Per l’Internazionale comunista [Towards the Communist International], L’Ordine Nuovo (26 July 1919)

Preamble

The writer and revolutionary Victor Serge [1890-1947] produced a series of searing novels, documentary histories, and correspondence that all in different ways explored the condition of geopolitics, modern revolution, resistance, and the tragedy of political defeat. Serge often wrote without hope of publication and his famous works The Case of Comrade Tulayev [1942] and Memoirs of a Revolutionary [1943] were written “for the desk drawer”.

Just as Serge wrote with more hope than expectation for an audience, then this blog site modestly aims to offer a series of reflections, commentaries, and insights germane to the political and social forces shaping the present. It will cover the broad themes of geopolitics, revolution, global capitalism, resistance, war, and more. It will draw insight from international politics, political economy, historical sociology, geography and literary criticism relevant to places and spaces in and beyond Mexico and Latin America. It will cover past and present research themes, aspects of teaching, and political engagement. It remains to be seen whether the ideas expressed might have been best left “for the desk drawer”.
