Not alone in the battle
St Thomas Church partner with Open Doors supporting persecuted Christians around the world. Nina Kelly, a member of St Thomas Church is the Open Doors representative for St Thomas and also the National Prayer Co-ordinator for Open Doors UK & Ireland.
Above all else, persecuted Christians who we meet around the world ask for prayer to stand strong through persecution and martyrdom, for courage to defy their culture and for their daily needs.
Nigerian widow, Edet Okhouya whose husband was murdered for his faith told us "I am so happy to know that I am not alone in this battle of faith and that is why I am strong. The good Lord will bless you richly in all your endeavours."
Iranian prisoner Marzieh said “I would like to thank the thousands who prayed for us when we were in prison. We felt their presence alongside us. So please keep praying for those who are in prison for their faith and don't think that your prayers are unimportant.
Junas Naik from India said: "Only people of prayer, like you, have sustained me. I am alive today because of your prayers.
Open Doors have produced a wide range of materials to mobilise Christians to pray and to stand alongside our persecuted family who share our faith but not our freedom.
"If we want to leave an indelible mark on the world, there is no more powerful way to do it than by joining in God's purposes through prayer. Our Prayers can go where we cannot. While many things may seem impossible from a human standpoint, in the realm of prayer there are no impossibilities."
