The Serapeum is a truly fascinating site. Located at Saqqara, Egypt, it’s a short drive from Cairo and the Pyramids at Giza.

The Serapeum is a unique underground complex of passages with recessed depressed alcoves, most of which house giant, precision-carved boxes made from Syenite (with porphyritic diorite) and Rose (or Red) granite. These single-piece boxes weigh anywhere from 50 to some at over 100 metric tons. Their lids are similarly massive.
These boxes and the cavern system contain stunningly clear signs of ancient high technology in their construction. The site itself shows evidence of renovation work and re-use during the dynastic egyptian period, even though this contradicts the othodox story that the site was created in this period. How does one construct a site from scratch and renovate it at the same time?
The story of the site and the objects, as determined by the 'hieroglyphic graffiti' on the boxes, interpreted by academic egyptology, ignores this clear evidence. It's like explaining how your family refrigerator works based solely on your kid's kindergarden painting stuck to the front of it with a magnet.
If you open your mind to the possibility of global cataclysm and the corresponding possibility that human-kinds' story on this planet is likely much longer than the orthodox suggests, then the Serapeum transforms from a nonsensical, ceremonial bull funeral hall and becomes a truly fascinating piece of the puzzle that is our distant, functional, megalithic past.

The Serapium: The Serapeum is the term most often used to refer to the burial place of the sacred Apis bulls at Saqqara. It consisted of a huge underground complex to the north-west of the Step Pyramid of Djoser where the bulls were buried in enormous granite sarcophagi between the 18th Dynasty and Ptolemaic times.
The sacred bulls were buried in a single block of granite that weighed between sixty and eighty tons. All twenty-four sarcophagi had been plundered. Their lids had been praised loose and the contents taken. Further excavation revealed an older gallery and then another one further on. The way into the first of the galleries was blocked by a huge rock which was blown apart with explosives. Beneath where the rock had been, was found a mummy of a man. This was the mummy of a son of Ramasses II, Prince Khaemwese. He was in charge of the restoration of the Pyramid of Unas. He was also governor of Memphis and a high priest of Ptah. He had requested to be buried with the sacred bulls rather than a tomb of his own.
The mastabas at Saqqara display some interesting features. Three of the tombs had an associated mud-brick boat burial on their north side and some of the mastabas also had raised platforms which ran around them. The heads were modelled out of mud but the horns were real, and it has been estimated that a tomb might have been surrounded by up to three hundred of them. Throughout Egyptian history the bull was closely associated with kinship. The pharaoh was referred to as 'Mighty Bull'

This is the Step Pyramid Complex in Saqqara in Egypt. It was designed by Imhotep in the third dynasty of Egypt for King Netjeriket (Pharaoh Zozer). It is also known as the Djoser Pyramid or the first pyramid. It is composed of solid Limestone Blocks and as a result, it is in better condition than the 12th dynasty pyramids that were made largely of unfired mudbricks with only a limestone veneer. The buildings are the first know structures to utilize columns in their architecture.
The pyramid is part of a complex which contains several interconnected man made pits in the ground, an open courtyard and a number of buildings which were part of a continuous wall that surrounded the compound. The entrance to the complex is through the main buildings.
These square and rectangular pits in the ground are likely to have been used to store grain and retrieve it. One of the pits has stairs and connects to the bottom of the main pit which abuts the courtyard on the side opposite the Step Pyramid within the walls of the complex.
The pyramids at Dashur and Giza can be seen from the Step Pyramid (and visa versa). The pyramids would have been useful for navigation and finding the complex even if this was not he main reason that they were built.
The pyramids became the tombs of the Pharaohs. Previously, they used Mastabas as tombs. Pharaoh Zozer was buried under the Step Pyramid. The burial chambers may have been added after the pyramid had been built.
Many archaelologists and historian have long noted the similarities between Jospeh of the Bible and Imhotep of the third dynasty and it has been suggested that they may have been the same person. The difficult with this theory is that the Egyptian dates do not match the Bibles dates. Recent evidence, however, suggests that the traditional Egyptian dates (which were based on Manetho) may be out by as much as a thousand years (Ref Archaelogist David Down) giving the claim more credence.

Saqqara (Arabic: سقارة, Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [sɑʔˈʔɑːɾɑ]), also spelled Sakkara or Saccara in English /səˈkɑːrə/, is a vast, ancient burial ground in Egypt, serving as the necropolis for the Ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis. Saqqara features numerous pyramids, including the world famous Step pyramid of Djoser, sometimes referred to as the Step Tomb due to its rectangular base, as well as a number of mastabas (Arabic word meaning 'bench'). Located some 30 km (19 mi) south of modern-day Cairo, Saqqara covers an area of around 7 by 1.5 km (4.35 by 0.93 mi).
At Saqqara, the oldest complete stone building complex known in history was built: Djoser's step pyramid, built during the Third Dynasty. Another 16 Egyptian kings built pyramids at Saqqara, which are now in various states of preservation or dilapidation. High officials added private funeral monuments to this necropolis during the entire pharaonic period. It remained an important complex for non-royal burials and cult ceremonies for more than 3,000 years, well into Ptolemaic and Roman times.

Step pyramid
A step pyramid or stepped pyramid is an architectural structure that uses flat platforms, or steps, receding from the ground up, to achieve a completed shape similar to a geometric pyramid. Step pyramids are structures which characterized several cultures throughout history, in several locations throughout the world. These pyramids typically are large and made of several layers of stone. The term refers to pyramids of similar design that emerged separately from one another, as there are no firmly established connections between the different civilizations that built them.

John Anthony West (born 1932 in New York) is an American author, lecturer, guide and a proponent of Sphinx water erosion hypothesis in geology.
Influenced by R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz, in 1993 his work with Robert M. Schoch, a geologist and associate professor of natural science at the College of General Studies at Boston University was presented by Charlton Heston in a NBC special called “The Mystery of the Sphinx” that won West a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Best Research and a nomination for Best Documentary. The documentary contends that the main type of weathering evident on the Great Sphinx and surrounding enclosure walls could only have been caused by prolonged and extensive rainfall during the time period from 10,000 to 5000 BCE and was carved out of limestone bedrock by an ancient advanced culture (such as the Heavy Neolithic Qaraoun culture). This challenged the conventional dating of the carving of the statue circa 2500 BCE. West suggested that the Sphinx may be over twice as old as originally determined, whereas Schoch made a more conservative determination of between 5000 and 7000 BCE.

The Serapeum of Saqqara's Strange Heiroglyphics
The Serapium: The Serapeum is the term most often used to refer to the burial place of the sacred Apis bulls at Saqqara. It consisted of a huge underground complex to the north-west of the Step Pyramid of Djoser where the bulls were buried in enormous granite sarcophagi between the 18th Dynasty and Ptolemaic times. The sacred bulls were buried in a single block of granite that weighed between sixty and eighty tons. All twenty-four sarcophagi had been plundered. Their lids had been praised loose and the contents taken. Further excavation revealed an older gallery and then another one further on. This is the Step Pyramid Complex in Saqqara in Egypt. It was designed by Imhotep in the third dynasty of Egypt for King Netjeriket (Pharaoh Zozer). It is also known as the Djoser Pyramid or the first pyramid. It is composed of solid Limestone Blocks and as a result, it is in better condition than the 12th dynasty pyramids that were made largely of unfired mudbricks with only a limestone veneer. The buildings are the first know structures to utilize columns in their architecture. The pyramid is part of a complex which contains several interconnected man made pits in the ground, an open courtyard and a number of buildings which were part of a continuous wall that surrounded the compound. The Serapeum is a truly fascinating site. Located at Saqqara, Egypt, it’s a short drive from Cairo and the Pyramids at Giza.

The Serapeum is a unique underground complex of passages with recessed depressed alcoves, most of which house giant, precision-carved boxes made from Syenite (with porphyritic diorite) and Rose (or Red) granite. These single-piece boxes weigh anywhere from 50 to some at over 100 metric tons. Their lids are similarly massive.
These boxes and the cavern system contain stunningly clear signs of ancient high technology in their construction. The site itself shows evidence of renovation work and re-use during the dynastic egyptian period, even though this contradicts the othodox story that the site was created in this period. How does one construct a site from scratch and renovate it at the same time?
The story of the site and the objects, as determined by the 'hieroglyphic graffiti' on the boxes, interpreted by academic egyptology, ignores this clear evidence. It's like explaining how your family refrigerator works based solely on your kid's kindergarden painting stuck to the front of it with a magnet.
If you open your mind to the possibility of global cataclysm and the corresponding possibility that human-kinds' story on this planet is likely much longer than the orthodox suggests, then the Serapeum transforms from a nonsensical, ceremonial bull funeral hall and becomes a truly fascinating piece of the puzzle that is our distant, functional, megalithic past.

The sacred bulls were buried in a single block of granite that weighed between sixty and eighty tons. All twenty-four sarcophagi had been plundered. Their lids had been praised loose and the contents taken. Further excavation revealed an older gallery and then another one further on. The way into the first of the galleries was blocked by a huge rock which was blown apart with explosives. Beneath where the rock had been, was found a mummy of a man. This was the mummy of a son of Ramasses II, Prince Khaemwese. He was in charge of the restoration of the Pyramid of Unas. He was also governor of Memphis and a high priest of Ptah. He had requested to be buried with the sacred bulls rather than a tomb of his own.
The mastabas at Saqqara display some interesting features. Three of the tombs had an associated mud-brick boat burial on their north side and some of the mastabas also had raised platforms which ran around them. The heads were modelled out of mud but the horns were real, and it has been estimated that a tomb might have been surrounded by up to three hundred of them. Throughout Egyptian history the bull was closely associated with kinship. The pharaoh was referred to as 'Mighty Bull'

The pyramids became the tombs of the Pharaohs. Previously, they used Mastabas as tombs. Pharaoh Zozer was buried under the Step Pyramid. The burial chambers may have been added after the pyramid had been built.
Many archaelologists and historian have long noted the similarities between Jospeh of the Bible and Imhotep of the third dynasty and it has been suggested that they may have been the same person. The difficult with this theory is that the Egyptian dates do not match the Bibles dates. Recent evidence, however, suggests that the traditional Egyptian dates (which were based on Manetho) may be out by as much as a thousand years (Ref Archaelogist David Down) giving the claim more credence.

Around 2900 B.C., when Upper and Lower Egypt became one Great Empire, the Pharaohs declared Memphis, which lies in the southern Nile Delta, as their capital city.During its golden years in the second millennium B.C., Memphis extended 15 km, from Gizeh to Sakkara. Up until the time of the Roman Empire, this ancient city’s former buildings had been constructed from air-dried bricks and therefore, due to this process, sadly did not survive the years. Granite and limestone were used solely for its Temples, Palaces And Statues. The frightening and dismissive gesture of the Sphinx was meant to frighten away grave robbers and guard the Necropolis, the place of the dead. Its lion’s body and human head symbolize courage and mental prowess. Apart from Gizeh, Sakkara, in Lower Egypt, was an important city dedicated to the dead. The mother of all pyramids lies here, Pharaoh Djoser's Step Pyramid, which dates back to the year 2600 B.C. For almost 5000 years these stones have survived the forces of nature and who knows what future excavations may reveal from the sands of the Egyptian desert, sands that are not only of time but which held the hopes of the pharaohs and created among the richest treasures known to mankind.

The Serapeum of Saqqara's Strange Heiroglyphics
The Serapium: The Serapeum is the term most often used to refer to the burial place of the sacred Apis bulls at Saqqara. It consisted of a huge underground complex to the north-west of the Step Pyramid of Djoser where the bulls were buried in enormous granite sarcophagi between the 18th Dynasty and Ptolemaic times. The sacred bulls were buried in a single block of granite that weighed between sixty and eighty tons. All twenty-four sarcophagi had been plundered. Their lids had been praised loose and the contents taken. Further excavation revealed an older gallery and then another one further on. This is the Step Pyramid Complex in Saqqara in Egypt. It was designed by Imhotep in the third dynasty of Egypt for King Netjeriket (Pharaoh Zozer). It is also known as the Djoser Pyramid or the first pyramid. It is composed of solid Limestone Blocks and as a result, it is in better condition than the 12th dynasty pyramids that were made largely of unfired mudbricks with only a limestone veneer. The buildings are the first know structures to utilize columns in their architecture. The pyramid is part of a complex which contains several interconnected man made pits in the ground, an open courtyard and a number of buildings which were part of a continuous wall that surrounded the compound. The Serapeum is a truly fascinating site. Located at Saqqara, Egypt, it’s a short drive from Cairo and the Pyramids at Giza.
We visited the site (again) in mid-2016, and filmed our visit with guide Yousef Aywan. Please check out our full article and images to go with this video on our site http://pukajay.com
The Serapeum is a unique underground complex of passages with recessed depressed alcoves, most of which house giant, precision-carved boxes made from Syenite (with porphyritic diorite) and Rose (or Red) granite. These single-piece boxes weigh anywhere from 50 to some at over 100 metric tons. Their lids are similarly massive.
These boxes and the cavern system contain stunningly clear signs of ancient high technology in their construction. The site itself shows evidence of renovation work and re-use during the dynastic egyptian period, even though this contradicts the othodox story that the site was created in this period. How does one construct a site from scratch and renovate it at the same time?
The story of the site and the objects, as determined by the 'hieroglyphic graffiti' on the boxes, interpreted by academic egyptology, ignores this clear evidence. It's like explaining how your family refrigerator works based solely on your kid's kindergarden painting stuck to the front of it with a magnet.
If you open your mind to the possibility of global cataclysm and the corresponding possibility that human-kinds' story on this planet is likely much longer than the orthodox suggests, then the Serapeum transforms from a nonsensical, ceremonial bull funeral hall and becomes a truly fascinating piece of the puzzle that is our distant, functional, megalithic past.

The Serapium: The Serapeum is the term most often used to refer to the burial place of the sacred Apis bulls at Saqqara. It consisted of a huge underground complex to the north-west of the Step Pyramid of Djoser where the bulls were buried in enormous granite sarcophagi between the 18th Dynasty and Ptolemaic times.
The sacred bulls were buried in a single block of granite that weighed between sixty and eighty tons. All twenty-four sarcophagi had been plundered. Their lids had been praised loose and the contents taken. Further excavation revealed an older gallery and then another one further on. The way into the first of the galleries was blocked by a huge rock which was blown apart with explosives. Beneath where the rock had been, was found a mummy of a man. This was the mummy of a son of Ramasses II, Prince Khaemwese. He was in charge of the restoration of the Pyramid of Unas. He was also governor of Memphis and a high priest of Ptah. He had requested to be buried with the sacred bulls rather than a tomb of his own.
The mastabas at Saqqara display some interesting features. Three of the tombs had an associated mud-brick boat burial on their north side and some of the mastabas also had raised platforms which ran around them. The heads were modelled out of mud but the horns were real, and it has been estimated that a tomb might have been surrounded by up to three hundred of them. Throughout Egyptian history the bull was closely associated with kinship. The pharaoh was referred to as 'Mighty Bull'

This is the Step Pyramid Complex in Saqqara in Egypt. It was designed by Imhotep in the third dynasty of Egypt for King Netjeriket (Pharaoh Zozer). It is also known as the Djoser Pyramid or the first pyramid. It is composed of solid Limestone Blocks and as a result, it is in better condition than the 12th dynasty pyramids that were made largely of unfired mudbricks with only a limestone veneer. The buildings are the first know structures to utilize columns in their architecture.
The pyramid is part of a complex which contains several interconnected man made pits in the ground, an open courtyard and a number of buildings which were part of a continuous wall that surrounded the compound. The entrance to the complex is through the main buildings.
These square and rectangular pits in the ground are likely to have been used to store grain and retrieve it. One of the pits has stairs and connects to the bottom of the main pit which abuts the courtyard on the side opposite the Step Pyramid within the walls of the complex.
The pyramids at Dashur and Giza can be seen from the Step Pyramid (and visa versa). The pyramids would have been useful for navigation and finding the complex even if this was not he main reason that they were built.
The pyramids became the tombs of the Pharaohs. Previously, they used Mastabas as tombs. Pharaoh Zozer was buried under the Step Pyramid. The burial chambers may have been added after the pyramid had been built.
Many archaelologists and historian have long noted the similarities between Jospeh of the Bible and Imhotep of the third dynasty and it has been suggested that they may have been the same person. The difficult with this theory is that the Egyptian dates do not match the Bibles dates. Recent evidence, however, suggests that the traditional Egyptian dates (which were based on Manetho) may be out by as much as a thousand years (Ref Archaelogist David Down) giving the claim more credence.

Serapeum Full Movie
The full movie of my trip to the mysterious location known as the Serapeum. The mysterious stone boxes here are amazing to see and touch. Each weighs somewhere between 75-100 tons depending. How were they moved? How were they cut? What were they used for? The traditional story doesn't seem to hold water once you scrutinize that these boxes were used for burials of symbolic bulls.

Pharaoh Djoser has ascended the throne and his Royal Vizier, Imhotep, has conceived a brand new tomb to house the Pharaoh and it will be build at Saqqara. The mission is not difficult because the Stepped Pyramind you are required to build only requires Plain Stone which can be quarried locally. You'll need to raise quite a bit of cash to import the commodities you will need to build your city so the first priority would be to build Gold Mines up at the top of the map. Be careful: the mission has a scripted event that destroys a random Gold Mine each year. It can get very annoying having to keep replacing Gold Mines but it's a good source of income! You can also import clay, barley, reeds, flax and gems to export pottery, beer, papyrus, linen and luxury goods which will net a tidy profit. ...

How were they moved?
How were they cut?
What were they used for?
The traditional story doesn't seem to hold water once you scrutinize that these boxes were used for burials of symbolic bulls.

Pharaoh Djoser has ascended the throne and his Royal Vizier, Imhotep, has conceived a brand new tomb to house the Pharaoh and it will be build at Saqqara.
The mission is not difficult because the Stepped Pyramind you are required to build only requires Plain Stone which can be quarried locally. You'll need to raise quite a bit of cash to import the commodities you will need to build your city so the first priority would be to build Gold Mines up at the top of the map. Be careful: the mission has a scripted event that destroys a random Gold Mine each year. It can get very annoying having to keep replacing Gold Mines but it's a good source of income! You can also import clay, barley, reeds, flax and gems to export pottery, beer, papyrus, linen and luxury goods which will net a tidy profit. Never forget taxes!
There is a scripting glitch with this mission. About 1-2 years into the mission, Selima Oasis will grant you a gift of 1100 pomegranates. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO IGNORE THIS GIFT! If you refuse this gift, your supply of Wood is cut off forever and the mission is unplayable as Selima is the ONLY city in this mission that sells you wood and it is both a requirement of the Pyramid and as a Burial Good! Even if you have no need for the Pomegranates, do not ignore the gift request or it will lead to mission failure.
Get the city going and make sure you build a small community for hunting as requests for Game Meat will come early on as well. Plain Stone will be randomly requested by Men-nefer so make sure to have a stock of this commodity as well.
When you are ready to build the monument, place the footprint down. You need Work Camps to build any monument, so place about 2-3 of them down (by this point you should have a large amount of unemployment) as well as 2 Stonemason Guild's and a Carpenter's Guild. The Carpenter's Guild requires wood to function so the trade route for Selima should be open and importing wood to a cut off storage yard set to only accept wood.
As Luxury Goods are available in this mission as well as Mortuaries, you'll be able to evolve housing up to Spacious Manor. Don't evolve too many housing to this level or you'll have too high labour shortages. Spacious Manor level housing should get rid of the unemployment issue but if it doesn't, build more Potters/Breweries/Papyrus Makers/Weavers/Jewelers to create a good supply of goods for export. It should soak up some unemployment issues.
It should take you no time at all to reach the meager requirements for this mission and you'll have built your first pyramid!
