My ex husband was from The States. The first time he tried salad cream here it blew his mind, he couldn’t get enough of the stuff, put it on everything. That and mango chutney (which he insisted on calling “chitney” 😆)!
Ah was this The Cat and Cauldron ? On Magdalene Street ? I loved that place. It’s gone now.
The things you overhear in Glastonbury are fantastic. There’s a whole fb page called “normal for Glastonbury “ it’s too funny

I think the it was Miners strike, around 83 maybe. I remember my family all being firmly onside with the Miners

Agreed. I just finished the new audiobook with Matt Baynton and it’s currently my favourite of all the audiobooks.

Haven’t got around to The Witches ones yet, but The Truth with Matt Baynton is absolutely fantastic. The Witches are next on the list, looking forward to them.
I don’t know about now, but when I was homeless some 25 years ago, there were day centres in most cities where you could get a shower, have a hot meal etc either free or for a quid or less. Some of the better ones washers/dryers for a very small fee and some also had clothes banks where you could pick up fresh bits that had been donated.
St Petrocs in Exeter had all the above, if memory serves and even had a nurse on site at times.
I’m sure things have changed somewhat now, but I’d hope places like this are still around. If I couldn’t get to a day centre as described, or there wasn’t one, I’d strip wash in McDonalds disabled loos. Lots of churches would have clothes banks for the homeless, and the Sally Army of course.
