[–]Don_Quixote81Librarian 181 points182 points  (1 child)

One hundred percent.

He's really good at playing sweet and innocent, but totally believable as someone who could punch a troll unconscious.

[–]Kreyl 58 points59 points  (2 children)

Oh my god, I had forgotten about him - the sheer, unadulterated Himbo Energy, he's ✨perfect✨

[–]entertaining_fork 78 points79 points  (5 children)

Agree that Hopper is a better choice for Carrot. But Cavill would, in my mind, work great as Victor in Moving Pictures.

[–]RafRafRafRafWords In The Heart Cannot Be Taken 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh GOOD shout.

[–]PlaneswalkerHuxley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Can't sing, can't dance, can handle a sword a little"

[–]thepenguinemperor84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll have to give it a reread to refresh my self on it.

[–]Adampicz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! He has the roc Hudson look.

[–]lavandx 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This is the way

[–]CastleofGaySkull 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Gotta say, I can see that as well!

[–]onlylightlysarcastic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to disagree. I can't.

[–]daekle 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Took me a moment to place where i knew him from. He does have that oversized hunk with a sweet personality thing going.

[–]thepenguinemperor84 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I first ran across him in Black sails, and latest in Umberella academy.

[–]RafRafRafRafWords In The Heart Cannot Be Taken 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I hadn’t even heard of this dude and I’m instantly convinced - if he can play young enough for early doors Carrot, anyhow…

[–]thepenguinemperor84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He definitely passes very similar to the depiction of carrot by Paul Kidby in the art of discworld, his latest role in The Umberella academy is very Carrotequse and he's fantastic in Black sails.

[–]EverythingGoodWas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good call

[–]ladyeclectic79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YAS OMG he’s perfect!

[–]peyote-ugly 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Dickon Tarly (link didnt work, saved you a google)

[–]WrenElsewhere 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Luther Hargreeves would like a word.

[–]corourke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You talking about Jeff?

[–]Christylian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, I didn't know this actor but that's almost to a T how I mentally picture Carrot.

[–]torb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking Yes!

[–]WrenElsewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct

[–]Little_Messiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yea for certain

[–]LaraH39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer!

[–]purplehippobitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg holy hunky yes!!!

[–]TheHighDruid 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Much too old. Carrot is only ~16 during Guards! Guards!

[–]RuralfireAUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love how everyone thought he was a lunatic for volunteering to join the watch

[–]Adampicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally!

[–]BadBassist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I misread that as Tom Hooper... wildly different. Not even an actor

[–]Solabound-the-2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erasing the ginger...

[–]nc0air 111 points112 points  (5 children)

I always thought Brendan Fraser in his George Of The Jungle era would have been perfect for Carrot

[–]Ace_D_Roses 33 points34 points  (2 children)

he would weirdly be a good vimes thou

[–]First_Education7192 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could totally see it from the Mummy Fraiser Era

[–]Asheyguru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mummy Fraser? Waaaay too young for Vimes.

[–]ScottyDug 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He has always been the image in my head too. He can look big and buff but also has those innocent looking wide eyes

[–]calilac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

... I didn't know I needed this until now.

[–]aethelberga 81 points82 points  (6 children)

In my head canon it's always been Paul Gross from Due South, but he's seriously aged out of the part. I've hit an age now that multiple mental casts across several fandoms have aged out more than once.

[–]Don_Quixote81Librarian 47 points48 points  (2 children)

I mean, Paul Gross was effectively playing a more grounded version of Carrot in Due South. Swap Diefenbaker out for Angua and it would have been perfect.

[–]IndigoNarwhal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Swap Diefenbaker out for Angua and it would have been perfect.

I actually did laugh out loud at that, and very nearly spat my coffee.

And now I'm imagining the Due South AU with a werewolf Diefenbaker...

[–]shoutsfrombothsides 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Due Disc

[–]YGINYC 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I now have an overwhelming desire to find where I can re-watch Due South…

[–]IndigoNarwhal 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Looks like a bunch of the episodes are on youtube!

I think I'm due a re-watch as well...

[–]Superb_Ad_7252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Duuuuuueeee uuuuuuu south!

[–]No-Scarcity2379 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Tom Hopper has the same build, but plays the naif that Carrot at least outwardly portrays far better than I've ever seen out of Cavill.

[–]KDurin 65 points66 points  (8 children)

Tom Hopper has been my Carrot for almost a decade, so I can’t shift that now. That being said, I’d happily watch Henry Cavill stand and read a phone book so 🤷‍♀️ He’d make a great Greebo

[–]Hoopylorax 23 points24 points  (6 children)

I don't agree with him as Greebo. He's too pretty. Greebo is scruffier in my head. More dirty-hot? I'm with you on the watching him read the phone book, though!

[–]PornaltioDetritus 31 points32 points  (3 children)

After seeing Cavill in The Witcher I reckon he scruffs up pretty well.

[–]Asheyguru 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Scruffs down?

[–]PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL 4 points5 points  (1 child)

He can scruff strangeness and charm for all I care, that dude can turn people.

[–]sunnyninaEsme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give you gold for this comment. 😂

🥇🪙

[–]thepenguinemperor84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Momoa has the swarthiness of Greebo.

[–]KDurin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He does dirty up well though, and with the eye patch. But maybe I’m just too keen on him 😆

[–]SadHost6497 6 points7 points  (0 children)

YES GREEBO. He'd be so effective.

[–]mrdankhimself_ 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I always picture Wayne from Letterkenny as Carrot, but jolly.

[–]superspud31 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Not as (outwardly) cynical as Wayne.

[–]bachinblack1685 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Wayne could play Adora Belle Dearheart

[–]thepenguinemperor84 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I can actually see it, and it's amazing in my head.

[–]bachinblack1685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Moist, how're ya now?"

[–]captain-carrotDwarf, Captain 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Henry cavill looks nothing like me

[–]aaron_adams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if his hair was dyed orange and cut short (for hygienic reasons)?

[–]Sergeant_Fred_Colon 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Isn't he quite tall for a dwarf?

[–]aaron_adams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, Carrot is about 6'4"

[–]ClaretAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Campaign for Equal Heights would like a word...

[–]ChaoticIndifferent 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I always pictured him as a very buff, younger Thomas Hayden Church. I think he could play a very good big hearted and well meaning, if the tiniest bit dim kind of guy. I always felt Cavill brought the very boring cookie cutter and bereft of a discernible personality type of portrayal Superman demands of an actor, but no more. Maybe he has the range. I don't know. I don't recall seeing him elsewhere.

[–]Thoughtful_Tortoise 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think he could play a very good big hearted and well meaning, if the tiniest bit dim kind of guy.

Not much of a leap if you've seen Wings, is it? And if you haven't seen Wings, then good call, you're very right.

[–]ChaoticIndifferent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps a bit too dim for Carrot, but I'm sure he could scale it back. Isn't the discussion of everyone's unconscious associations of media figures fascinating?

[–]Ptarmigan2 5 points6 points  (7 children)

Alan Ritchson (Reacher)?

[–]klatchianhots 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yup, that's my pick. I wonder if he can do regional UK accents? Carrot doesn't have an American accent in my mind.

[–]QueenSashimi 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I always hear him as Welsh.

[–]Tikabelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, dwarfs have a Scottish accent.

[–]Organic_Chemist9678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, he looks exactly the part

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Thought about him. I just couldn't shake his Blue Mountain State image from my mind😅

[–]Organic_Chemist9678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see him play the role with the same manic fervour

[–]LaraH39 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I'd rather not if you don't mind. He's not a good guy unfortunately.

Pretty sexist, misogynistic... Its why he's not in the witcher any more and during the "me too" movement he said some stupid things.

[–]sunnyninaEsme 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I never bothered reading up on him. Can you provide some links?

Edit: nvm, found it. You're right, not just stupidity and blatantly against understanding what #metoo was saying, but clearly rooted in conventional misogyny. I've always hated when privileged men say what he said, and it's word for word. Shows both what he was reading at the time and that he just didn't want to hear #metoo, let alone think critically about it.

Now I'm sad/angry/disappointed. Is there one word for that feeling? There should be, imo.

[–]LaraH39 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Now I'm sad/angry/disappointed. Is there one word for that feeling? There should be, imo.

I use the word "gutted".

His behaviour on the Witcher too is just outrageous. It's SO disappointing and I'm confused as to why it's not more talked about regarding him.

[–]sunnyninaEsme 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How much of it is hearsay vs public?

[–]LaraH39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose you could say it's all hearsay from the set of the Witcher.

But... Its a LOT of people from set. And when someone says something on the record that's clearly misogynistic (me too comment) that's not going to be a one off random thought.

It seems it wasn't just his misogyny and the issues he had with Lauren S. Hissrich where he openly talked about not liking what she was doing with series, you can Google those gems from him. But also the fact that he has/had an addiction to the game making him unreliable on set!

[–]LothorBrune 44 points45 points  (5 children)

A young guy who can act would be preferable, in my opinion.

[–]folkkingdude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Are you saying Cavill can’t act? Hot take guy

[–]greenswizzlewooster 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Yeah, Cavil's too old.

[–]Point-Express 10 points11 points  (1 child)

They did say “a young Henry Cavill”

[–]Martissimus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think young Henry Cavill is accepting roles right now

[–]aaron_adams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you don't think highly of Cavills acting ability, you're entitled to your opinion, but I thought he did a great job in The Witcher.

[–]RafRafRafRafWords In The Heart Cannot Be Taken 18 points19 points  (6 children)

He’s suitably pretty, sure, but he’s 20 years too old and too slim built, to boot.

[–]ScionOfLucifer 17 points18 points  (4 children)

That's the first time I've heard Cavill be described as slim-built

[–]RafRafRafRafWords In The Heart Cannot Be Taken 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Slimmer, I guess.

He’s not Carrot shaped, for want of a better expression!

[–]Tikabelle 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You probably haven't seen him in "White Collar", right? Very young, and very slim. I was really surprised seeing him as Geralt.

[–]srb846 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Are you perhaps confusing Matt Bomer and Henry Cavill? They do look very similar!

[–]Tikabelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damen, you're right. Now that makes so much more sense! I wonder how I got that wrong... I was sure I looked that up. Whatever. Thanks for getting my head right.

[–]TheHighDruid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More like 25 years too old; Carrot in Guards! Guards is ~16

[–]Bruscarbad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

HOW MANY TIMES MUST WE SAY NO

[–]Appropriate_Mine 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I always imagined him as a more muscular Ritchie Cunningham

[–]SmashBrosUnite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and English

[–]nabnabking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he would be but he's a little old now. Slightly more age appropriate would he Connor Swindells from sex education. I think he has the same naive demeanor as I associate with carrot.

[–]_StruggleOnStruggler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No…

[–]MtnNerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Cavill, but I've always pictured Carrot as a bigger guy with red hair.

[–]Echo-Azure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Henry Cavill admits to being forty years old, and Carrot is very young when he arrives in Ankh-Morpork.

Twenty years ago, I would have agreed with the casting.

[–]vincentofearth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way too old and famous now

[–]NT-W 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Isn't he meant to be like, 20 or something?

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yeah, that's why I wrote "a young Henry"😊

[–]NT-W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, don't always see the descriptions on pictures

Oops

[–]No-Scarcity2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Young Henry wasn't a particular ripped giant like he is now. He was actually almost weedy in The Count of Monte Cristo.

[–]TheHighDruid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the later books, yes.

[–]usedtobeathrowaway94 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Can we not have him infiltrate every fandom. I know I'm being negative here just wile tired of the odd parasocial relationships the Warhammer subs have fostered

[–]QueenSashimi 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Tbf I'm nothing to do with Warhammer and would quite happily have him infiltrate my fandom

[–]usedtobeathrowaway94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahahahahaha ok that got a chuckle from me well played

[–]jflb96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not every day that an objectively hot celebrity openly admits that he enjoys your nerdy hobby of painting li'l guys to do simulated brutal murder. I can see why he's popular.

[–]elgarraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alexander Ludwig would be a really good fit. I don't think Cavill is the right age, and he comes off a little too worldly for Carrot

[–]lettiestohelit 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Id rather Matt bomer, he can actually act and seems princely

[–]bartleby1407 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've loved Matt Bomer since Chuvk. But he is too old to play Carrot

[–]hsentar 8 points9 points  (5 children)

YES! Man of steel Cavill would be perfect.

[–]ItsNotMeItsYourBussy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus he's probably a fan of the series already, the lovable nerd he is

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Right? He brings the height, the muscles, the smile, the perfect enunciation, and charisma to the table.

[–]aaron_adams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't you mean krisma? And bags of it?

[–]hsentar 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The body, etc. is all well and good. What's better is that he brings a certain Carrot calmness that other actors wouldn't have.

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree!

[–]QueenSashimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think Connor Swindells would be a great Carrot.

[–]These-Ice-1035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too old. The problem is that the books and characters emerged over a good two decades.

In Guards! Guards! When Carrot first appears he is barely sixteen years old. Is an actor were playing him, maybe a 20 years old could do that. But whilst I love Henry, at 40 playing someone more than half his age might be a stretch. At least for those earlier books.

[–]aaron_adams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think he has the build for it, so if his hair was cut short and dyed, I think he could pull it off. Personally, tho, I think he'd make a better Vimes, with the quiet brooding character archetype.

[–]AppropriateTouchingBill Door - GNU Terry Pratchett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conan O'Brien

[–]Adampicz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has that jaw but I can’t see him with that wide eyed innocence that would be a death sentence for anyone else in AM. What about Allan Tudyk? He might be a little old for young carrot but he could pull it off.

<image>

[–]elphinstone 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I see John Cena as carrot

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

No, you can't see him.

[–]elphinstone 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Maybe he's moist von lipwig?

[–]DJTilapia 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Nah, Moist’s defining physical characteristic is being ordinary to the point of being entirely forgettable. He should be played by... shoot. That guy... he was in that thing...

[–]aaron_adams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that guy, from the thing. What was his name? Like, he's not tall or short, and he's not memorable, but I know who he is. Shoot, I can't remember him either.

[–]stealthdonkey007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a young Cena would work great

[–]TsundokuAfficionado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has some Me Too stuff, so it’s a No from me.

[–]thebaddads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Henry cavill had the acting chops of a block of wood.

[–]Meloenbolletjeslepel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry with red hair though?

[–]OletheNorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see him more as Drumknott - since Michael Caine is getting a bit too old

[–]ConfusedStageLeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without ever having considered this I feel like it was always his face in my minds eye if that makes sense.

[–]trashed_culture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This picture (with red hair of course) is exactly what I picture when I think of Carrot.

Acting wise I just don't know. I'm used to Cavill playing very serious gruff types.

[–]Fireyjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of Cavill as Carrot but I would insist they do some movie makeup thing to make his hair red. (It’s just how I always pictured carrot)

[–]uberdaveyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jared Keeso if he could lose the accent.

[–]BruteGunray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking who would be the perfect Carrot and then saw this news article: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/game-of-thrones-hedge-knight-dunk-and-egg-cast-1235867446/

Never heard of Peter Claffey before in my life, but looks-wise he seems perfect. I'm curious to see him in a show or a movie now.

[–]why_no_username_guys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I haven't read any of these books yet but I joined the sub so it would remind me to cause I really want to.

But I was Hella confused about how Henry cavil was a carrot in this picture, I tried looking for other picks and everything.

[–]NyancatOpalVimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Carrot must be red haired. sorry.

[–]fluffykerfuffle3ookity ook ook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

: /

it seems many of you think of big body when you think of Carrot but Carrot is more about his ethics, innocence and youth..

i think Carrot would probably be best served by an 'unknown' actor.

[–]VasM85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too old now. Carrot is supposed to be young fresh-faced guy. Cavill is 41.

[–]sincarok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant disagree

[–]Extension_Phase_1117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry Cavill is so freaking hot. Omfg.

[–]Abraxas_1408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely

[–]FrisianDudethere is a house in Ankh-Morpork they call the Mended Drum 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Dont yall get tired of this boring crap

[–]fluffykerfuffle3ookity ook ook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hehehe

[–]The_Second_Judge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would be perfect as Nobby Nobbs!

[–]wdcipherLuggage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ashamed I didnt come up with this myself. Hes perfect.

[–]VixenIcaza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you gonna have him look Ginger? Shape is right yes, but so is Malmoa. Neither of which are gonna be Carrot coloured.

[–]CastleofGaySkull -5 points-4 points  (20 children)

I know I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this but Henry Cavill is a misogynist jerkwad. It would break my heart if someone like that played the lovely (non-sexist) Carrot!

[–]Bored_Breadless 7 points8 points  (17 children)

He’s not is he? Why can no one be half decent for Christ’s sake

[–]Astwook 14 points15 points  (12 children)

He's actually not from everything I've seen.

The writers on the Witcher said he didn't value women as writers because he said people were "here for Andrej Sapkowski's writing, not yours". (Meaning the writers who kept trying to improve the stories by adding really weird changes that didn't make sense.)

And like, yeah. This is exactly why I like the books about the watch, and not the series "The Watch". I'm here for PTerry.

Now, if he turns out to be a horrendous misogynist, that's egg on my face and I'll be very sad about that, but I also think a lot of it seems to be that he plays a lot of WoW and Warhammer. And "everyone knows oldschool nerds hate women".

[–]_StruggleOnStruggler 7 points8 points  (9 children)

His metoo comments were super weird and tone deft, plus dating a 19 year old at 33 was pretty gross, the power dynamics there are definitely questionable, given his fame and money. Whether or not that makes him a misogynist isnt for me to say as I don’t know him or really care about him. Just know that there’s definitely reason to suspect that he is one

[–]Astwook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's very grim

[–]Ask_Me_What_Im_Up_to -4 points-3 points  (7 children)

Telling 19 year old women they aren't capable of making their own decisions seems a bit misogynistic.

[–]Astwook 4 points5 points  (5 children)

No, ignoring power imbalances smacks of having no understanding of things like safeguarding or coercive control. Dude's a movie star and you're 19? Doesn't matter if you're male or female, your personality is going to shrink in the face of that.

[–]Ask_Me_What_Im_Up_to -5 points-4 points  (3 children)

Have you stopped beating your wife?

I don't necessarily disagree, however, I admit to my position on it being infantalising, and, broadly, consistent with my other views. Can you, or the person I replied to, say the same? How does one quantify all these issues, how does one weigh them up? Is the loud person in a couple inherently being abusive? What if they're more intelligent, wittier, earn more money, have more friends?

Policing peoples' relationships is an incredibly dangerous thing to do, and labelling someone an -ist because of it? Come off it.

"There's a reson to suspect that he is [a misogynist]" is just such a dangerous way of looking at the world. If you don't understand why, then, okay, there's nothing else to say, and I hope you don't get caught out by a mob with your own views at any point.

[–]_StruggleOnStruggler 2 points3 points  (1 child)

you’re making arguments up in your head that nobody’s made and I think you should take some time away from the internet. Nobody said he’s an abuser, I never even said he’s a misogynist, he does show the tendencies of someone who holds misogynistic views and I’m not gonna watch his movies, that’s as far as it goes

[–]Ask_Me_What_Im_Up_to -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'll be blunt, I'm not in the best of moods so I'll just leave you to it. Enjoy your weekend.

[–]Astwook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a former youth worker, when I use phrases like "Safeguarding" and "Coercive Control", I am not on Tumblr with the Onceler, making up language as I go. I have got years of study, government backed courses, and real in-the-field experience that backs me up when I say: actually yes, that is actually a concern. Nonetheless, as a 19 year old, it's her autonomy. I'm free to say yikes and be glad they broke up, she's free to date 33 year olds of that's her type. No judgement against that, but it IS dangerous.

He's close to TWICE her age, and he's the source of all the money. Is it less scummy than DiCaprio? Yes. Did he break up with her pretty quickly? Also yes, but it's not a good look.

Now, I didn't say he was a misogynist, I actually pushed back against that. Also, don't make jokes about beating my wife. You have no f****** clue what I've seen, nor how much I love and treasure her.

Sort your life out and go have a good day instead of making your and other people's lives worse on the internet.

[–]_StruggleOnStruggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I explained why it’s bad in my original comment. The power dynamic is too one sided. Age, money, fame, power, that opens up the possibility for the person on the opposite end to be controlled. Absolutely nothing wrong with the women and everything wrong with the man. Why do you want to be with someone you have that much control of? Again, this is not an accusation at cavill, I’m merely pointing out that there’s reason to think that he might hold some unsavoury views given the frankly more pressing issue that while everyone was talking about all these powerful, predatory men being animals, he felt the need to pipe up about how his dating games going to be affected by it. That’s the bigger issue here and it’s why I do not like Cavill

Cautious optimism it is then

Yeah...

After reading this stuff I decided I wasn’t a fan. But, I acknowledge that it’s not a big deal to most people, and I don’t think fans of his are bad people.

[–]Ask_Me_What_Im_Up_to 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That second link is preposterous in the extreme.

[–]Bored_Breadless -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Its not ideal obviously but as far as celebrities go it could be far far worse

Has soured me on him somewhat, but I don’t watch the superman movies so it’s not really going to impact me

[–]notalapcataboobcat 6 points7 points  (1 child)

He gives me the ick ever since the comment referred to in the Guardian article about not being able to approach a woman in case he is accused of being a rapist.

It's not that big of a comment standalone but it's the implications of what it means.

It screams 'women are liars', 'women are hysterical' (but not haha hysterical), 'women are not rational'.

It also begs the question, what in earth are you saying when you approach women that has you worried they are going to accuse you of misconduct?

It was beyond tone deaf and straight into 'the ick' territory for me.

[–]CastleofGaySkull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was exactly my feeling.

[–]Ptarmigan2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matthew MacFayden as Vimes and Nicholas Braun as Carrot.

[–]Thr0w-a-gay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every movie has to have a marvel movie cast, like

[–]chatondedanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am all for anything Henry Cavil

[–]kobie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry Cavill would probably not sigh on for a discworld production

[–]Dramatic-Soup-445 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I would never have believed it otherwise but accompanied by this pic? Yes. Oh yes. But who would be the perfect Angua ?

[–]TheReaderDude_97[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Right? Younger Henry would have been great. I have to think who would suit as Angua, though.

[–]QueenSashimi 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Anya Taylor Joy?

[–]Dramatic-Soup-445 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Opposite him she could pull it off i think, anyone else I'm not so sure

[–]QueenSashimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. I think they'd make a good match in that regard.

[–]Environmental-Bit383[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody can beat Joe Dempsie as Carrot for me. Just as nobody can beat Stephen Dillane as Vimes but that's another matter.

Still, Cavill is a good choice.

For me its gotta be the guy from fantastic Beasts just with more muscle

[–]SokkaHaikuBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sokka-Haiku by Existing-Ostrich7218:

For me its gotta

Be the guy from fantastic

Beasts just with more muscle

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

[–]twodogsfighting -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Henry Cavil s born to play Carrot. He's the right shape and everything.

[–]Ptarmigan2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Joseph Baena Schwarzenneger - looks the part and some life parallels with Carrot - not sure about acting chops but he could woodenly quote The Laws and Ordinances of the Cities Ankh and Morpork.

[–]onlylightlysarcastic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sam Heughan would also fit.

[–]Illusivegecko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Has a single person ever watched "The Watch"? I was too afraid to

[–]BadNewsBaguette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ben Carpenter the fitness influencer as Carrot maybe? He could be a terrible actor but he has that lovely innocence.

[–]TomCrean1916 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As a carrot in my bedroom ya mean.

In me now captain!

He’s so perfect
