    Penultimate Day in Hyeres

It is the penultimate day of the SOF 2011 ISAF World Cup Regatta here in Hyeres and things have finished unusually early which does mean I can get back to putting my bunting and other Royal Wedding decorations for my own little street party outside the van!

While the UK’s been enjoying some Easter sunshine, Skandia Team GBR has been preparing for the Semaine Olympique Francais – the French Olympic Sailing Week – in Hyeres which is the fourth stage of the ISAF World Cup series.

    Hyeres we are!

After a full on week at the 1st official Paralympic Camp of the year in Weymouth, both Niki and I were pretty tired.

    The Road to Hyeres

Well what a trip to Hyeres we have had! 900 miles, 18 hours, 14 redbulls and a lot of ipod action, and my sister and I finally arrived in the south of France! It was a pretty slow and boring journey, but saying that, we were travelling with a very precious cargo!

    Princess Sofia Trophy

Palma was a great week, a good result and also the perfect chance to test the kit and my fitness in a range of conditions.

    Down Time Inbetween Regattas

It is now Wednesday morning and I am chilling out in my house watching homes under the hammer. It has been a busy few weeks as we finished Palma on Friday, flew home on Saturday and then back on the water training with the other Paralympic classes on Monday and Tuesday.

    Roller Coaster Regatta

Well Princess Sofia Regatta was a bit of a roller-coaster for us. We arrived out there a couple of days for the regatta to get the boat all ready to go and get a few practice races in.

    Princess Sofia Gold

It’s been a good week for sailing in Palma with a successful regatta. The week started with some really strong off shore shifty winds, peaking at over 30 knots.

    Disappointing Result In Palma

Well - Having fought our way to 4th overall after day three we then went on to sail our worst finals races we have ever had dropping  to 8th and then down to unlucky 13th !!! This is our worst result to date by far and has come as great shock and serious disappointment.

I’m here in Palma the night before racing starts at the Princess Sophia regatta, the first stop on the European leg of the World tour.

    My Favourite Regatta

I’m really looking forward to the Palma Regatta next week; Palma’s probably my favourite event, it’s been nice to me in the past so I can’t wait to get out racing.
