Big-spending Shanghai Shenhua have been knocked out of the Asian Champions League before it has even begun after being beaten by Brisbane Roar in a play-off. Manager Gus Poyet, boasting a team led by the world's highest-paid footballer Carlos Tevez, saw his side become the first Chinese Super League team to lose a Champions League play-off in 14 years. Tevez, understood to be earning £615,000 per week in China, could do little as his new team were humbled at home today.
