Rajkiran

Rajkiran (Tamil: ராஜ்கிரண்) (birth name Mohideen Abdul Khadar) is a film actor, producer and director, who has acted in more than 25 Tamil films.

Early life

Rajkiran was born in Keezhakkarai, Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu.

Film career

Rajkiran began by producing two Ramarajan starrer films and in one of them he appeared in a brief role. In 1991, he produced and acted in lead role in Kasthuri Raja's debut film, En Rasavin Manasile which had a silver jubilee run. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize and the Cinema Express – Best New Face Award for his performance. He directed, produced and acted in lead role in Aranmanai Kili (1993) and Ellame En Rasathan (1995), which also had silver jubilee runs. In 1996, he acted in Manikkam which was an average grosser at the box-office. The following year,he worked in Pasamulla Pandiyare. The film turned out to be a failure. In the mid of 1998, he acted in Ponnu Velayira Bhoomi and made a guest appearance in Kasthuri Raja's Veera Thalattu. In the end of 1998, he acted in the critically well received Thalaimurai. Following a three-year hiatus, he returned as an actor in Bala's Nandha and in Cheran's Pandavar Bhoomi. Both were critical and commercial successes. He has won the Filmfare Best Tamil Supporting Actor Award for his performance in the film Thavamai Thavamirundhu (2005) and the Tamil Nadu government's Best Actor award for Pandavar Bhoomi (2001)

Ellame En Rasathan

Ellame En Rasathan is a 1995 Tamil drama film directed by Rajkiran. The film features Rajkiran, Sangita and Roopa Sri in lead roles. The film, produced by Rajkiran, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 14 April 1995. The film was a hit at the box-office. The film was remade in Telugu as Soggadi Pellam in 1996.

Plot

Singarasu (Rajkiran) comes to a village with his daughter. Singarasu looks for his wife's murderer and only his daughter witnessed the murderer Mookaiyan (Suriyan). Although, Mookaiyan follows them to kill the witness. The daughter of the village chief (Roopa Sri) falls in love with Singarasu.

In the past, Singarasu was the gram panchayat president : he was a rough and irresponsible man who played rummy, but he was a kind-hearted man. Mookaiyan, a rowdy, killed a newborn girl in the other village. Singarasu clashed with the other village's chief Ayya (Vittal Rao) because Singarasu was against newborn girl killing. To punish him, Singarasu kidnapped his daughter Raani (Sangita). Finally, the village's chief called the police and Mookaiyan was arrested. Then, Raani fell in love with Singarasu and refused to come back home. Singarasu got married with Raani but he still played rummy. Later, Singarasu decided to work hard and he became a respected man by the villagers. Mookaiyan, who was back from the jail, killed Raani.

Yuvan Shankar Raja

Yuvan Shankar Raja (born 31 August 1979) is an Indian singer-songwriter, film score and soundtrack composer, and occasional lyricist from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has predominantly scored music for Tamil films. The youngest son of noted film composer Ilaiyaraaja, he began his musical career in 1996, at age 16, when he composed the film score for Aravindhan. After initial struggle, he made his big break with the Thulluvadho Ilamai soundtrack (2001), and evolved as one of Tamil cinema's most sought-after composers by the mid-2000s.

Within a span of 15 years, Yuvan Shankar Raja has worked on over 100 films.
