Gregory O. Hutchinson (born 1957), known as G. O. Hutchinson, is a British classicist and academic, specialising in Latin literature, Ancient Greek literature, and Latin and Ancient Greek languages. Since October 2015, he has been the Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Oxford, and a Fellow of Christ Church, Oxford.
Hutchinson was born in 1957 in Hackney, London, England. He was educated at the City of London School, an all-boys independent school in the City of London; he had been granted one of the free places funded by the Inner London Education Authority. He studied classics at Balliol College, Oxford, completing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) degree.
In 1984, Hutchinson was elected a Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford. From 1998 to 2015, he was Professor of Greek and Latin Languages and Literature at the University of Oxford. In June 2015, he was announced as the next Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford. He took up the appointment on 1 October 2015 and moved colleges to become a Student (equivalent to a fellow) of Christ Church, Oxford.
Joshua Redman (born February 1, 1969) is an American jazz saxophonist and composer.
In 1991, he won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition.
Redman was born in Berkeley, California, to jazz saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer and librarian Renee Shedroff. He was exposed to many kinds of music at the Center for World Music in Berkeley, where his mother studied South Indian dance. Some of his earliest lessons in music and improvisation were on recorder with gamelan player Jody Diamond. He was exposed at an early age to a variety of music and instruments and began playing clarinet at age nine before switching to what became his primary instrument, the tenor saxophone, one year later. Redman cites John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Cannonball Adderley, his father Dewey Redman, as well as the Beatles, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire, Prince, the Police and Led Zeppelin as musical influences.
He graduated from Berkeley High School, class of 1986, after having been a part of the award-winning Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble for all four years of high school.
Reuben Renwick Rogers (born November 15, 1974) is a Virgin Islands jazz bassist, composer and educator.
Born November 15, 1974, and raised in the Virgin Islands, Rogers was exposed to varieties of music that included calypso, reggae, gospel and jazz. In his formative years, Rogers received encouragement from his parents to explore his musical talent. He began with the clarinet, experimented with the piano, drums and guitar, yet at the age of 14 found his true passion in the bass.
Under the eye of his high school band teacher Georgia Francis, Rogers studied jazz with fellow Virgin Islanders Ron Blake and Dion Parson. Rogers' potential was recognized by numerous awards, grants and scholarships from the St. Thomas Arts Council and other local organizations. This in turn opened the door for Rogers' summer studies at Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan and in Boston at Berklee College of Music. Upon completion of their five-week summer program, Berklee awarded Rogers a scholarship toward his degree studies.

VF Artist Greg Hutchinson performs with the Joshua Redman Quartet at the Berklee College of Music! Joshua Redman - sax Aaron Goldberg - piano Reuben Rogers - bass Greg Hutchinson - drums Ever since his professional debut as a teen-aged sideman for trumpeter Red Rodney, Greg Hutchinson has offered eloquent testimony that youth must have its say. Today he is still a young man, not yet out of his twenties, and still thick with the freshness of invention that was evident from the start. However, his youth is balanced with a maturity gained from valuable associations with the likes of Betty Carter and Joe Henderson. Born June 1970 in Brooklyn, New York, Hutchinson grew up on a rich diet of ´70s soul-which is undoubtedly the source of that homeboy fire he blends into his swing. He was musical...
