Plot: Action/war drama based on the best-selling book detailing a near-disastrous mission in Somalia on October 3, 1993. On this date nearly 100 U.S. Army Rangers, commanded by Capt. Mike Steele, were dropped by helicopter deep into the capital city of Mogadishu to capture two top lieutenants of a Somali warlord. This lead to a large and drawn-out firefight between the Rangers and hundreds of Somali gunmen, leading to the destruction of two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters. This film focuses on the heroic efforts of various Rangers to get to the downed black hawks, centering on Sgt. Eversmann, leading the Ranger unit Chalk Four to the first black hawk crash site, Warrant Officer Durant who was captured after being the only survivor of the second black hawk crash, as well as many others who were involved.

Quotes:
[after Nelson, Twombly, and Yurek grouped together; talking about equipment]::Twombly: Never mind. You brought NOD, right?::Yurek: No, I did not bring it. You know why? Because you said: "You won't need that dude, we'll be back in a half-hour."::Twombly: [feeling guilty] I wasn't exactly saying that to you.
[Durant and Wolcott talk over the intercom as they fly past each other in their helicopters]::Durant: Six-One, this is Six-Four, go to UHF secure. I've got some bad news.::Cliff Wolcott: Limo is a word, Durant. I don't want to hear about it.::Durant: It is not a word. It's an abbreviation of a word.::Cliff Wolcott: Limo is a word in common usage. That is the key phrase in scrabble, my friend, common usage.::Durant: No! If it's not in the dictionary, it doesn't count.::Cliff Wolcott: It doesn't have to be in the dictionary!::Durant: It does have to be in the dictionary! Listen, when we get back to base, it's coming off the board.::Cliff Wolcott: You touch my limo and I'll spank you, Night Stalker. You hear me?::Durant: Yeah. Promises.
Eversmann: Nobody asks to be a hero, it just sometimes turns out that way.
[Watching a Somali mother pick up a gun]::Specialist Mike Kurth: Don't do it lady!
"Hoot": When I go home people'll ask me, "Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? What, you some kinda war junkie?" You know what I'll say? I won't say a goddamn word. Why? They won't understand. They won't understand why we do it. They won't understand that it's about the men next to you, and that's it. That's all it is.
Struecker: No one gets left behind, you know that.
Abdullah 'Firimbi' Hassan: You Americans don't smoke anymore. You live long, dull and uninteresting lives.
"Hoot": Y'know what I think? Don't really matter what I think. Once that first bullet goes past your head, politics and all that shit just goes right out the window.
Struecker: It's what you do right now that makes a difference.
Smith: I'm sorry.::Eversmann: You have nothing to be sorry about. You saved Twombly, you did it perfect.::Smith: You okay Twombs?::Twombly: Yeah, I'm okay, Jamie.::Eversmann: See, you did what you were trained to do. You should be proud of that, be proud of that.::Smith: Ev?::Eversmann: Yeah.::Smith: Do me a favor, okay? Tell my parents that I fought well today. And tell them that I... that I... that I fought hard.::Eversmann: You're gonna tell them yourself okay, Jamie?::Smith: Are... are the humvees here?::Eversmann: They're coming, Jamie. They're coming. You just gotta hold on for a little longer. Can you do that?::Smith: I can, I can. It's nothing. It's nothing.

[the pirates have heard what appears to be the ghost of Captain Flint]::George Merry: Long John, don't you go crossing no spirit!::Long John Silver: Spirit, eh? Maybe. But man, beast, or spirit... I don't care if it's Beelzebub himself. I'M GONNA GET THAT LOOT!
Squire Trelawney: Mutiny! By God, I'll see them hang for it!::Dr. Livesey: It's worse than Mutiny, Squire. It's murder. And if they're successful you won't see anything at all because you will be quite dead!::Squire Trelawney: Captain, you were right and I was wrong. I own myself an ass and I await your orders.::Captain Smollet: No more an ass than I, sir. This crew beats me!::Dr. Livesey: It's that Silver, he's a most remarkable man!::Captain Smollet: He'd look remarkably from a yard arm!
Captain Smollet, Redruth: [the crew have just fought off the attacking mutineers]::Redruth: I got one of them in the leg, sir. I'm sorry.::Captain Smollet: Nothing to be sorry for, man. You were fighting in self-defense.::Redruth: Yes, but I was aiming for his head. This musket was firing low!
Captain Smollet: *Bloody hell!* They've brought up a gun!
Long John Silver: One more word of your sauce, and I'll have your liver for breakfast.
[Silver sneaks up behind Ben Gunn, holding a knife to his throat.]::Long John Silver: Evening, Ben Gunn.::Ben Gunn: [nervously] Evening, Barbeque.::Long John Silver: It'd be a mortal shame if you was to cry out now. I might just let this here knife slip and cut your throat to the neck bone. It's mighty sharp.::Ben Gunn: Right.::Long John Silver: Right. Now you just stay the course there and give your old shipmate time to get away and I'll forget all about how you done me back there at the island.::Ben Gunn: Aye-aye, captain.::Long John Silver: You'll give me a good half hour to get up to windward, mind you!::Ben Gunn: I will.::[Long John turns away from Ben, ready to escape.]::Ben Gunn: [smiling now] And the best of luck to you, Silver!
Long John Silver: What a splendid thing it is to be young and have ten toes.
Morgan: I don't feel sharp. Thinking of Flint's whats done me!::Long John Silver: Thinking at all has done you Tom Morgan!
Long John Silver: What's the matter with you lubbers? Ye'd think ye'd never seen a man with his throat cut before!
Long John Silver: Them that dies'll be the lucky ones!

Quotes:
Long John Silver: Oh, for ten toes!
Long John Silver: And this'll be young Master Hawkins, I'll be bound. Hawkins - 'tis a proper seafaring name, too.
Dr. Livesey: When do we sail?::Squire Trelawney: Better ask Captain Smollett. Five days, he's been selecting a crew. Six men, all he's got to show for it.::Dr. Livesey: Cautious, eh?::Squire Trelawney: Cautious? He pries into every seaman's past like a judge at a quarter session. When I threatened to step in, he told me to hire a sea cook, so, by Jove, I did hire a sea cook, right out of his own tavern! Ha ha! Fellow by the name of Long John Silver. I didn't waste my time poring over his credentials. All the credentials I needed was a taste of his ham and his buttered eggs!
Jim Hawkins: Pirates, Captain Flint! Pirates!
Jim Hawkins: Everything he told us was a lie. I've been a fool, sir.
Long John Silver: Now, then, matey, don't ye take it so hard? Why, 'tis lucky you came along, or Ol' John here, he'd have nothing to bargain with. But that don't mean I'd harm a hair o' your little head.::Jim Hawkins: Liar! You let go of me!
Long John Silver: Them that die will be the lucky ones!
Long John Silver: Fire that musket and I cuts his throat

That comes hard from a master mariner to a ship's yonker like you, Jim. But you're like Silver said: smart as paint.::Jim Hawkins: One more step, Mr. Hands, and I'll blow your brains out!::Israel Hands: Now, now, matey.::[pulls a knife from his boot]::Israel Hands: Matey...::[throws the knife into Jim's shoulder, who promptly blasts Mr. Hands in the face with the pistol, sending him falling into the water]
