It displays the applications of AUVs (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) technology in the ARGOMARINE project (Automatic Oil Spill Recognition and Geopositioning integrated in a Marine Monitoring Network). An enose-hosting underwater robot able to sniff the presence of oil spills within Marine Protected Areas. The ARGOMARINE project (www.argomarine.eu) is supported by the EU funding within the 7th Framework Programme and coordinated by the Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago Toscano (National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago), Italy.

Rai — Radiotelevisione italiana S.p.A. (pronounced [ˈrai ˌradjoteleviˈzjoːne itaˈljaːna]; commercially styled Rai; known until 1954 as Radio Audizioni Italiane) is Italy's national public broadcasting company, owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
RAI operates many DVB and Sat television channels and radio stations, broadcasting via digital terrestrial transmission (15 television and 7 radio channels nationwide) and from several satellite platforms. It is the biggest television broadcaster in Italy and competes with Mediaset, Sky Italia, and other minor television and radio networks. RAI has a relatively high television audience share of 33.8%.
RAI's broadcasts are also received in neighboring countries, including Albania, Croatia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, San Marino, Slovenia, Vatican City and southern Switzerland, and elsewhere on cable and satellite.
Half of RAI's revenues come from broadcast receiving licence fees, the rest from the sale of advertising time.
In 1950, RAI became one of the 23 founding broadcasting organizations of the European Broadcasting Union.

Plot: Off the coast of Goa, India, some fishermen find a body of a battered young man, and they take him to the nearest medical facility run by Dr. Joe D'Costa. Plot: Renukadevi is widowed and the mother of a son named Ram. Her husband had indulged in all possible vices, and passed away unexpectedly. Her father-in-law, Rai, does not want Ram to repeat his father's mistakes, and teaches him all the positive values of the Hindu religion, in particular the contents of the Holy Book "Geeta". But Ram is convinced that marriage is not for him. Renuka is overjoyed when her estranged brother, Gopinath, and his son, Rakesh, return from abroad. With their help she hopes to get Ram marries with Aarti. Then things get complicated when Rakesh falls in love with Aarti. Ram leaves town to attend to business, and circumstances propel Renuka to will her entire estate to Rakesh and change his name to Bharat, with the blessings of a renowned saint named Ishwar Baba. Chiang Rai (เมืองเชียงราย) is a city in northern Thailand that I’ve always wanted to visit, and finally I had a chance to go. Keep watching this video for all the details. From Bangkok, I first bought a plane ticket with Bangkok Airways - it was also my first time to fly with Bangkok Airways, though I had heard good things about them before. Our flight was in the morning so we took a taxi in Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi International Airport to catch our flight. Chiang Rai (เมืองเชียงราย) is a city in northern Thailand that I’ve always wanted to visit, and finally I had a chance to go. Keep watching this video for all the details.
From Bangkok, I first bought a plane ticket with Bangkok Airways - it was also my first time to fly with Bangkok Airways, though I had heard good things about them before. Our flight was in the morning so we took a taxi in Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi International Airport to catch our flight. After we checked it, we headed to our gate, and were greeted by a nice little display of snacks and coffee and tea - not bad for just a one hour flight that cost less than $50! After eating some banana chips and a few cheese sandwiches, our flight to Chiang Rai was ready to board. On the flight Bangkok Airways served us even more food. It was a nice flight, and it took just one hour to fly from Bangkok to Chiang Rai.
After landing in Chiang Rai, we got our bag, and then took a taxi into town. Ying and had booked a hotel called Amarin Resort, as I needed a nice place to get some work done, and we were looking for a place to get some nice relaxation as well. I immediately loved the resort we were staying at - it was nice and extremely quiet, the grounds were nice and green, and our room was quite big in size and very comfortable. After checking into our hotel and relaxing for a bit, we then headed out to eat lunch at a famous northern Thai restaurant, which was actually located just a 5 minute walk from our hotel, known as Lu Lam. We ordered a number of different Thai dishes, including one of my favorite northern Thai foods, lab khua, minced pork with lots of spices. The entire meal was quite wonderful, and it was a delicious first meal in Chiang Rai. I also loved that the restaurant was located right along the river, offering a lovely and peaceful atmosphere.
During the summer, the sun in Chiang Rai is intensely hot, especially in the middle of the day. So after lunch, we decided to head back to the hotel and I needed to get some work done. I wrote some blogs before we headed out again in the afternoon at about 4 pm when the sun was toned down quite a bit. We headed into Chiang Rai town, and our first stop was to walk around the Chiang Rai clock tower, an incredibly intricate and ornate golden clock tower, sort of the landmark of downtown Chiang Rai city. We then continued walking, and soon found ourselves in the evening central market, a vibrant display of all things northern Thai food. I wanted to actually eat everything I saw, but I was actually still quite full from the delicious lunch we had eaten not too long before. I ended up buying some avocados and some passion fruit, two of my favorite natural things.
After walking around the local food market, we then headed over to check out the Chiang Rai night bazaar. It turned out to be a little on the touristy side, not so much my style, but it could be a good place to go if you travel to Chiang Rai and are looking to buy some souvenir. There’s a food court at the Chiang Rai night bazaar, so we stopped there for a quick and light bite to eat. I ordered a dish called jim jum, which is basically the Thai street food version of a hot pot. We got a pot of soup boiling in a clay pot, accompanied by a basket of vegetables, an egg, and some chicken, and then we just boiled everything together. It wasn’t the best meal of my life, it was alright, but I just wanted to eat something for dinner that wasn’t too heavy or meaty - as I had eaten quite a huge lunch!
My first day traveling from Bangkok to Chiang Rai was a wonderful day. I immediately fell in love with Chiang Rai, how peaceful it is, and I really love the northern Thai culture and the food.

The next location we visit is the hill tribe villages about 25 minutes drive north of Chiang Rai. Here you will visit five different hill tribes, the most famous tribe is the Karen long-neck hill tribe. You will hear music, dance and interact with the tribes. You can also buy souvenirs for friends and family back home.
And lastly we visit the Saturday Night Walking Street. It's a night bazaar that is way bigger then the night bazaar and has over a hundred different foods stalls. I recommend coming early and seeing all the food before making a final decision on what to eat. The food was out of this world and I recommend you try northern Thailand's most popular dish Khao Soi. It's a mild coconut based curry served over soft egg noodles and topped and topped with crisp egg noodles. Its delicious!

Chiang Rai is the northernmost province of Thailand. The province is rich in tourism resources in terms of natural attractions and antiquities, evidence of its past civilisation. It is also home to various hilltribes who follow fascinating ways of life. Chiang Rai is also a tourism gateway into Myanmar and Laos.
Visitors to Chiang Rai can expect to see some splendid mountain and valley views, while being blessed with excellent weather which is much cooler than in the central plains.
Populations have dwelled in Chiang Rai since the 7th century and it became the center of the Lanna Thai Kingdom during the 13th century. The region, rich in natural resources and textiles, was occupied by the Burmese until 1786. Chiang Rai became a province in 1910, after being part of the kingdom of Lanna for centuries. After Lanna was incorporated into Thailand, it stayed an autonomous region and thus the Chiang Rai area was administered from Chiang Mai.
Chiang Rai province's Golden Triangle bordering Laos and Burma was once the hub of opium production which had much influence on cultural practices and lifestyles. Until this day, entire clans live together in bamboo houses and each village has its own individual character.
Many visitors choose to spend some of their time in Chiang Rai visiting fascinating hill tribes. It is possible to stay overnight with the villagers. Solo travellers not going with a guide are advised to stay with the village headmen; a small donation is welcome.
Chiang Rai City is an excellent base for exploring the region. It is essentially a service city for the surrounding province. The greater area has a relatively small population of 200,000 people, but also has a respected university and other civic facilities.

To start the Adventure Travel and Responsible Tourism Conference I was hosted by PATA and the TAT on a complimentary tour. I chose a tour of Baan Lorcha. The sustainable tourism project is an Akha Village overseen by PDA (the Thai non-profit organization most well known for Cabbages and Condoms Restaurant). It’s called the Living Museum, but I’m not sure many people really know what the term means and since it’s more than an hour from Chiang Rai here’s a video to introduce the project to you.
Cost 60 baht ($2) to get a ticket.
In the video you will see:
Akha Village Gate (said to repel bad spirits)
Traditional Akha Swings
Akha Blacksmiths, Weaving, Clothing and Music
Afterwards we had a lame lunch buffet and went to a few lookout point that allow you to see a view of the Golden Triangle Area.
