For Gods sake, just kneel

I love this guy omg

[–]mbnmac 1131 points1132 points  (40 children)

That was a bit Jeff goldblumy too

[–]SuddenlyCrabWaffles 641 points642 points  (26 children)

Now that you mention it, it's like they've both got the same funny/bumbling speech, just at radically different cadence.

[–]Albert_Caboose 429 points430 points  (22 children)

Owen sounds a little bit more aloof whereas Goldblum sounds like someone as smooth and suave as Jeff Goldblum.

[–]gHHqdm5a4UySnUFMHeimdall 424 points425 points  (5 children)

Jeff Goldblum sounds like he’s trying to divert your attention while he pickpockets you or sells you a car.

[–]Kladinov 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Why is this so accurate lmao

[–]GregorSamsaaCaptain America (Ultron) 54 points55 points  (1 child)

Yup, like he’s trying to pull one over on you but wants to make sure you enjoy the experience lol

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Real class act grifter.

[–]jashbyy12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Laughed out loud lmao had to give you a silver

[–]Kanin_usagi 118 points119 points  (11 children)

Jeff Goldblum sounds almost Goldbloom-esque, ya know?

[–]Albert_Caboose 48 points49 points  (3 children)

It's similar to how Gilbert Gottfried sounds like Gilbert Gottfried, but also like Gilbert Gottfried.

[–]chasesj 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Although it might be easy to dismiss but there are powerful actors who careers were built by people liking the way they sound. Look at Christopher Lee and David Attenborough.

[–]ShepRat 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Michael Caine, Christopher Walken, Sean Connery. Obviously there is more than just a unique sound for film, but that has definitely been a factor for many.

[–]baddie_PRO 12 points13 points  (2 children)

first Cumberbatch, now Goldblum?

[–]BakulaSelleck92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How dare you speak to me

I didnt even need to follow the link to understand that reference. #sixseasonsandamovie

[–]Californie_cramoisie 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Yeah, it reminded me perhaps even more of Jeff Goldblum's character in Thor Ragnarok than Owen Wilson

[–]the_umm_guy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I got BIG Sam Rockwell vibes

[–]Dr_Disaster 71 points72 points  (0 children)

That was the best part. Something about the cadence just made me crack up.

[–]MauriceEscargot 439 points440 points  (6 children)

When that one German guy stands up "Wow"

[–]kalitarios 345 points346 points  (5 children)

"Not to men like you"

"Well you see, that's where you're wrong. You're wrong. There are no men like me"

"There will always be men like you"

"Wow! Wow. Ok. I can respect that. Hey, everyone. Look to your elder..."

I can totally read that in his voice.

[–]HalfBad 40 points41 points  (4 children)

Straight up read this lighting maqueens voice

[–]talonesDaredevil 189 points190 points  (4 children)

You know he did a good impression when he didnt even say wow

[–]dontbelikeyou 85 points86 points  (2 children)

Classy as fuck not just relying on that as a crutch

[–]Freakychee 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I mean, close your eyes and it really does seem like it was Owen Wilson. Pure acting skill.

[–]curtyrty456456 30 points31 points  (11 children)

There was some Jeff Goldblum in there.

[–]_-__-__-__-__-_-_-__Rocket 33 points34 points  (7 children)

I go visit her in high school and all the guys she goes to school with are, like, strong and handsome and really, like, funny and do good impressions of Jeff Goldblum and shit like that. And, like, I just feel like a fat, dumb fuckin' stinky-ass turd when I'm there.

[–]Grifflicious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ah man. Fuck Jeff Goldblum, man!

[–]IamPlantHead 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I totally see Jeff Goldblum, but I also see Nic Cage..

[–]GumInMyMouth 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Your Jeff Goldblum impression made me pee my pants

[–]bournecaindeltaDoctor Strange 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understood that reference

[–]The_BroomflingerSHIELD 1994 points1995 points  (81 children)

I am already waiting for Loki to do an impression of Mobius in the show.

[–]bradley322 542 points543 points  (24 children)

Loki’s version would be quite different from Hiddleston’s, he’d just transform into Mobius

[–]GaliphileYondu 386 points387 points  (13 children)

Owen Wilson playing Loki playing Mobius. Wow.

[–]cesiumbathbombThe Collector 165 points166 points  (9 children)

If Owen Wilson sees this clip and copies it, we could have Owen Wilson playing Tom Hiddleston playing Owen Wilson playing Loki. Wow.

[–]ask_me_about_cats 85 points86 points  (4 children)

“I’m a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.”

[–]Kanin_usagi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Face-Off 2: Into the Marvel-Verse

[–]bobthegoon89Thor 36 points37 points  (1 child)

not if they're still at the TVA and he can't use his powers

[–]FourEyesWhitePerson 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well he can’t use his magic in the TVA so he’d have to settle for a classic impression

[–]Scyhaz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

On my way down to coordinate search and rescue

[–]theblankpages 242 points243 points  (48 children)

There’s still time.

[–]The_BroomflingerSHIELD 141 points142 points  (11 children)

It's def going to happen, and/or Mobius imitating Loki. For sure.

[–]brothersand 62 points63 points  (7 children)

This.

I mean, if Mobius doesn't mockingly impersonate Loki at some point it's going to feel like something's missing. An unplayed note in the song.

[–]SacreFor3 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can confirm Loki will actually transform into Mobius so Owen Wilson will technically be doing a Hiddleston Loki impression.

[–]crampedstyl 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Has Loki ever impersonated someone without morphing into them?

[–]jasonbourne92 42 points43 points  (35 children)

Time works differently in the TVA

[–]AllRadioisDeadHydra 23 points24 points  (34 children)

....what does that mean?

[–]brothersand 41 points42 points  (12 children)

So, on a guess, just going with what we've seen so far and the visuals of that place, I'm thinking the TVA exists outside of what we would conventionally call Time. It's an artificial pocket space outside of the universe. That's why the Infinity Stones have no power there. All of the cosmic forces they govern are not there. Not naturally anyway. The Stones are artifacts from the creation of our universe. The TVA is not part of that.

So setting the rate of time is like setting the thermostat there. It's all artificial. Hit a switch and a person spot-rewinds in time? That's an amazing power. That whole place is built on some form of time travel tech that is nothing like the quantum crossing technique that Stark solved. They probably have rooms and people living time backwards just to make sure it sticks to history. Maybe it all does, how would we know? Apparently you can exit from the TVA into any point in the history of the universe. And their job is to make sure it stays one universe.

I'm getting the vibe that things may go very wrong and we end up in the "multiverse" problem the little cartoon watch talked about. Hello Secret Wars.

[–]aloofloofah 12 points13 points  (8 children)

That boy needs therapy

[–]amalgam_reynolds 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly though, Owen Wilson kills it as Mobius. Outstanding character.

[–]Fiendish-DoctorWu 979 points980 points  (34 children)

Tom Hiddleston, so hot right now.

[–]SrslyCmmon 74 points75 points  (4 children)

He's always been hot

[–]BatmanNoPrep 30 points31 points  (0 children)

OP is making a Zoolander reference to a character played by Owen Wilson.

[–]sydneyunderfoot 31 points32 points  (2 children)

Except during his Taylor Swift phase, that was hard to watch.

[–]ThatB0yAintR1ght 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He was just driving the Getaway Car for her.

[–]angry_cabbie 18 points19 points  (3 children)

More and more I'm happy he didn't get the role of Thor.

[–]nowherewhyman 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Wait, what? Hiddleston was considered for the original Thor role? That just seems... off? The gigantic blonde aussie is kinda spot on, although I guess for extra authenticity they could have gone with a gigantic blonde nordic actor instead.

[–]Flippity_Flappity 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Hansel is so hot right now.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

And with Owen Wilson their stock goes through the roof

[–]ThighsofJustice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, Tom Hiddleston, so hot PERIOD

[–][deleted] 1189 points1190 points  (78 children)

Hiddleston is such a good impressionist. His Chris Evans is almost uncanny. Also his Jeff Goldblum.

[–]CoolCly 861 points862 points  (40 children)

I know what you mean, that scene in the Dark World where Loki transforms into Steve Rogers was so good. Hiddleston really nailed it. It was almost like they got Chris Evans to show up for just that one scene.

[–]MyNameIs_JordanIron Man (Mark XLII) 482 points483 points  (29 children)

https://youtu.be/4aWLi8IWQeQ

The original cut of that scene actually had Tom dressed as Captain America doing an impression

[–]whitecollarzomb13 223 points224 points  (17 children)

Man I’ve never seen an unedited cut scene like that before. It’s crazy how much the costumes squeak when they move and how loud their footsteps are.

Post production sound editors must be on the ball big time.

[–]foleac 60 points61 points  (16 children)

They use ADR.

Adult Diapers, Reusable.

[–]ImBusyGoAwayThor 15 points16 points  (7 children)

Which means what

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (5 children)

Automated dialogue replacement. Actors rerecord lines in a booth and they replace that audio over the original

[–]ImBusyGoAwayThor 12 points13 points  (1 child)

No way, I'd never have guessed that! Ty.

[–]Redeem123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Be careful - you’ve now been cursed with knowledge. You’ll start to see it everywhere.

[–]GrungySheriff 139 points140 points  (8 children)

one of my favorite things about that is how when Tom moves, you can see the shield bottom kinda hover away and then when Chris is in the scene, it stays close.

[–]-screamin-Doctor Strange 49 points50 points  (3 children)

Yeah, Evans is used to showing that the shield has weight, whereas Hiddleston isn't.

[–]New_Age_Hipster 15 points16 points  (3 children)

What does this sentence mean?

[–]SirLaxer 48 points49 points  (2 children)

I think he’s trying to say that in Hiddleston’s hands, the shield looks flimsy and lightweight as he’s moving (especially when he turns to face Thor, it looks like it’s floating).

But when Evans is using it, he masks the fact that it’s a lightweight prop by holding it in a way that suggests it’s heavy.

[–]nowherewhyman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The shield has also been shown to be entirely CGI at times in some of the behind the scenes bits, and Chris Evans is basically holding nothing. He probably had to really program himself to pretend he was holding a substantially weighty piece of equipment even when he had nothing in his hand.

Edit: Anthony Mackie also does a really good job of this in FatWS, especially those training scenes when he's tossing it all over the place and visibly recoils when catching it, with him eventually using the recoil to transition into another move. Which is super cool when you realize there was never an actual shield in those scenes at all.

Also, the "shield" Loki is holding in this scene literally isn't even real. It's not even there. Loki is holding nothing. He can set the rules for it in any way he wants. To him, it's just part of the getup.

[–]ask_me_about_cats 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That was a pretty solid impression. Maybe one of the best I’ve heard him do yet.

[–]roy20050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man those few lines where really good I wish it went on longer.

[–]Fraun_Pollen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute…

[–]yuvraj_birdi 39 points40 points  (5 children)

Has anyone seen his Graham Norton? Because that was spot on as well.

[–]Juan_Nieve 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Here’s a clip of it in case no one has seen it! I was super impressed by his Pacino impression.

Hiddleston impersonates Graham Norton

Hiddleston impersonates Al Pacino, Owen Wilson, Robert DeNiro, and Christopher Walken

[–]i_need_a_nap 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Wow thanks for sharing that was incredible

[–]HugoEmbossed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Welcome welcome welcome.

[–]ellieanne100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! That one was amazing. He really nailed it.

[–]Zosoj 22 points23 points  (0 children)

His Chris Evans talking to Chris Hemsworth about muscles is uncanny. Then just throw in some Korg for good measure.

[–]-screamin-Doctor Strange 22 points23 points  (5 children)

Dude, as an Aussie, I heard his Chris Hemsworth and my jaw literally dropped... one of the best Aussie accents I have heard in a long, long time. I know my accent is based on the British one and it might make it easier for Brits to do a decent Aussie, but holy shit, if you just had the audio of that, I would have thought that was genuinely Chris Hemsworth doing a joke Loki impression. Do you know how many terrible Aussie accents I have heard?? Spouting worn clichés? (Endearing but worn nonetheless - I don't know if it's too much to hope noone will ever tell me to chuck another 'shrimp on the barbie' again, noone here says shrimp, goddammit!) So yeah, this was a genuine pleasure to listen to.

By the way, keep watching that video, it's packed full of insane Hiddleston impressions. He impresses fucking Robert De Niro with his Robert De Niro in Heat impression, for God's sake. The dude is ridiculously talented and it's as plain as the nose on your face that Marvel Studios lucked the fuck out picking him up as Loki.

edit: any Aussies around may also enjoy this video, in which Hiddleston excels at a general Aussie accent (not an impression of Hemsworth) and shoots the shit with the moderator about the goddamn NRL. No "shrimp" or "knoives" to speak of; if I didn't know who he was, I would just think he was from NSW.

[–]Theoretical_Action 60 points61 points  (2 children)

I legitimately thought the Evans impression was actually Chris Evans doing a voiceover during that scene?

[–][deleted] 134 points135 points  (1 child)

In the movies it’s Evans. But he’s done his impressions of him a few times in interviews / panels — here’s a compilation of just Evans (and a little hemsworth). The last one in this video where he’s doing Evans reacting to him coming offstage in his Loki outfit kills me every time.

https://youtu.be/ALXA3O6mHqY

[–]dtwhitecp 50 points51 points  (0 children)

the followup Hemsworth impression always kills me

[–]_-__-__-__-__-_-_-__Rocket 23 points24 points  (10 children)

Man, fuck Jeff Goldblum

[–]demons-yelling 25 points26 points  (1 child)

[–][deleted] 71 points72 points  (1 child)

This is an old one sadly.

[–]MimsyIsGiannaBlack Widow (CA 2) 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oh... I should have guessed based on his hair...

[–]Prior_Egg_40 103 points104 points  (14 children)

There was some Jeff Goldblum in there.

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (9 children)

He did a few seconds of Goldblum to Goldblum once… super short (starts at 2:22 here) but darn good

https://youtu.be/ERg5rV74vQk

Obligatory Tom Hiddleston on Graham Norton link

[–]theghostofmeAlexander Pierce 39 points40 points  (2 children)

[–]taatchle86Yondu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Damn I forgot about that bit, it was so funny. Also loved when Conan would talk “via satellite” to celebrities (actually just Robert Smigel) like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

[–]JScotty28x 334 points335 points  (2 children)

Can you win an Oscar during a press junket?

[–]YeoDaddy77 99 points100 points  (1 child)

I like how he did that totally on the spot. It doesn’t seem like he ever practiced that impression before, just did it off the top. There are very few really good impressionist that can do that.

[–]emc5309 260 points261 points  (5 children)

Holy shit this is perfect lmao

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (3 children)

Before he started I was thinking how he could do this other than saying "wow". I was pleasantly surprised.

[–]tromnation 126 points127 points  (3 children)

He is burdened with great talent. Wow, amazing.

[–]insertwittynamethere 56 points57 points  (2 children)

Glorious*

[–]tromnation 23 points24 points  (1 child)

At first I though you were just complimenting my comment, but then I realized my foolish error. And I thank you wise internet stranger for the correction.

[–]mrblacklabel71Phil Coulson 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Dear British people,

We will trade you Kevin Sorbo for Tom Hiddleston. It's a good deal.

[–]DocDerry 49 points50 points  (1 child)

Shoot Sorbo into space and keep Tom.

[–]1CocteauTwin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

[–]Beware_the_Voodoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

[–]Ee_sala_cup_namde 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As owen wilson said

Wooooow

[–]LegendaryOutlawStar-Lord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He is a dynamo. I'm already hooked on his story and can't wait to see what's coming in the rest of the series.

[–]rjulia_cs2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He is just so damn charming and talented

[–]BEEF_WIENERS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love that the guy thanks him, so clearly he's done what was needed to satisfy the question, but he's just having so much fun with it that he keeps going. Everything about this guy just screams that he absolutely loves being this character, getting to chew the scenery and be the most interesting, most devious guy in the room. I love it.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a straight man but I question it now everytime I see him.

[–]badgersana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This better be a what if…? Episode
