Las Palmas defeated by La Liga strugglers Granada as Jese Rodriguez misses sitter on debut for new club while Manchester United loanee Andreas Pereira scores wonder goal

- The former Real Madrid ace could have been the hero but missed a sitter Â
- A superb Andreas Pereira long-range effort sealed the win for the home sideÂ
Jese Rodriguez is unlikely to look back fondly on his Las Palmas debut after seeing his new side fall to La Liga strugglers Granada, while squandering the chance to become an instant hero by missing a sitter.
The former Real Madrid ace, who made the switch back to Spanish football from PSG, had the opportunity to seal his first game in the colours of his home-town club with a goal.
Instead it would be Andreas Pereira of Granada, on loan from Manchester United, who would steal the limelight, delivering the goods with a sublime long-distance volley.
Jese Rodriguez will not look back fondly on his Las Palmas debut after missing a sitter
Jese came off the bench in the second half to mark his first appearance for the club, but happiness soon turned to despair after missing an open goal and the chance to get on the score sheet.
Following a passage of Las Palmas build up play, the ball was worked out wide before being fired across goal.
With goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa beaten, a waiting Jese only had to slip the ball into the open goal.Â

But Jese's effort can only be sent back across goal, much to the relief of the Grenada defence
But the former PSG winger, perhaps due to a combination of first game nerves, could only return the ball across goal to be cleared by a grateful Grenada defence.
Granada went on to edge the tie 1-0 to end a six-game winless streak and haul themselves off the the bottom of the Spanish league table.
Brazilian star Pereira rifled his effort into the top corner in the first half, hitting the ball from mid-air after failing to cleanly control a pass outside the area.

'I wasn't able to control the ball correctly,' Pereira said following the full-time whistle.
'But I made up for it with the shot. Hopefully this is a new beginning for us.'
It was Granada's second league victory this season, and the first since December at home against Sevilla.Â
Later reflecting on the game and his maiden appearance for his new club, Jese said: 'I'm happy with the debut, but not with the loss and the missed opportunities.'
Real Madrid currently lead the way in La Liga, topping the league by just one point over rivals Barcelona and three over Sevilla.Â
