New York: The last major of the year has reached its final stage. The second week has been quite eventful and there have been some major upsets. The most shocking being the ouster of Andy Murray. Stanislas Wawrinka packed off the defending Champion in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, 6-1 in the quarter finals of the US Open 2013. With Murray's ouster in straight sets, Wawrinka, called the other man from Switzerland, was the star of the day. Defeating Andy Murray in straight sets did not seem an uphill task for Wawrinka, but he now faces Murray's nemesis World Number one Novak Djokovic. The men's semi-finals scheduled for Saturday, will see the mighty Serb and the Swiss clash for a place for Monday's final. While the Serb will look to seal his numero uno position with a win, the Swiss number two, with a win, will try to come out of the shadow of his fellow country mate Roger Federer, to enter the first Major final of his life. Djokovic and Wawrinka have a win-loss of 12-2, with Djokovic winning 7 of the last 8 times they have met. But, Wawrinka is playing the best tennis of his life. His powerful serve and superb one-handed backhand was the key to his win versus Murray. He did not face a single break point, hit 45 winners to 37 unforced errors, in the quarter finals. Wawrinka also cited his confidence as a major reason for the victory. "Normally I can be a little bit nervous and I can lose few games because of that, but today I was just focused on my game. In tennis, as you know, if are not Roger or Rafa and Djokovic or Andy now, you don`t win so many tournaments and you always lose. But you need to take the positive of the loss and you need to go back to work and still playing. Because if when you lost that`s kill you, then it`s tough to play tennis," he was quoted in the post match conference. Djokovic on the other hand, had not dropped a set until his match with Mikhail Youzhny. He was broken twice but he bounced back in the fourth with a bagel to complete a 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-0 victory. If he drops a set with Wawrinka, and drops to the level like he did in the third set versus Youzhny, Wawrinka can definitely take advantage. The stats favour Novak Djokovic to take the match, but then upsets have been part of the tournament since week one (Juan Martin del Potro and Roger Federer). This Swiss is definitely capable of another upset.
