VA-No Hesitation to Resist 2 7" (2003,Forest Records)

This is another post that makes me feel weird and have some deja vu since i started working on it about two years ago as i was planning to post it in march 2012 and the day of first anniversary of Fukushima disaster, it was nearly a year after the insident and the flow of news in mass media had removed this tragedy from front line pages and more or less we had forgotten what happened and somehow in my mind i slightly related this record with this tragedy because of the cover artwork (gasmasks and radiation uniforms, ok there are weapons too so this is all just bullshit) and since the bands come from Japan....this is the lousy excuse for this post: Anyway, No Hesitation to Resist was a 10 inch compilation, released in 1999 by Forest Records and included some glorious names of Japanese scene such as Battle of Disarm, Effigy, Disclose and Beyond Description and some lesser known bands, Truth of Arise, Äpärät, Victims of Greed and others, this gem  was followed a few years later by a second part, this time in seven inches and the bands included were not as glorious as these in Pt1 but still deliver the goods: Peaceful Collapse, Kampfer, Discript, Criminal, Agree to Differ and C.P.S. I know only a few info about the bands collected from internet, Discript stands as the most known or "known as related with" since they were a pre-Beyond Description band and their split 7" with Y on German label Anomie Records from 1995 is long long time out of print, Peaceful Collapse were active duning late '90's and early '00's and had a couple of cdr and tape releases, some of them were posthumous releases of old material  in 2010-11, they also appeared in several Crust Night series comp. of Tribal War Asia, Agree to Differ had only a double split 7" with Change on FFT Label in 2002,  Kampfer is totally with out any trace on the web, (according to Discogs. com a band named Kampfer was in Fear Candy 59 cd comp of Terrorizer mag in 1995 but don't take this info for real, this comp. includes Amon Amarth, Benediction, Iced Earth and other metal bands so is another band). C.P.S. had only an appearance in Crust Night 2002 and as for Criminal, this contribution was their one and only shit as a band. The record came out on Forest Records, a label with Disprove, Beyond Description and Effigy releases as well the Meaningful Consolidation double 7". it comes in fold out paper sleeve with some lyrics and band info in English & Japanese, all bands deliver shitloads of noise with Discript, and Agree to Differ to win my taste, Peaceful Collapse and Kampfer are interest too. I said so much useless shit, ends here.

VA-Under the Cloudy Sky-Kanazawa City Hardcore (1994,MCR Company)

Under the Cloudy Sky-Kanazawa City Hardcore belongs to the endless seven inch compilation list of MCR Company  and as the title says it consists of bands from Kanazawa City. MCR released a bunch of 7" compilations back in '90's, each one dedicated to one city: Tokyo, Sapporo City, Kyoto, Yokosuka City, Mie City, Shizuoka City and many many others. Kanazawa City Hardcore came out in 1994 in 700 copies and its long long time out of print, it consists of four bands, Iconoclast, Damnable Excite Zombies, Noise Gate and Override Negative. Iconoclast and D.E.Z. are well/widely known, i posted Who does the freedom and equality exist for? and Suck your soul 7"  some years ago so check these posts for some bullshit ranting about them, if you know anything about Iconoclast's singer being also in Crow just drop some lines to reveal the mystery, i have met some conflicting opinions on the web. The other two bands didn't make it out of Japan or at least i never met them around yet, according to Discogs.com Noise Gate appeared in Revolutionary Cry 7" in 1995 which is another seven inch comp by MCR while Override Negative contributed some tracks to Ultimate Attack cd (1994, Ultimate Records).
The record came in four way fold-out cover, each band contributes one song: Iconoclast dominate here, their song appeared in their demo tape, Noise Gate stand equal to Iconoclast and deliver a fast and angry piece of Jap-core with catchy riffs and rough vocals, D.E.Z. are great too with their thrashing hardcore while Override Negative bring some US orientated hardcore.
Go get it,give it a listening and join the rally in your town

VA-Polka Slam/Crisis Point 7'' (Sisters of Percy Records,1988)

This is an old and forgotten four way split 7" coming from late '80's and was given for free with the fanzine with the same name. The bands included here are H.D.Q., Instingators, Culture Shock and Bolt Thrower (yes, the Bolt Thrower we all know appears among punk bands).
Sisters of Percy Records (Percy not Mercy) is the label behind this little gem, this was released in 1988 and came in fold out paper sleeve in 2000 copies, all tracks were exclusive recordings and the variety of bands (from death metal to punk rock and from hardcore to reggae) is strange and unusual to the standards of a compilation record (remember Pathological comp with bands coming from different genres, though not much brutality here except Bolt Thrower).
So there are four bands here and a bonus track, a ranting by Geoff Simmons. Culture Shock were a reggae band and incl.people from Subhumans (thanks to Mr filosofos for the info), Instingators started in 1980 in Dewsbury, England with Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw (who later started Peaceville Records) being one of founding members and they had a shitload of recordings, check wikipedia for many details, loads of their releases are posted in blogs. H.D.Q. were from Sunderland, they were active about the same time (85-90), they run this site , also there is a band's history in Kill From The Heart. Bolt Thrower were the Bolt Thrower we know. Apart from this ep, Sisters of Percy are behind Surf Weasel's A Mind of Your own 7" (1991) and the recent release of Liberty...We Want The Real Thing lp comp. (incl. Citizen Fish, Surf Weasels etc)
This was Polka Slam/ Crisis Point, this is not my rip and i can't remember where or when i got it, actually the crisis point is in Japan right now with destruction, dead and missing people and the nightmare lurking inside reactors at nuclear plants.

VA-Tokyo Crusties 7"(DIY Rec.s,1994)

Here is a compilation that delivers some great acts of noise coming from the Land of the Rising Sun: Tokyo Crusties is a 7" released in 1994 by DIY Records and includes Crocodile Skink, Battle of Disarm, Abraham Cross and Collapse Society.
The record comes in two gatefold pieces and includes lyrics and address infos of bands, DIY Records is a label run by Asada, vocalist of Battle of Disarm. My misunderstanding about a Tokyo Crusties vol2 caused by rumors on web was finally cleared when curious guy set things right: There is not any vo2 but Meaningful Consolidation 2x7" (also released by DIY Rec.s and a bunch of other labels), chronologically or because of the label involved could be considered as a vol2
Check this blog for more details about Crocodile Skink and Battle of Disarm, I know only a few about Collapse Society:they had a demo(1993) and a st/ 7" (on Overthrow Rec.s) which came with two different color covers (white and yellow) and there was a clear vinyl version of it. Abraham Cross were from Tokyo, "they began in the mid-90s as a relatively typical, though highly accurate, Tokyo crust imitator of England’s Sore Throat, Extreme Noise Terror, and Doom; today, they combine noisy crust with a krautrock influence to create a hybrid sound quite unlike any other band I have heard. “Message from Forever pt. 1” is their most meandering excursion"(from Shit-Fi.com)... Their discography includes a demo, Peace can't Combine (lp & cd), End of Time tape (Black Konflik Rec.s) and split w/ Struggle for Pride (2003,Paank Levyt), (i dont know if they have released any other shit, any help is appreciated) and appeared in several compilations (Meaningful Consolidation, Crust Night cd (2002,Tribal War Asia Rec.s), Terro-Rhythm, Tokyo Sound System I & II (2002-05,New Smell), Fuck Religion, Fuck War, Fuck The Lot Of Jesus! tape and also appeared in All Crusties Spending Lound Night dvd(2002).
Each band delivers two tracks, Abraham Cross bring the heavier stuff, they sound like a Doom/Extreme Noise Terror blending ( these tracks appear in Peace can't Combine along with the tracks from Meaningful Consolidation and other recordings from early '90's) though Battle of Disarm is the band that have copied the riff of Relief in Murderer is Hero, Crocodile Skink are just fine, Collapse Society come last for my taste but not bad at all..
i said enough.. go get it!

crust!!!!

V/A-Human dust vol 2

This is a crust/grind compilation released by an unknown label from Dortmund, Germany but what makes it something more than a usual noisy compilation is the tunes of a well known crust legend: Doom appear under a different name and deliver a short grindcore-y track recorded in 1989, This was a surprise for me since there is nothing on front/back cover mentioning about them..
I know nothing about Na Und? Records and only a few about the bands that appear here: The compilation is titled vol 2, sometime before this a vol 1 came out, i have never seen it around though. It comes in foldout cover and purple vinyl and was released in 2000
There are 10 bands and 12 tracks here, most of the them are unknown or at least i never met them before: Basalt is a crust/grind act from Germany and all i know about them is the split w/ Accion Mutante.vÖlkeRmord deliver one track of heavy and sick midpaced stenching crust/grind, they come from Rhur, Germany and they have no any relation to the black metallers from Sweden with the same name. They recorded one demo, they released one lp and according to their myspace they are going to release a split with Instinct of Survival
Tolshock come from Sweden and members were connected with bands such as G-Anx, Counterblast, Farcical ,Warcollapse and many others, they released two 7"s, one split 7" and two 3", Chris posted some of their releases here.
Wartoys come from Germany, all i know about them is "Nachzehrer 7",(thanks to Pope) and Mikes from the band used to run Washingrad Crust blog
Instinct of Survival are the crust dinosaurs from Hamburg and need no any introduction, their tracks come from their early days when they were a grindcore band, once again Pope has posted something for you, here
Tuco Ramirez are absolutely unknown to me but thanks to Bacteria we can lean a few things about them:two tapes, one split w/ Boycot and a few contributions is their history. Music wise they are noisy grinding hardcore
Staniak were from Lüneburg, Niedersachsen, not any infos on their my space
Gmork are the last band from Germany, i dont know anything about them, the black metal band from Russia with the same name has no any relation with them
Sick Terror's track reminds me of Ratos de Porao, they formed in 2000 and they already have a long back catalogue,
And last but not least, Slorm is Doom with John (vocals,)Bri (guitar),Pete(bass) and Stick(drums), the track was recorded in Birmingham in Xmass eve of 1989, there is a small text inside the cover but i don't understand not a single word..i wish only their stuff was a bit more..

V/A-Bloodless unreality 7"

Can i make a question please? How would a compilation be bad when bands such as Destroy, Assuck, Confrontation and Hellnation are included and unleash their noise on vinyl surface? Well, in case like this, the question is simply rhetoric and the answer is there is no way a compilation like this to be bad...this is a masterpiece!
"Bloodless unreality" was released in 1992 by Forfeit Records, it was an anti-war compilation, the cover was an eight page booklet with lyrics and other infos, all tracks are lyrically related to aspects of war.
There s no much to say about the bands, Destroy are just awesome with two tracks of their grinding crust, Hellnation deliver two tracks too including "Politicians" of Raw Power. Confrontation were from Southern California, formed in late 80's and split in early 90's, their track is ok but comparing to "1989-demo" 7" or "Dead against the war" 7" the vocalist sounds tired and weak, Todd the bassist later went on with Dystopia. And finally Assuck finish the compilation with two grindcore blasts in their usual level of brutality. About ten minutes total running time of grindcore, thrashcore / powerviolence and grinding crust. There s nothing left to say, now go get it
Tracks:
01:Destroy-Vile horrendous aerial bombardement
02:Destroy-War without mercy
03:Hellnation-Politicians (Raw Power)
04:Hellnation-Death squads
05:Confrontation-Insurgence
06:Assuck-Procession
07:Assuck-Blindspot

V/A - Standardsituationen 2

Finally back with a new post after some time during which Billy shouldered the entire blog burden. This is not the post I originally had in mind, but it will have to do - it's a pretty good compilation, after all. So, yes, yet another compilation & probably a somewhat obscure one - in fact, I got this from a german (it was put out in Germany) & I've only heard greek people ever discussing (or owning...) it (Ναυτία/Naytia - greek for Nausea - contribute a song, albeit in the same version contained in their LP). Seeing as this has been an Antifa benefit, I can only hope it fared better back in the day than its current status would indicate.

I'll keep it short, then. Naytia contribute Χρυσή Νεολαία (Golden Youth); further, the awesome belgians Nations On Fire (what a band! some blogwise-old-timers might remember this post as well) contribute T.V. Reality, which also appeared in the "Death Of The Pro-Lifer" LP. This rounds up Side B - Side A, on the other hand, contains a long track by House Of Suffering ("Insel" - german for island), & I'd have to be a liar to write that I knew House Of Suffering when I bought this. In fact, I still know next to nothing about them, but at least search engines can probably deliver more information on this band nowdays than 5 years ago. Naturally, I also rely on german readers of this blog to fill us all in, as "Insel" is as solid a track as I've (re)heard in a long time.

That's it folks, it's getting pretty late. Enjoy.

V/A-Murders among us 7"

Here is old diamond coming from the early 90's:"Murders among us" was a 7" compilation, it was released in 1990 by Combined Effort and Vermiform Records and delivers four NY bands: Life's Blood, Absolution, Nausea and Born Against
Life's Blood formed back in 1987 including in their ranks Adam Nathanson (guit, who later formed Born Against), Jason O'Toole (vox, fanzine editor and promoter of Combined Effort ) and Neil Burke (bass, later in Born Against too). Check wikipedia for a brief biography.,check also this fukin interview...oh,shit..
True Punk and Metal blog posted Life's Blood demo tape and Milan of Suicide City blog the legendary "Defiance" ep. In alternative, you can visit Am i Mean?, Pope posted the demo, the "Defiance" plus some comp. tracks in one post . Check also "Live on WNYU" on Sound and Fury blog .
Absolution formed in 1987 too including Alan Peters (bass) who had played on “Liberty and Justice For…” of Agnostic Front, Gavin Van Vlack (previously on Side By Side,an sXe band) and Djinji Brown (vox) who was the son of saxophonist Marion Brown. When they disbanded members formed Burn and other bands. I don't know Absolution's discog in details,(some demos and a st 7" is all i know), Temperance released in1997 the "Complete discography 1987-89"
Nausea and Born Against need no introduction, both bands are familiar to everyone, right?
Born Against appear in "Forever", another legendary comp and Pope has already posted their split w Man is the Bastard and boot split w Yuppicide

Absolution deliver (maybe) the best track here and the rest bands are ok: Life's Blood and Born Against are just fine in their usual hardcore while Nausea are more in to hardcore fields than the crustie sound of
"Cybergod","Lie circle" and "Extinction" lp. What's common to all bands is that they are all off the sXe, youth crew thing of these days in NY scene
thats it.. now go get it.
Tracks:
01:Life's Blood-Human power
02:Absolution-Dead and gone
03:Nausea-Electrode
04:Born Against-The good father

V/A-Drinking is great 7" comp

Here we are again but hwile we were away some serious shit happened:If you tried to download anything during the last days you probably noticed a problem, yes all links were dead, both servers Divshare and 4shared deleted the uploaded files and banned my accounts so things were really serious, the 90-95% of links were dead and only Whispy's links were still active. Due to its policy Div deleted all my files while 4shared activated back my account 24 hours later. Its quite strange two servers doing the same shit at the same time. I don't know if either 7inchcrust is victim of a bad circumstance or someone choose to complain there and not to make a comment here and ask about removing a(some) record(s) but whatever is the truth behind our conjecture, the fact is all the work done and uploaded in Div now has been lost. Its hard to re-up all these files,it will take weeks and months of hard work, some records were visitors fave's so these ep's will be up as soon as it is possible, for the rest we ll see. maybe some request reup's and for the rest only samples of one or two tracks. we ll see...
Anyway, we would like to celebrate the 200.000 visits with not such problems but thats life. We have reached the 200.000 visitors here and we want to thank all of you who visited, commented, downloaded, contributed and blah blah blah (the usual rant), now we head on for the 300.000 (hopefully) so lets have a drink and celebrate, cheerss!

"Drinking is great" is a compilation that came out in 1985 on Fatal Erection Records, a label run by Pig Champion (RIP) and Malcolm Conover. Fatal Erection released "Pick your king" and "Record collectors are pretentious assholes" of Poison Idea plus some ep's of Final Warning, E13, Osgood Slaughter and the Turbonegro/Flying Crap-split 10".
There' s no need to say anything about the kings of punk, so only a few words about the other bands: E13 (or Etherteen) were from Eugene, Oregon, they started in 1982 and released two ep's :"No mercy for swine" in 1984 and "Quest for Gilligan" in 1985, both on Fatal Erection. Damon Oliver their original vocalist died by liver disease in spring of 2006, you can find a brief biography of band, photos etc here. Members of E-13 formed Osgood Slaughter (1986/87) and released a 12" on (where else? ) Fatal Erection.
Lockjaw were from Portland and they were accused for being fascists. They selfreleased two ep's "Shock value"(1982) and "Dead friends" (1983). the E13 webpage labels them as neo-fascists but according to Kill From The Heart " Lockjaw was labeled "Portland's most hated band, they were ripped by the media, protested, and a couple of local record stores destroyed all the band's records. The band was accused of being nazis and white power racists, but it was all hysteria, rumor, and of course not true...", ... The record review of "Shock value" in Maximum Rock n Roll #3 states "Unfortunately the lyrics are really stupid, being sexist, violence prone and despite their protestations, racist as hell". A bunch of violent idiots i guess..
Final Warning were the old legends from Portland, the only release by them is their ep on Fatal Erection (1984, was re-released in 2008 by Black Water Records), they started in 1982 under the name Broken Trust and sometime they included Glenn Estes and Charlie Nims (aka Myrtle Tickner) who also played in Poison Idea. Members continued with Napalm Beach, Gruntruck, Zipgun and others, apart from Drinking is Great they appeared in "Northwest Hardcore" comp. tape (Media Blitz, 1988), in 2008 they formed back, you will find more details here
Tracks:
01:Poison Idea:Laughing boy
02:E-13:Pangreatitis
03:Lockjaw:You dick
04:Final Warning:I quit

V/A-Anglican scrape attic 7" (flexi)

"Anglican scrape attic" is an old and forgotten jewel and a pre-Earache flexi 7" released in 1985 by Nottingham scenester and future Earache founder Digby "Dig" Pearson. Earache was born a few years later
This flexi was an international compilation with bands from UK, USA and Japan. 5000 copies were made and a sticker included. In the catalog of Earache it appears in the pre-Earache section as a Earache release but with no catalog number.
The artwork is weird (or my mind plays games with me and i see no trace of metal or punk in this cover?), the inside sleeve includes lyrics and contact infos.
Music wise the record is pretty interesting because of all these genres included there:Thrash metal, hardcore from Japan, UK hardcore and thrash/crust.

Side A belongs to the bands from USA and Japan: In the beginning things are getting much metallic with Hirax from Buena Park, Ca. They contribute a track taken from their debut "Raging violence" lp (1985,Metal Blade), "Destruction and terror" is a thrash metal song with thrash riffage and metal vocals. Neither great nor mediocre, not bad for me, its on your metal orientate taste to get this but after while things change and dudes from Tokyo take over and the record moves into hardcore pathways: Execute's "Your eyes" was a unreleased track back in these days, a different version of it appeared one year later in "Omen of fear" 7"(Selfish Records),the side ends with Lip Cream and another piece of japanese hardcore
Side B belongs the UK bands:Concrete Sox from Nottingham begin with ‘Eminent Scum pt I & II'. The sound is pretty raw, And then comes the best track of compilation: Sacrilege with "Blood run" bring the metallic feeling again with their thrash metal and high pitched female vocals. Too thrashy but too crusty in the same time.
What is common in both UK bands is the fox anti-hunting thing:The Concrete Sox track is taken from their debut "Your Turn Next" lp(1985,COR Records). this was a libel against the traditional hunting of fox in England and "Blood run" lyrics deal with the same topic too. Sacrilege track was taken from their second demo tape.
That was the rant, now go get it,
Tracks
01:Hirax-death and destruction
02:Execute-Your eyes
03:Lp Cream-Top fight
04:Concrete Sox-Eminent scum pt i & II
5:Sacrilege-Blood run

VA-Consolidation 7" comp

Consolidation is a rare comp. 7" coming from the 80's, it was released in 1987 by Pathway Records (#: P-01), it came out in fold-around sleeve and the vinyl surface delivers the tunes of Revulsion, Deviated Instinct and Rhetoric. Each band delivers two tracks: Deviated Instinct need no any introduction, "Stromcrow" appears in "Re-opening old wounds" comp (1993, Desperate Attempt Records) along with other rare and comp. tracks from the era of 86-87 whilst "House of cards" is an alternative version of the track with the same title from "Rock n Roll Conformity" (1988, Peaceville Records).

The other two bands stand equal to Deviated Instinct: Revulsion deliver two hardcore tracks and Rhetoric two noisy outbreaks. Revulsion was a Norfolk outfit, they were born from the ashes of Scattered Remains and Ancient Creation, searching the web i discovered two records:"Ever get the feeling of utter revulsion" lp (1985 on Radical Change Records) and "The only revolution" 7" on Nabate Records in 1991. Apart from "Consolidation" there is a Revulsion track in "Anarcho punk vol 3-Anti-society" comp cd (Overground Records), a track from their early days in "We wont be your fucking poor"(Mortarhate) and in "Words worth shouting" (Radical Change) and "A Vile Peace"(Peaceville). There is also a demo tape a rehearsal, both from 1986, they split around '91
I know only a few about Rhetoric, they were from Norwich Yarmouth, (thanks Andrew), these two tracks on "Consolidation" are their only recorded material that appears on vinyl. They had a couple of pretty chaotic demos (Straight over the edge can be found here) and a Live @ Yarmouth (11.2.88 ), Panzwerbadger blog posted some of rehearsal and demo recordings here. Some members now play in local ska punk bands.
Check the new version of Deviated Instinct page created by Snapa here, A Revulsion facebook page created by Steve, member of band is here, a flyer from a gig with these three bands in Norwich in 1987: here it is
Tracklist:
1:Revulsion-Out of touch
2:Rhetoric-Studio cafe
3:Deviated Instinct-House of cards
4:Deviated Instinct - Stormcrow
5:Revulsion-Christmas
6:Rhetoric-To no one in particular
