Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News Over the last year a quasi-religious turf war has sprung up on the streets of London. Young radicalised Muslim patrols are enforcing Shariah law in the capital. In reaction, far right Christian Patrols are also taking the law into their own hands. Since the Woolwich killing, anti-Muslim rhetoric as been at an all time high, and the right-wing Christian Patrols are only exacerbating the rising tensions. These two marginalised but potentially dangerous London subcultures believe that society has failed their communities enough that they are now taking to the streets to implement or defend their ways of life, according to their opposing politicised and religious ideologies. The irony being that while their shared aggressive approach has resulted in media coverage and media panic, they ultimately are responsible for and justify each other's existence. Alex Miller meets the leaders and footsoldiers in Britain's holy street patrols, the Anjem Choudary's followers Muslim Patrol and Paul Golding of Britain First's Christian Patrol, in the same area he lives and works, to find out just how effective their operations are, and how genuine their belief is in the battle for East London's streets. Blue Watch rescue a young boy's cat from a tree, only for Vaseline to accidentally run it over. En route back to the station a man waves the pump down and directs them to a public toilet, where another man is unconscious. It appears to be a case of "queer bashing", and both Malcolm and Charisma are reluctant to perform mouth to mouth, so Tate does it himself. Blue Watch pull an old appliance through the streets and raise £1,200 to pay for a disabled boy's operation. Charisma meets Nicola through a lonely hearts ad. George picks them up and also takes a fancy to her. At Nicola's request, Charisma walks into her bedroom wearing his uniform and as he does so, she takes a photo of him; her room is full of photographs of men in uniform. She then asks him to leave. At a shout at derelict house on fire, Vaseline's boots catch fire - he had been using them to moonlight as a gardener and they were covered in fertiliser. The watch are unable to save the dosser but they rescue his cat and give it to the boy whose cat was run over earlier. Bayleaf invites Josie to his for dinner, and they are interrupted by Karen returning unexpectedly. Two robbers break into a yuppy's flat and cement his feet into his toilet. The man is later wheeled out, still cemented to the toilet, while the watch, particulaly Malcolm, struggle not to laugh. The money raised by Blue Watch is stolen, and the police arrive to investigate. George meets with Nicola and she takes his photograph too; he and Charisma agree not to mention her to anyone else. A depressed old lady commits suicide by stepping in front of traffic in a main road, causing a huge pile up. Sicknote subsequently finds her severed head and is physically sick. Dorothy Sanderson borrows money from a loan shark, but when Tony finds out he is furious and returns it the same day. Dorothy tells Josie that it was Tony who took the money and she helps Tony return it without anyone else noticing.
Blue Watch have a photo taken with the retiring ADO Petrie. Maggie is in tears, despite Bayleaf pointing out that the ADO is only retiring. Josie is tasked w...

Since I live in central London it seems a terrible shame not to have done many videos of this fantastic city, so here goes. On the day I managed to get stuck in a couple of traffic jams, and the weather, having started well, turned somewhat grey. Anyway I managed to include Hammersmith bridge, Albert Bridge, Chelsea Bridge, Vauxhall Bridge, Lambeth Bridge, Westminster Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Blackfriars Bridge, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. I had to avoid Putney bridge, Battersea Bridge, Southwark Bridge, and the Millennium Bridge due to lack of time and heavy traffic, so perhaps I'll do another video soon. Can you Identify which bridge is which?? Answers below please.... Original music is by Heather Fenoughty

Travel video about destination London in England. London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts. The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison. After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created. The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began. Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex. The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

Here it is, our pilot episode! Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful. In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right. In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch this and welcome any thoughts, feedback, ideas, and suggestions for future episodes. Travel is my passion and I'm excited to share it with you. Oh and don't forget to subscribe for new episodes in a city near you! Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/attache_travel Currency conversion tool: http://www.xe.com/

The sleepy residential suburb is conveniently located in South London and thanks to it's excellent transport links, it only takes 15 minutes to get here. Clapham high street is a great place to buy some gifts, there's a wide range of varied and exciting shops to check out. I also visited the 24 hour market on Venn Street. It's a great place to pick up some locally grown vegetables and freshly baked goods. Many travel to Clapham for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and if peace and quiet is what you're after then Clapham Common is the place for you. Anglo Saxons first settled on the common in 1887, now-a-days it's used purely for recreation and hosts many music festival. Whether you're into football or dogging, there's something for everyone on the common. Skiddle 2015-03-31London i/ˈlʌndən/ is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, the largest metropolitan area in the United Kingdom, and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. Located on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its square-mile mediaeval boundaries. Since at least the 19th century, the name London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms the London region and the Greater London administrative area, governed by the elected Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
London is a leading global city, with strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development, tourism and transport all contributing to its prominence. It is the world's leading financial centre alongside New York City and has the fifth-largest city GDP in the world (and the largest in Europe). London has been described as a world cultural capital. It was the world's most visited city during 2011 and London Heathrow is the world's busiest airport by number of international passengers. London's 43 universities form the largest concentration of higher education in Europe. In 2012 London will become the first city to host the modern Summer Olympic Games three times.
John Griffith "Jack" London (born John Griffith Chaney, January 12, 1876 – November 22, 1916) was an American author, journalist, and social activist. He was a pioneer in the then-burgeoning world of commercial magazine fiction and was one of the first fiction writers to obtain worldwide celebrity and a large fortune from his fiction alone. He is best remembered as the author of Call of the Wild and White Fang, both set in the Klondike Gold Rush, as well as the short stories "To Build a Fire", "An Odyssey of the North", and "Love of Life".[citation needed] He also wrote of the South Pacific in such stories as "The Pearls of Parlay" and "The Heathen", and of the San Francisco Bay area in The Sea Wolf.
London was a passionate advocate of unionization, socialism, and the rights of workers and wrote several powerful works dealing with these topics such as his dystopian novel, The Iron Heel and his non-fiction exposé, The People of the Abyss.
Jack London's mother, Flora Wellman, was the fifth and youngest child of Pennsylvania Canal builder Marshall Wellman and his first wife, Eleanor Garrett Jones. Marshall Wellman was a great-great-great-grandson of Puritan Thomas Wellman. Flora left Ohio and moved to the Pacific coast when her father remarried after her mother died. In San Francisco, Flora worked as a music teacher and spiritualist claiming to channel the spirit of an Indian chief.
