A subreddit dedicated to the various iterations of Dungeons & Dragons, from its First Edition roots to its One D&D future.
I got into a debate with a friend about the idea of changing things behind the scenes to keep things at the parties level.
An example would be to give the party a hook for a wizard tower controlled by a wizard with a devil as a body guard. If the party goes at level 5 the devil is chain devil. While if they waited for a while and went at level 15 the devil would be a pit fiend.
I was wondering if other DMs were for or against this. As well as how players feel about it.
Edit:
To clear up some confusion. I’m not talking about leveling up things like town guards or bandits and such. Using the wizard devil example all the players hear is that there’s a wizard who has a pet devil. I don’t decide what kind of devil or the wizards stats until the players show up to his tower to fight him. As far at the players know that wizard has always had a pit fiend for a pet.

Svelte is a radical new approach to building user interfaces. Whereas traditional frameworks like React and Vue do the bulk of their work in the browser, Svelte shifts that work into a compile step that happens when you build your app. Instead of using techniques like virtual DOM diffing, Svelte writes code that surgically updates the DOM when the state of your app changes.
