    The Unpaved Road

It has been a while since my last update, in honesty this is due to two reasons.

    A successful Kiel Week!

Kiel Week saw an end to the 2010/2011 ISAF World Cup series. With many Brits relaxing after Sail for Gold, or preparing for the Europeans Kiel wasn’t well attended but I was very happy to be representing Skandia Team GBR to make sure we finished on top of the medal table.

Looking forward to Round the Island Race

Finally I am having a much needed week off. No sailing, no boat work, just relaxing watching wimbledon and catching up on stuff at home.

    Gone fishing

Well that was the week that was... In all honesty it was super stressful, I think probably the fact that we were full of confidence after Holland regatta was the spur that we needed to keep believing after that first day.

    Sail for Gold 2011

We had high hopes going into the 2011 edition of the Sail for Gold regatta and a key regatta in the Olympic selection. After a solid start to the season we knew what we needed to do but at the end of the day it all fell apart on the second day of the regatta.

    The day that was....or wasn't...

Ok yeah yeah yeah i am a bit late writing this again, but I have been lost in a world of weirdness that has been today. That, and of course 'the apprentice' which Ben (i never watch telly) rodent is addicted too so we have to plan Wednesday's around!

Hello all from a breezy and sunny Weymouth. So far we have had 6 races in quite a range of conditions. The first two races were sailed in a really tricky Northerly breeze, the second race some boat's even had to sail upwind to the downwind finish !

    A brief interlude

There are only a few days before Skandia Sail for Gold so this week has been about just winding down a little bit, getting some time to catch up with a few things off the water and giving my body and my boat the attention it needs to be ready for when racing starts.

    Learning every day

It doesn’t matter how long you spend training in a venue there is still always something new to learn about it every day.  It has been great to have been able to spend the last month down in Weymouth, training hard and getting in some good hours on the water ahead of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta. Last week in particular we had some pretty strong breezes but it was all from a fairly similar direction so there has not been much chopping and changing in the conditions. No doubt we will get something completely different when the regatta is going on!

    Preparations going well

Things are starting to get interesting down here in Weymouth and Portland. With only a few days until the start of the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta the venue here has changed dramatically. The weather has also done an about turn and it looks as though summer may have come back, for a few days at least!
