First up, there are the crowds drawn to Camden by the famous Camden Market. We don't go past the market, but head towards the Holloway Road (where the trams used to run) and continue along Seven Sisters Road to Finsbury Park Station, where we see football supporters gathering for a friendly drink before making their way to White Hart Lane (RESULT: Arsenal beat Tottenham 1-0 - bad luck Spurs!). Then we see Finsbury Park itself - packed with sun worshippers on this uncommonly fine Spring day. At 19:18, you come to Manor House, an old divisional HQ of London Transport Buses, where I remember seeing Routemasters doing U-turns in the road outside (not so dangerous in those days!) From Stamford Hill Station onwards, you will see the Orthodox Jews and their children (all wearing ceremonial dress) celebrating Purim; there are street parties, and Yiddish music is playing everywhere (watch out for the open-top Routemaster on the left at 28:30). This all causes a bit of traffic congestion.
Because I have edited out the dwell time at bus stops, you will only rarely hear the awful noise this bus makes when the centre doors close - it sounds like a cheap car alarm!
After Clapton Pond, the bus turns south, and I'm afraid the video quality drops off as the bus drives into the sun. The last couple of clips show the newish trains on the London Overground at Hackney Central - even on a Sunday, these trains are packed!

Hackney Central is the central district of the London Borough of Hackney in London, England. It comprises the area roughly surrounding, and extending north from Mare Street. It is situated 4 miles (6.4 km) north east of Charing Cross. It is also the name of Hackney Central ward, an electoral division for Hackney Council.
Hackney Central is the area that once would have been known as Hackney Village. This was a place that flourished from the Tudor period, when principal members of the Court had their houses in the surrounding area, and King Henry VIII of England had a palace (located near the modern Lee Bridge Road roundabout). Hackney Central remained a popular resort for Londoners until the end of the Georgian era, when this suburb of London began to be completely built up. Railways, trams and factories brought an end to Hackney's rural atmosphere during the Victorian era, and its fortunes declined.
The industries of nearby Homerton and the Lee Valley have largely disappeared, leaving the NHS and local council as the largest employers. Successive waves of immigrants, both from abroad and within the United Kingdom, make modern Hackney a culturally vibrant part of inner London, with both the benefits and challenges that this brings.

CONTENT NOTE: Very strong language, homophobic slurs. Walking home from work today, I heard a man shouting a homophobic slur at someone across the town hall square. I quickly walked over to tell him it wasn't okay to speak like that, and I wasn't alone - a passing cyclist stopped on the road, another stranger and a crowd of people from the bus stop all made it very clear that homophobia is not okay. It was an unpleasant situation, but so heartwarming to see people standing up against discrimination in this way. -

From Stamford Hill Station onwards, you will see the Orthodox Jews and their children (all wearing ceremonial dress) celebrating Purim; there are street parties, and Yiddish music is playing everywhere (watch out for the open-top Routemaster on the left at 28:30). This all causes a bit of traffic congestion.
Because I have edited out the dwell time at bus stops, you will only rarely hear the awful noise this bus makes when the centre doors close - it sounds like a cheap car alarm!
After Clapton Pond, the bus turns south, and I'm afraid the video quality drops off as the bus drives into the sun. The last couple of clips show the newish trains on the London Overground at Hackney Central - even on a Sunday, these trains are packed!

PS. Bus lanes would be great, if they were in force 24x7, and nobody else was allowed in them! See if you can spot the incredibly dangerous manoeuvre forced on the bus driver by a parkled car.

CONTENT NOTE: Very strong language, homophobic slurs. Walking home from work today, I heard a man shouting a homophobic slur at someone across the town hall square. I quickly walked over to tell him it wasn't okay to speak like that, and I wasn't alone - a passing cyclist stopped on the road, another stranger and a crowd of people from the bus stop all made it very clear that homophobia is not okay. It was an unpleasant situation, but so heartwarming to see people standing up against discrimination in this way.

I had few drinks in Area, Union, The Eagle, Fire, The Hoist, and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern but there were barely any girls in sight… perhaps it was the X Factor final night and they were all at home watching Dermot Murnaghan and the gang.
I made loads of friends though, everyone is so friendly here especially Paulo. He wants to meet up again tomorrow and has an exciting day planned for us, something to do with cottages or something.
Getting to Vauxhall is easy, planes fly to Vauxhall International Airport frequently but the lack of a runway prevents them from landing. However, train, car or tricycle is also a good option. The cost of visiting any of Vauxhall’s nightclubs varies and poppers are available at an additional cost.

[British Bus Rides] Arriva London North 253 from Euston to Hackney Central (whole route)

I chose this route because it shows a London that the tourist will rarely see (like Holloway Prison!) First up, there are the crowds drawn to Camden by the famous Camden Market. We don't go past the market, but head towards the Holloway Road (where the trams used to run) and continue along Seven Sisters Road to Finsbury Park Station, where we see football supporters gathering for a friendly drink before making their way to White Hart Lane (RESULT: Arsenal beat Tottenham 1-0 - bad luck Spurs!). Then we see Finsbury Park itself - packed with sun worshippers on this uncommonly fine Spring day. At 19:18, you come to Manor House, an old divisional HQ of London Transport Buses, where I remember seeing Routemasters doing U-turns in the road outside (not so dangerous in those days!) From Stamford Hill Station onwards, you will see the Orthodox Jews and their children (all wearing ceremonial dress) celebrating Purim; there are street parties, and Yiddish music is playing everywhere (watch out for the open-top Routemaster on the left at 28:30). This all causes a bit of traffic congestion. Because I have edited out the dwell time at bus stops, you will only rarely hear the awful noise this bus makes when the centre doors close - it sounds like a cheap car alarm! After Clapton Pond, the bus turns south, and I'm afraid the video quality drops off as the bus drives into the sun. The last couple of clips show the newish trains on the London Overground at Hackney Central - even on a Sunday, these trains are packed! Filmed on Sunday 16th March 2014. PS. Bus lanes would be great, if they were in force 24x7, and nobody else was allowed in them! See if you can spot the incredibly dangerous manoeuvre forced on the bus driver by a parkled car.- published: 18 Mar 2014

The colourful suburb of Vauxhall is located alongside the River Thames, not far from Central London and it’s the perfect place for a day out for all the family. Vauxhall is home to the Secret Intelligence Service building, MI6. So, it's no surprise that Vauxhall was the birth place of James Bond. There's even a local school named after the top British spy. History has played a significant part in the story of Vauxhall and looking around today, there are signs of the area’s past everywhere. From this wall, to these shops. Even this post box was made in the past. Vauxhall, often known locally as Voho is known for its nightlife so while in the area I decided to go out and find myself a pretty girl. I had few drinks in Area, Union, The Eagle, Fire, The Hoist, and the Royal Vauxhall Tavern but there were barely any girls in sight… perhaps it was the X Factor final night and they were all at home watching Dermot Murnaghan and the gang. I made loads of friends though, everyone is so friendly here especially Paulo. He wants to meet up again tomorrow and has an exciting day planned for us, something to do with cottages or something. Getting to Vauxhall is easy, planes fly to Vauxhall International Airport frequently but the lack of a runway prevents them from landing. However, train, car or tricycle is also a good option.
