Amrinder Gill (Punjabi: ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਗਿੱਲ; born 1976) is a Punjabi singer and actor. He started his career with the album named "Apni Jaan Ke" in 2000.

Early life

Gill was born and raised in Boorchand, Amritsar, Punjab. He has studied at Khalsa College, Amritsar. He received master's degree in agriculture science. He is alumni of Guru Nanak Dev University. During college, he performed Bhangra dance as a support artist for personalities like Sarbjit Cheema. Before starting his singing career, he worked in a bank.

Career

He recorded his first song for Jalandhar Doordarshan program Kala Doria. Gill came into the limelight with his breakthrough track "Paigam," followed by such hits such like "Daru," “Madhaania," “Khedan De Din," with Sunidhi Chauhan, and many others like "Mel Kara De" and "Dildarian." His album Judaa was considered one of the most successful Punjabi albums of all time. In 2012, Judaa received a Brit Asia Music Awards for 'best album. After the success of Judaa, In mid 2014, Amrinder Gill came up with a sequel Judaa 2.As judaa helped him to earn more success Judaa 2 did the same, Judaa 2 became a super hit in Punjab. Angrej

Angrej (Gurmukhī:ਅੰਗਰੇਜ, Shahmukhi:انگریج) is a 2015 Punjabi film directed by Simerjit Singh and starring Amrinder Gill, Ammy Virk, Binnu Dhillon, Aditi Sharma, Sargun Mehta and Sardar Sohi. The screenplay was written by Amberdeep Singh. Angrej was screened at Sikhlens: Sikh Arts & Film Festival -2015 It is a family film which shows the rural Punjab of the 1940s. All actors portray characters typical of 1945.

Plot

The film starts in modern-day Pakistan. An unnamed youth (Varun Sharma) is having problems with his girlfriend after she agrees to a match with a foreigner. The youth has secretly sold his father's scooter so that he could buy a gift for his girlfriend. He is invited to his friend's house, where a guest from India, Angrej, has come to his pre-partition home. Angrej originally starts a conversation with the boys about pre-partition India. When partition broke out, Aslam Cheema, his Muslim best friend, dropped Angrej's family to Amritsar while Aslam's family took over their house and property, where they are currently sitting. The youth, however, is in a bad mood and complaining about his girl problems and how his scooter was "stolen." Angrej immediately tells that the youth sold his scooter, so that he can buy a girlfriend a gift. When the boys ask how he was able to find out, Angrej begins his love story.

Ammy Virk

Ammy Virk (Amninderpal Singh Virk) is a Punjabi Bhangra singer and actor who mostly sings Punjabi songs. He started his career as a Punjabi singer with a single track which proved to be a very popular track. Later on he did other songs like ‘Yaar Amli’ and ‘jatt da sahara’ which popularized him in Punjabi music industry all over the world. His first album ‘Jattizm’ was released in 2013 which got the best album of the year award in PTC music awards. He also worked in the super hit Punjabi movie ‘Angrej’ with the famous singer and actor Amrinder Gill. His latest track ‘Zindabad Yarrian’ got a very good response from the youth of the Punjab. He is known for his Patiala-Shahi turban.
