An absolutely awesome day

Written by Stevie Morrison  | 08 July 2010

We had an absolutely perfect day today; I guess a solid performance in many ways.  We managed to get 4 races in which was great, we sailed in near perfect conditions 14 to 18 knots, a little chop and sunshine.

We have four more races to get in, so we’d expect three more tomorrow and then one more on Saturday before a final medal race on Saturday.   We don’t really have a game plan; it’s about keeping our heads focused on what we have to do and putting in solid performances.

We’ve had a reasonably hard year and its fair to say we’ve been a little frustrated with our performances this year we know we are capable, more than capable at performing on the race course so it is great to be achieving on the water this last week.

We have been competing in a new boat , which we gave the rather classy name “rubber lover girl” (watch the video here), it seems we are becoming famous for the interesting boat names we have!   It would appear a little German engineering seems to have gone a long way and we are noticing a real difference in terms of boat speed on the race course, which is doing wonders for our confidence levels.

There is still a long way to go and nothing is certain, we need to keep working hard and hopefully we will come out of this regatta with a good result.   We’re in good spirits the sun is shining and we’re looking forward to a couple of good days racing ahead........
