There is a reason in your time it was called juvenile DM, now it is called insulin-dependent DM.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. To err as a doctor is human. It’s not ignorance. Excuse my positivity I suppose.

Antibody tests aren’t simple. Plus their results have to be interpreted in an appropriate context.

Dka is diagnosed with a hyperosmolar state with an anion gap and metabolic acidosis. Type 2 diabetics will have a hyperosmolar state without anion gaps or metabolic acidosis. These two tests are quite simple.

Plus, what did they present with? What symptoms? I don’t know these things, and that opens an entirely different set of possibilities.
