Bohai Sea Oil Leak Causes Long-Term Environmental Impact
For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com More details are coming out about Bohai Sea oil spill. In their first official press conference since the news was announced last Friday... officials are saying the oil leak has caused long-term environmental damage. The State Oceanic Administration said in a public statement that is was issuing an investigation on the two companies, CNOOC and US oil giant ConocoPhillips, that own the offshore oil site where the spill happened. Evidence is currently being collected to account for the damage. Li Xiaoming, who heads the ocean administration's Marine Environmental Protection Division, says that the oil had seriously contaminated the water, ranking it worst on the administrator's four-grade pollution scale. While the spill is largely under control now, Xiaoming says there are still some (quote) "leaking points" that continue to pollute the ocean. Dead seaweed and rotting fish could be found floating near Nanhuangcheng Island... about 45 miles away from the center of the spill. Local fisheries authorities are saying the environmental impact is long-term. Further investigation will be necessary to figure out the entire extent of the damage. Controversy continues to surround the story. The spill happened back on June 4th, but authorities kept it under wraps for nearly a month.

Great Wall....Old Dragon's Head.....Boat ride around bohai sea... 6th June 2012.
老龙头Laolongtou (Old Dragon's Head) is the most eastern end of the Great Wall. It is 5 kilometers (3 miles) north of Shanhai Pass, and extends about 23 meters (75 ft) into the Bohai Sea, like a dragon dipping his head drinking water from the sea, hence its name. Lisa & George were afraid of teh boat..!!!!

China launches cruise ship that doubles as a military transport
The Chinese military commissioned the Bohai Sea Green Pearl, a 36000-ton ferry, on August 8 at Yantai Port in Shandong Province. The ship is designed to be a civilian transport vessel as well as an "amphibious augmentation platform" for the transport of troops and heavy equipment. The Green Pearl can carry a brigade, or more than 2000 troops, and several hundred military vehicles. It is also equipped with a helicopter pad. China currently has three more of the vessels under construction and plans a total of six ships.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority for a construction of a new deepwater container terminal.
The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) Priyath Wickrama has said that the port was in the final stages of negotiations with a private investor consortium, led by China Merchant Holdings, for the construction of a new deepwater container terminal. This years ice situation in Chinas Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea has brought good tidings to the Port of Dalian. The port did not experience any ice and experienced a throughput increase of 21.7 percent year-on-year. Congestion at Australian ports is expected to get worse within the next two weeks with the arrival of a further 153 vessels arriving, adding to the queue of 181 Capesize, Panamax and Handymax ships anchored off the countrys main coal and iron ore ports.

A journey with Chinese fishermen in Bohai sea
Because of overfishing, industrial pollution and even oil spills, Bohai sea is no longer reliable for local population. But what else can they do? So many people keep on fishing despite bans and quotas on resource. Just like in this village near Changli, Hebei province.

Beyond Beijing: Qingdao & Qinhuangdao
While their names sound similar, these two cities in northeast China are totally different. Qingdao’s challenging coastal waters attract legions of windsurfers. Now sailing has become part of the elementary school curriculum. And the owner of an area youth hostel can regularly be seen leading a parade of novice sailors down to Qingdao harbor.
There's also an active music and art scene, that's attracted both local and international talent.
Nearby is Laoshan Mountain, one of the ancestral homes of Taoism. No cut-off jeans or fashionable haircuts here. Instead, chanting monks repeat rituals that date back an estimated 1,300 years.
Qinhuangdao is considered a “small” city by Chinese standards, given it is home to “only” 700,000 people. The history of this city is also connected to the sea, for this is where the legendary Great Wall meets the Bohai Bay. With that comes both elaborate history and complicated mythology. But often it is difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins.
I was the Series Producer/Writer, as well as Producer/Director of selected segments. It would never have been possible without the help of Co-Producer Jiang Weihui. The Coordinating Producer was Julie Jinwen Dai. The series was narrated by Chris Verrell.
