Manchester United star Marouane Fellaini poses for a selfie during trip to the hairdressers as he bids to get larger-than-life afro under control

  • Marouane Fellaini shares a snap with his Twitter followers during a rare haircut
  • The Manchester United star has Premier League's most recognisable hairstyle
  • He further enhanced that fame by dying it blonde at the start of the season
  • Although his Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba might say otherwise

Maroune Fellaini's silhouette is probably the most recognisable of any Premier League star from past and present. That arguable claim is down to one thing and one thing alone: his afro.

The Manchester United star has built his brand around the larger-than-life hairdo with punters around Old Trafford making ends meet by selling wigs on match days.

Those same punters will be biting their nails for the next few days after Fellaini posted a picture on Twitter suggesting famous fro's days could well be numbered.

He snapped a selfie while getting his hair done at a local grooming parlour with the ominously simple caption: 'Here we go'.

Exactly how much off the top Fellaini has asked for was not immediately clear but fans can expect to see a fresh look if and when he lines up against Watford this coming Saturday.

Of course, the former Everton star is unlikely to get rid of the one thing that makes him recognisable to most of the footballing world, and he may just be getting a touch up on the blonde hair dye he has sported since the summer.

He did opt for a more conventional look in the summer of 2014, shaving his hair following Belgium's elimination from the World Cup. It didn't last long, however, with a baby afro reappearing just a month later.

While his hair is a lot less tended too than that of Paul Pogba's, it has sparked just as much interest as that of his French team-mate.

The £89million man changes styles on a weekly basis, regularly getting new patterns shaved in ahead of big clashes. Yet he still finds himself fighting Fellaini for the title of the Premier League's most-loved hairdo.
