Official uploaded from Producer, Nimirndhu Nil is a Tamil action film written and directed by Samuthirakani featuring Jayam Ravi and Amala Paul in the lead roles. It was produced by KS Sreenivasan's Vaasan Visual Ventures.The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar. Ravi played a revolutionist for a social cause.
Aravindan Sivasamy (Jayam Ravi) is a 26-year-old youth who was brought up in an ashram run by a Harichandra (Nassar). The atmosphere that he grew, taught him high moral values, disciplines, dignity, devotion etc. But when he comes out of the place, his belief and learning will be questioned by the cancerous system. It unsettles him and make him fight against the immoral cultures of the society. He decides to take on corrupt bureaucrats and his friend Ramachandran (Soori), a lawyer Raja Chandrapandian(Subbu Panchu) and journalist Gopinath (C. Gopinath) along with his girlfriend Poomaari(Amala Paul) join him in his mission to fight against the corruption.

The story opens with a couple with twins sitting in a train. However, a thief snatches one of the sons, and after stealing the jewellery of the son, leaves the baby. However, the baby is found by a childless couple in a village. The couple hail from a large and powerful family, and they raise him as their son without telling him the truth. Thus, the twins grow up in different environment. The one living with the parents (Vasudevan a.k.a. Vasu) grows up in Chennai to become an officer in a private investigative agency. The other son, Vetrivel a.k.a. Vel grows up in Dindukkal and becomes a rustic young man.
Vasu manages to charm a journalist, Swathi (Asin), through his professional ethics. Their courtship occurs through a series of events where she initially mistakes him for a drug addict. Meanwhile, Vel is engaged in the bloody tussle with Sakara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani), who has deep rooted enmity against the family. Sakara Pandi had killed Vel's adopted parents, which enrages Vel. Vasu is filled with smiles, while Vel lives with sickles and dangerous duels.
Vasu's mother (Saranya) cannot forget her lost son. She is longing to bring him back home. However, all her efforts to search for him are in vain. The family with whom Vel lives love him a lot. Everyone, especially the grandmother (Lakshmi), are emotionally dependent on him and she is always scared that someone will come looking for him and take him away.
One day, while filming a documentary in Dindukkal, Swathi sees Vel in a gang fight. She immediately informs Vasu. Vasu goes to the village and meets his brother. The family refuses to send Vel back with him. Vasu, understanding their unadulterated affection towards Vel, agrees to give up his claim. He stays with them for a couple of days and realises that the family really loves Vel and cannot live without him.
However, while at the train station, Vasu has one request. He wants Vel to go to Chennai pretending to be him and live with his mother. Vasu, in turn, would behave as Vel in the village. Vel accepts the offer.
Vasu continues Vel's struggle against the powerful Sakara Pandi, but with a different approach. Vasu uses his brain and investigating network instead of muscle power. The rules of the game change, and Sakara Pandi finds himself cornered. Vasu eventually overthrows Sakara Pandi, and the family is happy.
Vasu's parents find out that their long-lost son is well. Despite initial attempts to bring him back, they finally relent after seeing the grandmother cry for her grandson. They understand the pain of losing a child, and do not want anyone else to go through the same pain.

Padayappa is an engineer who returns to his village from Chennai to attend his sister's wedding. His sister is engaged to their maternal uncle's son Suryaprakash. During his stay, he comes across Vasundhara, and falls in love with her. However, shyness and fear of Neelambari, her landlady, prevents Vasundhara from initially expressing her feelings. In addition, Neelambari is Suryaprakash's spoiled sister, who is madly in love with Padayappa.
Unexpectedly, Padayappa's father's foster brother demands a share in the family property. Padayappa's father, the chieftain of the village, refuses to divide the property and instead gives the entire property to his foster brother. This forces Padayappa's family to leave their home. Unable to bear this shock, Padayappa's father dies. Suryaprakash then cancels his wedding with Padayappa's sister and marries the daughter of Padayappa's father's foster brother, who now owns the property of Padayappa's father.
Meanwhile, Padayappa discovers that a hill on his property is solid granite, which allows him to start a granite business, from which he becomes rich. He uses the money to help the poor in his village, and provide them jobs. As his business flourishes, his family is able to once again settle down. Padayappa assumes his father's position as the village chieftain, and his sister gets married to one of the engineers who work in his company. When Neelambari learns about Padayappa's love for Vasundhara, she becomes jealous of her, and her parents beg Padayappa's widowed mother to allow Neelambari to marry Padayappa. However, to everyone's surprise, Padayappa's mother embarrasses Padayappa's maternal uncle in front of the entire village when she agrees to a marriage proposal made by Vasundhara's mother, her brother's servant. Unable to bear the humiliation, Padayappa's maternal uncle commits suicide. When Neelambari tries to kill Vasundhara by letting a bull loose on her, Padayappa saves her, after which the two marry. After the wedding, Neelambari locks herself in a room in Suryaprakash's house, thinking only about Padayappa for 18 years. In between, Padayappa finds his father's foster brother in trouble and was pulled out by a financier, from whom he had borrowed money on interest keeping the family house, and helps his father's foster brother, who is suffering financially. As a result, Padayappa's father's foster brother becomes indebted to him and seeks Padayappa's pardon for his misdeeds. Padayappa forgives him.
Neelambari plans her revenge on Padayappa, now a father of two daughters. Suryaprakash also has a son, Chandraprakash aka Chandru, who studies at the same college as Padayappa's elder daughter, Anitha. Neelambari advises Chandru to make Anitha fall in love with him. At the same time, Padayappa plans to get Anitha married to his sister's son. Neelambari, having made Chandru pretend to fall in love with Anitha, plans to humiliate Padayappa by making Anitha say that she does not wish to marry a groom of her parents' choice and that she is in love with someone else. At the marriage ceremony, after Anitha does what Neelambari told her to do, Padayappa makes an oath to unite Anitha with her lover by the next Muhurta day, or commit suicide. Padayappa discovers that Chandru really did fall in love with Anitha even though he was only initially pretending to do so on Neelambari's advise. When Padayappa takes Chandru and Anitha to the temple to get married, Neelambari and Suryaprakash give chase to stop them. Suryaprakash gets killed in a car accident during the chase.
Armed with a gun, Neelambari reaches the temple where Chandru and Anitha are married. In anger, she tries to kill Padayappa. However, Padayappa saves her life when he prevents a bull from attacking her, while at the same time dodging the bullets she fires at him. Rather than live with the humiliation of knowing she was unsuccessful in avenging her father's death, as well as having her life saved by her enemy, Neelambari commits suicide, promising to take revenge on Padayappa in her next birth. Padayappa prays for her soul to be at peace and eventually attain salvation.

Mudhalvan (English: Chief Minister) is a Tamil political thriller film co-written, directed and co-produced by S. Shankar. The film features Arjun, Manisha Koirala and Raghuvaran in the lead roles with Manivannan, Vijayakumar and Hanifa portraying other significant roles. The film featured an award-winning soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by K. V. Anand and dialogues by Sujatha.[2]
The film revolves around an ambitious TV journalist, Pughazhendi, who interviews the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Pughazhendi asks the tough questions, the Minister starts trembling and asks him to put his money where his mike is, and become the CM for a day. After using up a few lifelines mentally, he agrees and does such a great job on his first day, that the voters eventually elect him to be their permanent leader. The subsequent unpopularity and jealousy that the Chief Minister goes through results in him taking revenge on Pugazhendi, and how he is stopped forms the crux of the story.
Upon release on November 7, 1999, as one among Deepavali releases, the film went on to receive positive reviews from film critics and consequently became a large success commercially, winning awards on a regional scale. The film was then dubbed and released in Telugu as Oke Okkadu and later remade in Hindi as Nayak starring Anil Kapoor

The movie opens to a school where a boy recites before the school. Another boy is seen running to school as he is late. The teacher punishes him comparing to the boy who recited earlier, who is his younger half brother. Enmity grows in the older boy as he is always compared to this younger brother. The younger brother burns the photo of the father of the older one as he was the reason for his defeat in the school's kabadi match. In retaliation, the older brother throws the younger one into a well. Watching him get drowned in the well, the older brother runs away from the village.
The movie then opens to Mumbai, few years after the incident. Ramana is an underworld don doing smuggling business with the help of local police and political support. He tries to kill Govardhan who is a rival to Ramana but he fails. Arjun(Jiva) tries to see him for many days but is not able to see him. Finally with the help of Delhi he manages to see him and tells him about his life-story. Arjun is a boxer and he accidentally meets Anjana while going to a boxing selection match. He could not attend the match because he spoils the miniature Anjana was carrying for her interview the same day. He helps her out and in turn Anjana travels to Kerala to meet the person in charge of the boxing selection match so that Arjun can get a second chance. However, it turns that Arjun has come with her to Kerala to express his love for her which she does not reciprocate. Finally, she agrees on the condition if her father agrees. When Arjun meets Anjana's father, he is accidentally shot by Ramana when he tries to kill Govardhan. Anjana proposes a deal to Arjun that if he make Ramana surrender to the police, she will marry him and Arjun has come to Ramana to make him surrender. But Ramana's gang thrash Arjun and throw him out.

In its modern era, Tamil films from Chennai have been distributed to various overseas theaters in Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Malaysia, Japan, Oceania, the Middle East, Western Europe, and North America. The industry also inspired independent filmmaking in Tamil diaspora populations in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Western Hemisphere.

Mudhalvan (English: Chief Minister) is a Tamil political thriller film co-written, directed and co-produced by S. Shankar. The film featured an award-winning soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by K. V. Anand and dialogues by Sujatha.[2] The film revolves around an ambitious TV journalist, Pughazhendi, who interviews the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Pughazhendi asks the tough questions, the Minister starts trembling and asks him to put his money where his mike is, and become the CM for a day. After using up a few lifelines mentally, he agrees and does such a great job on his first day, that the voters eventually elect him to be their permanent leader. The subsequent unpopularity and jealousy that the Chief Minister goes through results in him taking revenge on Pugazhendi, and how he is stopped forms the crux of the story. Upon release on November 7, 1999, as one among Deepavali releases, the film went on to receive positive reviews from film critics and consequently became a large success commercially, winning awards on a regional scale. The teacher punishes him comparing to the boy who recited earlier, who is his younger half brother. Enmity grows in the older boy as he is always compared to this younger brother. The younger brother burns the photo of the father of the older one as he was the reason for his defeat in the school's kabadi match. In retaliation, the older brother throws the younger one into a well. Watching him get drowned in the well, the older brother runs away from the village. The movie then opens to Mumbai, few years after the incident. Ramana is an underworld don doing smuggling business with the help of local police and political support. He tries to kill Govardhan who is a rival to Ramana but he fails. Arjun(Jiva) tries to see him for many days but is not able to see him. Finally with the help of Delhi he manages to see him and tells him about his life-story. Arjun is a boxer and he accidentally meets Anjana while going to a boxing selection match. He could not attend the match because he spoils the miniature Anjana was carrying for her interview the same day. He helps her out and in turn Anjana travels to Kerala to meet the person in charge of the boxing selection match so that Arjun can get a second chance. However, it turns that Arjun has come with her to Kerala to express his love for her which she does not reciprocate. Finally, she agrees on the condition if her father agrees. When Arjun meets Anjana's father, he is accidentally shot by Ramana when he tries to kill Govardhan. Anjana proposes a deal to Arjun that if he make Ramana surrender to the police, she will marry him and Arjun has come to Ramana to make him surrender. But Ramana's gang thrash Arjun and throw him out. -

The story opens with a couple with twins sitting in a train. However, a thief snatches one of the sons, and after stealing the jewellery of the son, leaves the baby. However, the baby is found by a childless couple in a village. The couple hail from a large and powerful family, and they raise him as their son without telling him the truth. Thus, the twins grow up in different environment. The one living with the parents (Vasudevan a.k.a. Vasu) grows up in Chennai to become an officer in a private investigative agency. The other son, Vetrivel a.k.a. Vel grows up in Dindukkal and becomes a rustic young man.
Vasu manages to charm a journalist, Swathi (Asin), through his professional ethics. Their courtship occurs through a series of events where she initially mistakes him for a drug addict. Meanwhile, Vel is engaged in the bloody tussle with Sakara Pandi (Kalabhavan Mani), who has deep rooted enmity against the family. Sakara Pandi had killed Vel's adopted parents, which enrages Vel. Vasu is filled with smiles, while Vel lives with sickles and dangerous duels.
Vasu's mother (Saranya) cannot forget her lost son. She is longing to bring him back home. However, all her efforts to search for him are in vain. The family with whom Vel lives love him a lot. Everyone, especially the grandmother (Lakshmi), are emotionally dependent on him and she is always scared that someone will come looking for him and take him away.
One day, while filming a documentary in Dindukkal, Swathi sees Vel in a gang fight. She immediately informs Vasu. Vasu goes to the village and meets his brother. The family refuses to send Vel back with him. Vasu, understanding their unadulterated affection towards Vel, agrees to give up his claim. He stays with them for a couple of days and realises that the family really loves Vel and cannot live without him.
However, while at the train station, Vasu has one request. He wants Vel to go to Chennai pretending to be him and live with his mother. Vasu, in turn, would behave as Vel in the village. Vel accepts the offer.
Vasu continues Vel's struggle against the powerful Sakara Pandi, but with a different approach. Vasu uses his brain and investigating network instead of muscle power. The rules of the game change, and Sakara Pandi finds himself cornered. Vasu eventually overthrows Sakara Pandi, and the family is happy.
Vasu's parents find out that their long-lost son is well. Despite initial attempts to bring him back, they finally relent after seeing the grandmother cry for her grandson. They understand the pain of losing a child, and do not want anyone else to go through the same pain.

Padayappa is an engineer who returns to his village from Chennai to attend his sister's wedding. His sister is engaged to their maternal uncle's son Suryaprakash. During his stay, he comes across Vasundhara, and falls in love with her. However, shyness and fear of Neelambari, her landlady, prevents Vasundhara from initially expressing her feelings. In addition, Neelambari is Suryaprakash's spoiled sister, who is madly in love with Padayappa.
Unexpectedly, Padayappa's father's foster brother demands a share in the family property. Padayappa's father, the chieftain of the village, refuses to divide the property and instead gives the entire property to his foster brother. This forces Padayappa's family to leave their home. Unable to bear this shock, Padayappa's father dies. Suryaprakash then cancels his wedding with Padayappa's sister and marries the daughter of Padayappa's father's foster brother, who now owns the property of Padayappa's father.
Meanwhile, Padayappa discovers that a hill on his property is solid granite, which allows him to start a granite business, from which he becomes rich. He uses the money to help the poor in his village, and provide them jobs. As his business flourishes, his family is able to once again settle down. Padayappa assumes his father's position as the village chieftain, and his sister gets married to one of the engineers who work in his company. When Neelambari learns about Padayappa's love for Vasundhara, she becomes jealous of her, and her parents beg Padayappa's widowed mother to allow Neelambari to marry Padayappa. However, to everyone's surprise, Padayappa's mother embarrasses Padayappa's maternal uncle in front of the entire village when she agrees to a marriage proposal made by Vasundhara's mother, her brother's servant. Unable to bear the humiliation, Padayappa's maternal uncle commits suicide. When Neelambari tries to kill Vasundhara by letting a bull loose on her, Padayappa saves her, after which the two marry. After the wedding, Neelambari locks herself in a room in Suryaprakash's house, thinking only about Padayappa for 18 years. In between, Padayappa finds his father's foster brother in trouble and was pulled out by a financier, from whom he had borrowed money on interest keeping the family house, and helps his father's foster brother, who is suffering financially. As a result, Padayappa's father's foster brother becomes indebted to him and seeks Padayappa's pardon for his misdeeds. Padayappa forgives him.
Neelambari plans her revenge on Padayappa, now a father of two daughters. Suryaprakash also has a son, Chandraprakash aka Chandru, who studies at the same college as Padayappa's elder daughter, Anitha. Neelambari advises Chandru to make Anitha fall in love with him. At the same time, Padayappa plans to get Anitha married to his sister's son. Neelambari, having made Chandru pretend to fall in love with Anitha, plans to humiliate Padayappa by making Anitha say that she does not wish to marry a groom of her parents' choice and that she is in love with someone else. At the marriage ceremony, after Anitha does what Neelambari told her to do, Padayappa makes an oath to unite Anitha with her lover by the next Muhurta day, or commit suicide. Padayappa discovers that Chandru really did fall in love with Anitha even though he was only initially pretending to do so on Neelambari's advise. When Padayappa takes Chandru and Anitha to the temple to get married, Neelambari and Suryaprakash give chase to stop them. Suryaprakash gets killed in a car accident during the chase.
Armed with a gun, Neelambari reaches the temple where Chandru and Anitha are married. In anger, she tries to kill Padayappa. However, Padayappa saves her life when he prevents a bull from attacking her, while at the same time dodging the bullets she fires at him. Rather than live with the humiliation of knowing she was unsuccessful in avenging her father's death, as well as having her life saved by her enemy, Neelambari commits suicide, promising to take revenge on Padayappa in her next birth. Padayappa prays for her soul to be at peace and eventually attain salvation.

Mudhalvan (English: Chief Minister) is a Tamil political thriller film co-written, directed and co-produced by S. Shankar. The film features Arjun, Manisha Koirala and Raghuvaran in the lead roles with Manivannan, Vijayakumar and Hanifa portraying other significant roles. The film featured an award-winning soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by K. V. Anand and dialogues by Sujatha.[2]
The film revolves around an ambitious TV journalist, Pughazhendi, who interviews the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Pughazhendi asks the tough questions, the Minister starts trembling and asks him to put his money where his mike is, and become the CM for a day. After using up a few lifelines mentally, he agrees and does such a great job on his first day, that the voters eventually elect him to be their permanent leader. The subsequent unpopularity and jealousy that the Chief Minister goes through results in him taking revenge on Pugazhendi, and how he is stopped forms the crux of the story.
Upon release on November 7, 1999, as one among Deepavali releases, the film went on to receive positive reviews from film critics and consequently became a large success commercially, winning awards on a regional scale. The film was then dubbed and released in Telugu as Oke Okkadu and later remade in Hindi as Nayak starring Anil Kapoor

The movie opens to a school where a boy recites before the school. Another boy is seen running to school as he is late. The teacher punishes him comparing to the boy who recited earlier, who is his younger half brother. Enmity grows in the older boy as he is always compared to this younger brother. The younger brother burns the photo of the father of the older one as he was the reason for his defeat in the school's kabadi match. In retaliation, the older brother throws the younger one into a well. Watching him get drowned in the well, the older brother runs away from the village.
The movie then opens to Mumbai, few years after the incident. Ramana is an underworld don doing smuggling business with the help of local police and political support. He tries to kill Govardhan who is a rival to Ramana but he fails. Arjun(Jiva) tries to see him for many days but is not able to see him. Finally with the help of Delhi he manages to see him and tells him about his life-story. Arjun is a boxer and he accidentally meets Anjana while going to a boxing selection match. He could not attend the match because he spoils the miniature Anjana was carrying for her interview the same day. He helps her out and in turn Anjana travels to Kerala to meet the person in charge of the boxing selection match so that Arjun can get a second chance. However, it turns that Arjun has come with her to Kerala to express his love for her which she does not reciprocate. Finally, she agrees on the condition if her father agrees. When Arjun meets Anjana's father, he is accidentally shot by Ramana when he tries to kill Govardhan. Anjana proposes a deal to Arjun that if he make Ramana surrender to the police, she will marry him and Arjun has come to Ramana to make him surrender. But Ramana's gang thrash Arjun and throw him out.

Annamalai is a 1992 Tamil film directed by Suresh Krishna and produced by Rajam Balachander and Pushpa Kandasamy under Kavithalaya Productions. A remake of 1987 the Hindi film Khudgarz, the film stars Rajinikanth, Kushboo and Sarath Babu in the lead roles with Radha Ravi, Nizhalgal Ravi and Manorama playing supporting roles. The film revolves around a poor milkman who befriends the son of the businessman. The latter's father who hates their friendship drives a wedge between them by bulldozing the house. Annamalai challenges his friend that he will become a successful businessman. Rest of the film shows whether they are united or not.
The production began with Vasanth being selected as director who later opted out due to personal reasons. Suresh Krishna replaced him to direct thus marked his first collaboration with Rajinikanth. Principal photography of the film began at AVM Studios and the filming held at various places. The score and soundtrack was composed by Deva and lyrics for all songs were written by Vairamuthu. The cinematography was handled by P. S. Prakash and editing was handled by the duo Ganesh Kumar. The dialogues for the film were written by Shanmugasundaram.
Annamalai (Rajinikanth) is a milkman while Ashok (Sarath Babu) is the owner of a five star hotel in Chennai. They both are very close friends from childhood days. But Ashok’s father (Radha Ravi) does not like his son’s friendship with a poor milkman. Annamalai is kind-hearted and is innocent. He falls in love with Subbu (Kushboo). Ashok falls in love with a poor girl Shanthi (Rekha) and Annamalai arranges Ashok and Shanthi’s wedding. This angers Ashok's father as he thinks Shanthi does not have the status to become his daughter in law.
Annamalai encounters a problem with Ekambaram (Vinu Chakravarthy) following which Ekambaram understands Annamalai’s good nature. Annamalai’s small home along with a few cents of empty land is located in prime location and Radharavi pressurizes Ashok to buy that land so that they can construct one more star hotel. Ashok initially hesitates as he does not want to mix business and friendship, but later agrees and asks Annamalai with hesitation. But Annamalai happily accepts and also agrees to give the land for free of cost. Ashok feels proud of Annamalai and informs his father that Annamalai has to be made a shareholder in the new hotel. Ashok's father agrees but decides to cheat Annamalai and gets sign in empty papers.
