West Redonda Island is an island in British Columbia, Canada. It is part of the Discovery Islands, an archipelago between Vancouver Island and the mainland, and between the Strait of Georgia and Johnstone Strait.
West Redonda Island is located west of East Redonda Island, northwest of Cortes Island, southeast of Raza Island, and south of the mainland between Toba Inlet and Bute Inlet within Electoral Area C of the Strathcona Regional District.
The island is separated from the smaller East Redonda Island by Waddington Channel, from Cortes Island by Lewis Channel, from Raza Island by Deer Passage, and from the mainland by Pryce Channel. Desolation Sound lies just south of West Redonda Island.
The west side of the island is indented by Teakerne Arm, an inlet off Lewis Channel. 50°07′26″N 124°50′24″W / 50.12392°N 124.8401°W / 50.12392; -124.8401 at the south end of West Redonda Island Both Redonda Islands were sighted in 1792 by the Spanish explorers Galiano and Valdés and given the name Isla Redonda, meaning "round". The ships of Galiano and Valdés spent several days anchored near the two ships under George Vancouver in Lewis Channel and Teakerne Arm off the west coast of West Redonda Island. From this base the two expeditions sent out boat parties to explore the many islands and channels in the area, sharing their findings with one another.
Redonda is an uninhabited Caribbean island which is politically part of Antigua and Barbuda, in the Leeward Islands, West Indies. The island is about 1 mile (1.6 km) long, 0.3 miles (0.48 km) wide, and is 971 feet high at its highest point.
This small island lies between the islands of Nevis and Montserrat, 56.2 kilometres (34.9 mi) southwest of Antigua. Redonda is closer to Montserrat than to any other island; it is located at 22.5 kilometres (14.0 mi) northwest of Montserrat, and 32 kilometres (20 mi) southeast of Nevis.
Redonda is home to vast numbers of sea birds, and the island was an important source of guano before artificial fertilizers started to be mass-produced. Guano-mining operations started in the 1860s and ceased after the start of World War I. During these mining operations a few buildings and other installations were put in place on the island, and some physical remnants of that phase in its history are still visible.
The island was named by Columbus in 1493. "Redonda" is the female form of the Spanish language adjective meaning "round". "Santa Maria de la Redonda" is a church in Seville, Spain, named for the Virgin Mary.
Redonda is a butterfly genus from the subfamily Satyrinae in the family Nymphalidae. The genus is endemic from the Páramos in the Cordillera de Mérida in Venezuela, in northern South America. There are 10 known species, which are separated in distinct mountain ranges. Most species show some degree of sexual dimorphism in wingsize, in the most extreme cases females show some degree of wing deformation which might point to incipient brachyptery.
The genus was described by Adams & Bernard in 1981 based on wing venation, male genitalia, wing color pattern and ecological characteristics of the type species Pedaliodes empetrus originally described by german entomologist Theodor Otto Thieme in 1905. These authors considered the genus to be monobasic, but recognized two subspecies, and suggested a close relationship with two other endemic genera in isolated mountain ranges.
Another species was described 20 years later, Redonda bordoni, from the southwest corner of the cordillera de Mérida in Táchira. Other taxa were already recognized, but there were evident gaps in distribution and ecological data and no formal description was attempted until 2015. There are 10 currently recognized and described species:

Here's a basics tutorial on a pattern many systems of Arnis have: the Redonda. I'll show you guys how this is done, step by step, and how I like to play with it for my anyo or exhibitions. Note that different systems and styles of Arnis can have some variations and nuances to the same concepts. These videos I make are meant for beginners looking to learn more or as a supplement to those exploring outside their styles. If you need reference material for a specific curriculum or exam from a specific club, make sure to know how they do things so as not to get confused. :) My secret vlog https://www.patreon.com/danielbernas Awesome Beginner Martial Arts Course: https://www.martialartsdigitalseminars.com/a/9725/Cakd2qFL Great FMA Course: https://www.martialartsdigitalseminars.com/a/18967/C...
What was once a barren ‘moonscape’ has now been rejuvenated as a gem of the Caribbean. The Redonda Ecosystem Reserve, part of Antigua and Barbuda, covers almost 75,000 acres (30,000 hectares) of land and sea that has now been granted protected area status. The new designation is the result of the ongoing efforts of the government of Antigua and Barbuda, particularly the Department of Environment (DoE) and local and international conservation NGOs, including the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG), Fauna & Flora and Re:wild. This now lush wildlife sanctuary protects the entire island, its surrounding seagrass meadows and coral reefs. The Redonda Ecosystem Reserve is home to at least 30 globally threatened and near-threatened species, along with globally important seabird colonies.
The EAG and its partners are excited to share a teaser from our upcoming documentary entitled “Redonda: The Road To Recovery”. The conservation story of Redonda has been a true testament to the power of restoration and we are happy to be sharing it with you. The documentary drops this SUMMER, so stayed tuned because you wouldn’t want to miss it!
