Selfish-st (a.k.a. System kills) 7"(Genet Records,1993)

Every time i see this record i remember a well known label mentioning in their site in the trade section: "No trades with bands that have artwork with corpses or pile of skulls" or something like that. Well, this ep has a pile of skulls but is also great so it should not included in this rule in case of trade lol lol lol.
Selfish started in 1989 in Turku, Finland and included people involved with Forca Macabra and Uutuus, they became widely known with the release of split w Doom on Ecocentric Records in 1994. System kills is their first record released back in 1993 by Genet Records. There are four tracks here of powerful and noisy crustcore, two of these appeared also in Pro-Life control/Tear silence into pieces split lp. Vinyl comes in a simple gatefold cover and there is nothing mentioning the title of ep (thus this is a st ep, System kills is the title of first track). Vocals are acid screams and remind of Japanese noise acts, drums bring basic beat lines in fast pace, guitar reflect the blending of UK and Japanese hardcore, sound is raw and noisy and lyrics included on back cover.
Selfish moved from crustcore of their first ep to a more traditional Japanese hardcore and became a kind of "Japanese band from Europe" the same way Burial is today, their discography includes a bunch of ep's: A split 7" w Disclose (DIY Records, 1995), a Japanese Tour 7" (1997, Otto Itkonen Productions,a label run by Selfish/Forca Macabra members), The Joy of the Industrial Society 7" (Genet, 1998) a split w Liberate (HG Fact,1999), a couple of lp's/cd's: Burning Sensation lp/cd (Ferald Ward/HG Fact,2001), Cause Pain (Ferald Ward/Combat Rock,2005) and some compilations:Flashback cd (Pain Killer Rec.s, 2001), Cry for Love, Cry for Death cd (Deadalive,2002). According to their my space "A new album entitled "Life has no vacant time" has been recorded and will be released on Feral Ward late 2010 "

Kaaos-Totaalinen kaaos 7"

I don't like birthdays, i can't stand it. You need to remember dates, get some presents,be pleasant to visitors, oh man i don't like this celebration shit, happiness and fun and bullshit. On the other hand a day like this its always a good excuse for booze and drunk time with a few good friends.
But this particular birthday never gets me bored: its the date this blog started in March of 2007. Shiitt.. we have grown up and become three years old, its only three years but it looks so distant, now looking back i see many hours spent to keep this crappy blog alive and Whispy's helping hand was a fresh air. Many thanks to everyone who helped in his way: contributing a record, adding some information, correcting a mistake or just entering to say "hello, you think you are cool but you really suck!" We don't know how long this blog with stay alive but it will as long as we have some noise to post and as long as your comments give some courage when we are exhaust (and bored lol).
This is it, now i m going to get some more booze. Oh i forgot the record: well, there is no need to say anything about Kaaos and the legendary Totaalinen Kaaos ep. This is vinyl rip from Totaalinen Kaaos 12" (2003,Hohnie Records, no i don't own this 7" jewel) and covers were blatantly stolen from Finnmusic.net.
That's the little rant, now get the ep, then listen it while have a drink and be merry. Cheers!

Wind of Pain-State of brutality 7"

Wind of Pain was a crust band from Helsinki, Finland, they formed around 1993 by people who were also in Selfish, Forca Macabre, Rytmihäiriö, Circus of Flesh and the viking/folk metallers Moonsorrow. They recorded Warpain Explosion three track demo tape and two years later they released two split ep's with Finnish punks Sian Iho (selfreleased) and Money Drug from Poland on Scream Rec.s. State of brutality was released in 1996 and one year later they released Wealthrevel 7" (Scapegoat Rec.s), a split tape with Disclose came out in 1999 by the Slovenian label Abnormal Tapes. Worldmachine was their first and only full length, it came out in 1999 by Malarie. Malarie also released the discog tape Mutilate Mankind, incl. the 95-97 recorded material plus some compilation tracks (thanks to Kris for the link)
State of brutality came out in February of 1996 by the Japanese label Paank Levyt and there is a second pressing (clear vinyl). There are six tracks but only five on the tracklist on back cover, music wise this delivers mid pace to fast crust with metallic riffs, rhythm section full of energy and deep low throaty vocals, imagine Hellshock playing their their songs faster and using a few Hellbastard riffs here and there and you got Wind of Pain.

Kaaos/Svart Aggression - (split 7")

I promised this little, not-all-that-easy-to-find-anymore gem in the previous post (well, also in the Pack post over half a year ago...), & here it is: the Kaaos/Svart Aggression split 7" from 2000... A new blog, Friendly Party, will hopefully also be posting another rip of this same record soon - go get their copy as well, as this one has a few pops (not that they're audible amidst the mayhem...).

For a very brief history of Svart Aggression, see the Contravene/Svart Aggression split 7" post right below. For Kaaos, well, look pretty much anywhere (including wikipedia.) Finnish legends from Tampere in their first appearance on record for years (the 10" 'Ismit' followed); meanwhile, Jakke has sadly died, so don't expect more new Kaaos material. As for whether this is worth it or not, you'd have to be naive to think I'd pen a Kaaos review - listen to it & decide yourselves. Enjoy & pick this up wherever you find it!Svart Aggression

Absurd Attitude-North 7"

Absurd Attitude was a heavy metallic crust act from Finland and "North" 7"was their latest release. They formed in 1996/97 and released three 7"s and one 10":"Modern lobotomy" ep (1997),"Born in a environmental disaster" ep (1998), "Endless misery" 10" and "North" (1999). All records were released by Fight Records. They also appeared in compilations such as "Civilization backwards" (Civilization Rec.s 1998), "Tampere vs Portland" (Fight,2002), and in triple 7" Kaaos tribute on Fight,2002.
"North" came out in 1999 in standard black vinyl and simple gatefold cover and as you see artwork is far from crust cliches. It delivers three tracks and what is remarkable here is the running time: Side a is about nine minutes long and the nearly seven minutes length of side b make this a long time running ep. Music wise this is metallic, heavy, slow and mid-paced emotional crust blending Antisect riffs and Neurosis modern crust feeling. Lyrics included.
This is out of print, actually all Absurd Attitude records are sold out from Fight but if you are lucky you will find a copy floating on the web. We would appreciate any further information about the band from Finnish crusties and whoever who knows anything .
tracks:
01:Popularity hell
02:Ultimate weakness
03:Northern angst

Unkind-Who's the fucking terrorist?

"Who's the fucking terrorist" is one of the early Unkind releases, these dudes started as Speedapple back in late 90's, there must be some demo recordings from 1998/99 and in 1998 they released their first (st) 7" on Witchhunt Records and one year later the split 7" w Police Bastard ((Fight Rec.s) and "Who's the..", they are still active and in 2007 they released "Hangen syliinch"cd, some members are in a band called Lahempana Loppua. check "Verinen ilotulitus" post for more details about their discography
All of you who downloaded "Verinen ilotulitus" and expect from "Who's the..." something in the same vein, you better forget the clean melodies and the whole Tragedy feeling:"Who's the..." is more straightforward rough crust having its roots in Finnish hardcore and 90's crust sound. The record delivers seven tracks (incl. one Kaaos cover), it came out in 1999 on Fight Records on black vinyl, 1000 copies were made and a limited number of copies was multicolored, the package is a fold out sleeve with poster and (to coin Whispy here) in "typical crust fashion" the track list printed on back cover is wrong
that's it. now go get it
Tracklist:
01:Black and green
02:Pohjanmaa
03:Vaihotehto (Kaaos cover)

Unkind-Verinen ilotulitus 7''

Unkind is one of the best bands of Finnish scene, they are around for about a decade and their powerful crust was a Terra Ingognita to me since i digged them for first time a few months ago (Shame on me! these dudes are fucking great.)
Their discography is the eponymous ep (Witchhunt Records, 1998), "Who’s the fucking terrorist" ep (Fight, 1999), a split ep w Police Bastard (Fight, 1999), "Plant the seed" 10” (Fight / Pathetique), a split 7" w Sawn Off (Pathetique,2001), "Mieliemme tuhkasta" (Yellow Dog,2005), "Ei mitaan, lp(Combat Rock Industry, 2006) and "Hangen Syliin" (Combat Rock Industry, 2007). They also appeared in "Rajoitettu Ydinsota:Tribute To Rattus(Fight, 2000) and "Passing bells" ep(Passing Bells Recors, 2001), and in Combat Rock Industry compilations "Combat Rock Sound" vol 1(2005) and II (2006). Members of Unkind are in a band called Lahempana Loppua.

"Verinen ilotulitus" ep was released by Fight Records in 2003, only 500 copies were pressed and according to Fight website this is out of print, It consists of four tracks including one Antisect cover. The eponymous tracks opens the record and its the sign of what you should expect here: Unlike the majority of scandinavian bands Unkind are closer to PDX bands and they are not just another crusty dis band. The Tragedy,His Hero is Gone and From Ashes Rise influences are obvious here, The rest tracks are in the same vein , the Antisect cover is well done, the sound quality is excellent, lyrics in finnish and english(printed on back cover).
I have nothing else to add here, Verinen ilotulitus is representative of what you get here, dig it in Hardcore Holocaust if you like it
Tracks:
01:Verinen ilotulitus
02:On my throat
03:Why must i die (Antisect cover)

W.D.M.-Democracy? 7"

I got this mood tonight, call it either retro cult or old school worship and is the reason for diving into this 80's rarity:
W.M.D. were a hardcore band from Finland, they formed around 1983 and disbanded around 1990. Digging the web i found a few infos about these punks, thanks to Kill from the Heart and Finnmusic.net: Their discography is three ep's:"Democracy?"(1985,Vaihtoehto), "Tomorrow's gone"(1985,Vaihtoehto,300 copies) and "Freedom of music"(1988,M&M Productions,500 copies). Apart from these ep's they contributed tracks in "Nobody's perfect" ep (1986,Leukemia Records), "Barabas comp tape" (1986,Barabas Records/BCT), "There is no reason to be happy" ep(1986,Artcore Records), "War" ep (1987,Over the Top Records-USA)," Maanalainen vuosikerta" lp (1989,Stigma Records)
Furthermore:i had found some infos in obscure distro about "Homakohu" tape comp and "Vapautus"7" comp(1986,Bunker Musik,a label from Germany) and W.D.M. were in both releases but i didn't save the url and now google search gives no results...any help out there?

"Democracy?" is their first ep, it was recorded in December of 1984 released in '85 by W.D.M.'s own label Vaihtoehto Records, it was limited to only 300 copies and these tracks were W.D.M.'s contribution to "Barabas" comp tape. Their sound is typical Finnish hardcore of 80's (Kaaos, Bastards etc), they sing in english and tracks 2 & 3 ("Passive observers" & "Killer") are one track on vinyl but separated as different tracks in lyrics text
Check W.D.M. myspace and listen some tunes from other releases..
Tracks:
01:Reality
02:Passive observers
03:Killer
04:Democracy?
05:War! why?

Disrupt /Tuomiopäivän Lapset-split 7"

This is Disrupt/Tuomiopaivan Lapset Split 7", released on Ecocentric Records in 1992. Disrupt need no introduction: Once again, they walk in their familiar territory of noisy and grinding crustcore with raging guitars, bursting drums and distorted vocals, offering three tracks of manic crust.
Tuomiopäivän Lapset contribute four tracks of dis-core with angry shouting vocals singing in Finnish, d-beat feeling and bashing drums. They were from Tornio, Finland, they formed in early 90's and were active for about a decade, their discography includes a bunch of ep's,some of them are posthumous releases (they called in quits in 1998), there is a 59 track double LP including their discography, it was released by Power it up (and can be found here).
The Disrupt tracks are included in the "the Rest-2CD" compand in Discog CD of Dead Alive Rec.s.

Effigy/Havaistys-split 7"

This is the split Effigy/Havaistys-The falling clouds/Laki ja Evankeliumi(eeh.. do i spell it right??), released in 2002 on Wispers in the Darkness Records.
Effigy were worhsipers of Amebix and Axegrinder from Japan. Here they contribute two tracks of their metallic mid paced crust with raw and thick production, metal edged riffs, brutal growling vocals and a feeling of 80's metallic crust of the mentioned bands above. Effigy appear in All Crusties Spending Loud Night DVD(2002) and their discography
includes Evil fragements ep (1999 on Dark Age,re-released in 2005 as cd by Hardcore Kitchen with four live bonus tracks),a split 7" with Aparat (2000,Forest Records), From hell 7"(a.k.a Grinding Metal Massacre,2003 on Crust War)., a split 10"/CD with Hellshock, (2004,Wicked Witch, cd version on Crimes Against Humanity) and finally in 2007 the "Apocalyptic Nightmare Continues" split tape with Abigail on Black Konflik Records. There is also the "Darkest four" split tape
Havaistys included Finnish and Japanese members involved with
Forca Macabra, Conclude and Rythmihairo. Their hardcore has some old school thrash influences in a d-beat mixing with shouting vocals, fast and slower rhythms and some thrash parts here and there. The production is raw and an old school feeling is hiding behind the guitar works.Good stuff though..
Tracklist:
Effigy side:
1. Shattered hell
2. Swear to god
Havaistys side:
3. Kaikki on jo havaisty
4. Helvetin myrsky

Homomilitia/Forca Macabra-split 7"

Homomilitia were a political hardcore/crust band with dual male female vocals from Poland. The band was formed in early 90's and released a couple of lp's and this split ep with Forca Macabra. The lady who sings here latter joined the ranks of doomy metallic crusties Lost.
Forca Macabra come from Brazil.. guh.. guh.. i mean they come from Finland. Formed in 1991, they have lyrics in Portuguese, their music is dedicated to the brazilian hardcore scene and they are still active and keep thrashing....
Homomilitia offer here two tracks of crusty hardcore with dual male vocals in "Ziema" and male/female in "Multinationals". Fast hardcore crust, aggressive vocals, politicals lyrics in polish and good sound production. Forca Macabra offer four tracks and i think this stuff comes from a demo recording. Gruff vocals,
fast rhythms, noisy guitars, raw production and the familiar Brazilian touch of their hardcore. An insert is included with lyrics of both bands and translation in english for Homomilitia's texts . Released by Malarie Records, 1994
Tracklist:
Homomilitia side:
1. Ziema
2. Multinationals

Forca Macabra side:
3.
Eu nao preciso do sistema
4. Alma sofredora
5. Sofrer demais
