NDP MPs speak against divisive Bloc bill, instead focus on unity with Bill C-470

This video features a short speech from Craig Scott, M.P. during the final hour of debate on the Bloc Quebecois' bill that seeks the repeal of the federal statute informally known (inaccurately) as the Clarity Act. The NDP is against repeal of the Clarity Act if that results in a legal void -- which is the Bloc's intention -- so we have stepped up to the plate with a bill that I presented on behalf of the NDP that would replace the Clarity Act with a bill that addresses some of the Clariity Act's problematic interpretations of the Supreme Court of Canada's judgment in the Quebec Secession Reference. That bill is C-470, An Act respecting Democratic Constitutional Change. In last night's debate, Craig was privileged to speak after several of of colleagues from Quebec (Mathieu Ravignat, Robert Aubin, Nycole Turmel and Francoise Boivin) gave heartfelt speeches about the NDP vision of a united Canada with respect for Quebec's distinctiveness built into that unity.
