A WGN-TV studio meteorologist got into two verbal scuffles with a reporter at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport Wednesday morning. According to WGN-TV, weatherman Demetrius Ivory had previously suggested that severe weather was causing significant delays at the busy airport. Reporter Tonya Francisco disagreed, saying that she saw no signs of the delays at that moment. That’s when the fun began. “I’m just talking like I see it,” said Francisco. “You see, I’m outside. I see what’s going on. You are inside talking about some little weather maps.” “There’s a delay somewhere,” Ivory responded. “The least you could do is just help me out.”

ANYONE GROWING UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA DURING THE LATE '70'S-EARLY 80'S WHO WATCHED TELEVISION REGULARLY WOULD REMEMBER THE TRIUMPHANT OPENING HORNS FROM ROGER WHITTAKER'S "THE LAST FAREWELL". THE INTRO FOR THE SONG PROVIDED THE AUDIO BACKDROP FOR VARIOUS WGN CHANNEL 9 STATION IDENTIFICATION CLIPS. MANY HAD VOICEOVERS SAYING "THIS IS WGN TELEVISION CHICAGO SERVING CHANNEL 9 VIEWERS 24 HOURS A DAY". MOST OFTEN THEY WOULD FEATURE TIME CHECKS..."WGN TELEVISION 9,CHICAGO AT 7 O'CLOCK". IF IT WASN'T SO LATE AND I WASN'T SO SLEEPY,I WOULD HAVE DONE MY OWN VOICEOVER.....OH WELL...... ANOTHER PIECE OF WARM CHILDHOOD MEMORIES-ENJOY!! (YAWN).

Sunday, September 8, 1985. Cincinnati Reds versus Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL. Broadcasters Harry Caray and Steve Stone. Excerpt from the Reds' 9th inning when Pete Rose failed to get a hit. Earlier in the game Rose got career hits 4190 and 4191, the last one equaling Ty Cobb's major league record. Also, excerpt from the post-game highlights.
The first occurrence of the signal intrusion took place during then-independent station WGN-TV (channel 9)'s live telecast of its primetime newscast, The Nine O'Clock News (now known as WGN News at Nine). During highlights from the Chicago Bears' 30–10 home victory over the Detroit Lions that afternoon in the sports report, the screen went black for 15 seconds, then returned with a person wearing a Max Headroom mask and sunglasses, moving around and jumping. His head was in front of a sheet of moving corrugated metal, which imitated the background effect used in the Max Headroom TV and movie appearances. There was no audio other than a buzzing noise and an oscillating sound. The hijack was stopped after engineers at WGN switched the frequency of their studio link to the John Hancock Center...

I heard a puff
I heard a blow
I felt the ground
I felt the snow
I thought of linen and of lace
I never really saw his face
I heard a grunt
I heard a moan
I felt the sun
I saw the moon
I saw the northern light above
and the eclipse of the sun
I am a breath
I am a wish
I am a rocket
and a fish
I felt his measures and his weight
my own body as a scale
I heard a wisper in my ear
”you are not here, you are not here”
I saw the northern light above
and the eclipse of the sun
my feet was hurt and heals were sore
and I wondered why it burned
and I wondered why it burned
(repeat from start)
Then I had to climbe down
I went down to see the sun rise
and then I had to climbe back up again
I had to be there to see the sun rise
All the air that you sent to guide me
had a tone of the elephant grey
we were all there in the morning
we were there and we wanted to stay
(repeat)
So quite alot of what people had hear was right, some
