1/3 When someone of standing states we need a Govt of national unity I listen. He’s right - events this week have created v serious crisis. PM secured support for & then scuppered it by accepting amendments from hard no deal Brexiteers

  5. 3/3 Having weakened her negotiating hand with it’s difficult to see how PM will get a good deal but even if she does it’s even more difficult to see it getting through Parliament. The only solutions to the impasse is Govt of national unity

  6. 2/3 If MPs of all parties were able to vote freely (free of whips and threats from their local assoc or CLP) we would leave the EU on a basis that puts jobs and prosperity first & see off the extremes that grip both main parties.

  7. . would not knowingly break a pair (and you never know who you’ve been paired with btw). The fault lies in the whips office - it could be deliberate which would be very serious or it’s a cock up on a v difficult day. I want to believe the latter.

As a supporter for 40 years I’m disgusted that I am hearing more from Tories like Anna Soubry, Phillip Lee and even Nicholas Soames on how to protect the people of this country from the disaster of than I am from our leader

Who is taking responsibility for failing to honour the pairing agreement for who is on maternity leave? More than just an extension of the other heavy handed tactics on display, it disrespects women and why maternity leave matters.

We know Vote Leave lied on a gargantuan scale - we now know they cheated too and it’s official. Did it affect the result? In a referendum where there was a 4% gap between Leave/Remain, they overspent by 10%. Go figure. All the more reason for a on the deal

The government has come to its senses and abandoned the idea of bringing forward the start of the summer recess. It was a daft idea and I and glad it has been dropped.

Tonight I voted against two ERG amendments to the Customs Bill that are legally inept, undermine the Government White Paper position (which I support) and have created yet more negotiating red lines.

Don't try any nonsense about a mistake - this is calculated, deliberate breaking of trust by govt whips to win at all costs. Brandon abstained in afternoon divisions, but voted in the two crunch votes after 6pm. There's a word for it - cheating.

Just how low will your govt stoop ? When delayed proxy voting motions, she *assured* those of us who were pregnant that we would be paired when necessary. Today your govt broke that agreement - paired with me but voted. Desperate stuff.
