Everyday Is Like Sunday" is the third track of Morrissey's debut solo album, Viva Hate, released on 14 March 1988 by HMV Records.and the second single to be released by the artist.
It made number nine in the UK Singles Chart and remains one of his best-known songs.
"Everyday Is Like Sunday," as well as the single's B-sides "Disappointed" and "Will Never Marry," feature on the compilation album Bona Drag.
Morrissey has been quoted as saying that there is 'something strangely depressing about a seaside town out-of-season'.
The lyrics are inspired by Nevil Shute's novel On the Beach, about a group of people waiting for nuclear devastation in Melbourne, a beachside city in Australia.
Also, according to Morrissey, the song was originally inspired after visiting the Welsh sea-side resort of Borth.
The track has been covered by a number of other bands, including:
The Pretenders (on the Original Motion Picture soundtrack Boys on the Side),
10,000 Maniacs (on their Candy Everybody Wants EP),
the Armageddon Dildos (on their "Come Armageddon" maxi-single),
Estonian 1990s pop group Mr. Lawrence,
Mikel Erentxun (on his album Acrobatas).
Colin Meloy of The Decemberists also covers the track on his solo album Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey.
Dave Couse (former lead singer of A House) has performed this live with his later band The Impossible,
alternative rock band Fate or Trouble who released the song as their debut single.
A mostly instrumental version (containing only the title lyric) was used in NFL Network's "When all you want is football" television ad campaign.
The single was re-issued on 27 September 2010, on CD and two 7"s, including the unreleased "November the Second"; an alternative mix of "November Spawned a Monster."
This re-issue debuted at number 42 on the UK Singles Chart. It coincides with the 20th anniversary re-issue of his 1990 compilation, Bona Drag.
Reviews
Although Morrissey's debut "Suedehead" had received a positive review from the English music magazine NME, the follow-up received a cooler reaction.
Alluding to the controversy that had arisen over Morrissey's "Bengali in Platforms", Reviewer Steven Wells warned the singer to not "attract a Sham Army style of following and end up like Jimmy Pursey" and to "Think on, lad."
However praise for the single came in Q magazine in September 1992 when Chrissie Hynde (who would later record her own version of the song) said that the "lyric to Everyday Is Like Sunday is, to me, a masterful piece of prose" and Siobhan Fahey described it as her "all-time top song".

Despite rumours, the music video did not feature actress Drew Barrymore as a young fan, but rather Lucette Henderson.
The seaside town used as the location was Southend-on-Sea.

Mr. Lawrence
Douglas Lawrence Osowski (born January 1, 1969), better known as Mr. Lawrence and sometimes credited as Doug Lawrence, is an American voice actor, writer, comedian, and animator, best known for his work as a writer and actor for the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants and Rocko's Modern Life.
Life and career
Lawrence was born in East Brunswick, New Jersey. He is known for his work on the animated TV series SpongeBob SquarePants, on which he has long-running-roles as Sheldon Plankton, Larry the Lobster, Elaine and various other characters including Artist at Sea.
He was the voice of Edward T. Platypus, Nurse Leslie, Dave, and Ping-Pong on Camp Lazlo. Lawrence also performed the voice of Filburt in Rocko's Modern Life and is recently the voice of the Announcer and Manant in The Aquabats! Super Show!. Lawrence is a standup comedian, cartoonist, writer-director, animator and producer on the television series Johnny Talk. He worked on The Ren and Stimpy Show in its second season as a layout assistant. Apart from his voice work he is a writer on SpongeBob SquarePants and worked as a writer on Rocko's Modern Life and The Twisted Whiskers Show. He is currently a writer and story editor on Mighty Magiswords, Cartoon Network's first original online series.

Everyday Is Like Sunday" is the third track of Morrissey's debut solo album, Viva Hate, released on 14 March 1988 by HMV Records.and the second single to be released by the artist.
It made number nine in the UK Singles Chart and remains one of his best-known songs.
"Everyday Is Like Sunday," as well as the single's B-sides "Disappointed" and "Will Never Marry," feature on the compilation album Bona Drag.
Morrissey has been quoted as saying that there is 'something strangely depressing about a seaside town out-of-season'.
The lyrics are inspired by Nevil Shute's novel On the Beach, about a group of people waiting for nuclear devastation in Melbourne, a beachside city in Australia.
Also, according to Morrissey, the song was originally inspired after visiting the Welsh sea-side resort of Borth.
The track has been covered by a number of other bands, including:
The Pretenders (on the Original Motion Picture soundtrack Boys on the Side),
10,000 Maniacs (on their Candy Everybody Wants EP),

According to the criminal complaint, the driver said she needed to get something out of her vehicle before it was towed. She allegedly said, “I’m never going to get my car back.” She went back into the car through the passenger side and after five minutes she had not exited the vehicle. All of a sudden, the driver puts the car in reverse, slams into the squad car and speeds off. The jolt caused one of the deputies to fall and roll into oncoming traffic, while another grabbed and held on to the driver's side door. Meanwhile, the woman’s mother was knocked into the concrete wall, unable to get up from the force.
The situation was immediately radioed in to dispatch.

A Milwaukee woman has been charged with five felony counts after allegedly she slammed into a squad car and sped off. Kevina Freeman was charged with two counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety, two counts of vehicle operator fleeing traffic officer resulting in bodily harm, and one count of vehicle operator fleeing traffic officer causing damage to property. The incident occurred on May 15 when two Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies stopped a car for speeding on I-43 near Loomis Road. The driver's license was suspended so deputies called a tow truck. Dash cam video showed the passenger out of the car with deputies nearby.
According to the criminal complaint, the driver said she needed to get something out of her vehicle before it was towed. She allegedly said, “I’m never going to get my car back.” She went back into the car through the passenger side and after five minutes she had not exited the vehicle. All of a sudden, the driver puts the car in reverse, slams into the squad car and speeds off. The jolt caused one of the deputies to fall and roll into oncoming traffic, while another grabbed and held on to the driver's side door. Meanwhile, the woman’s mother was knocked into the concrete wall, unable to get up from the force.
The situation was immediately radioed in to dispatch.

Two suspects are in custody after a high-speed chase ended with a crash around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday near the McDonald's on Ridge Road at Highland Avenue, Hamilton County Sheriff's dispatchers say. Kimberly Overstreet, 26, of Cincinnati, and Kenneth Maldonado, 27, of Union Township (Clermont County) were arrested once the chase ended, according to Sgt. Mike Robison. Around 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, Hamilton dispatchers were told a stolen Honda Civic occupied by the two suspects was en route to an address in Madeira. Officers staked out the residence and attempted to stop the car at the intersection of East Galbraith Road and Montgomery Road. With Overstreet driving the car, they fled as Madeira Police and sheriff's deputies followed in close pursuit.
Police followed the car, topping out at speeds of 100 mph, from Galbraith Road down Montgomery Road before it crashed in a parking lot off Ridge Road. Overstreet faces multiple charges, including theft, felony fleeing and eluding and aggravated vehicular assault for hitting a Blue Ash officer's car. Officers say she may also be connected to a crime in the Columbus area. Police reports state Maldonado is currently on probation in Wood County, Ohio, for his part in an incident in the Toledo suburb of Perrysburg, which Robison said resulted in the death of one of his two associates in an officer-involved shooting in December 2015. Maldonado was transported to UC Medical Center for minor injuries before being turned over to Union Township for charges related to the theft of the vehicle.
Josh Collier says a favor for a family member ultimately led to a car theft after his fiancee's stepsister and neighbor took off with her car Tuesday morning, setting off the chase. "We tried helping her sister out by letting her staying a night or two with us," Collier said. "At first I thought she might have just taken him to work because he didn't have a ride to work this morning apparently. Then I seen (sic) a bottle of liquor, everything else on the back porch, so I assumed the worst from there."Collier says the stepsister even made demands as Collier and his fiancee's concerns grew.
"From what she told my fiancee on the phone today, she'll tell her where the car is if we gave her the password to the phone and that no one's going to hold her down and she's going to do what she wants. She was trying to prove a point," Collier told WCPO. Hamilton County Sheriff's Office confirms that drugs and alcohol were factors in the chase and crash that ultimately involved agencies from Sycamore Township, Blue Ash, Cincinnati, Silverton and Columbia Township. Investigators are still sorting out the details of possible connections to crimes in Columbus and Cleveland.

A suspect in a stolen flatbed tow truck with a fork lift on it led authorities on a chase in South Florida Tuesday night, police said. According to City of Doral Police, the man stole the flat bed near Northwest 83rd Avenue and 27th Street. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but police say he rear-ended the patrol car and continued onto the Palmetto Expressway southbound.
Police said he crashed into everything from a patrol car to a message board on the highway. "It's very dangerous, it's a very big truck as you can see. And he took off with little regards to life or property," Doral Police Lt. Orlando Sanchez said. "The vehicle struck another vehicle on the 826. Also struck a light pole and a message board sign."
The truck then got on 836 and exited at Northwest 107th Avenue. Officials say here he drove over a median, knocked down a palm tree, and then headed into oncoming traffic. The flatbed finally came to a stop under the overpass where the suspect was taken into custody. "He was a little upset, but he was taken in without any incident," Sanchez said.
Police didn't release the man's identity or say what charges he'll face. As for the light pole he struck during the chase near Northwest 25th Street, police say the wires are down, so they want drivers to be careful in the area.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Tuesday released dash-cam footage showing a trooper crashing into a suspect's pickup during a highway pursuit, resulting in the man's death after he was ejected from the vehicle. The footage shows trooper Jonathan Earls pursuing 44-year-old Alexander Larmon of Sapulpa eastbound on Interstate 40 about 70 miles southwest of Tulsa in the early-morning hours of May 8. The high-speed chase ended near Cromwell when Earls used a "tactical vehicle intervention" on Larmon's pickup, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and roll several times, coming to a rest on its top. Larmon was ejected about 10 feet from the vehicle, and troopers can be seen in the video searching a field covered in thick grass for the man.
Eventually, a trooper who is off-screen is heard saying Larmon's body was found. Toward the end of the video, Earls tells somebody, "There wasn't nothing I could do. He was going to kill someone; he was drunk." An OHP report states Larmon had an odor of alcohol and was not wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred. The report does not indicate the estimated speeds of the pursuit, but a trooper in the video can be heard saying the pickup reached speeds in excess of 100 mph. The OHP has ruled the trooper’s use of force was justified. Law enforcement typically use the TVI maneuver in an attempt to cause a fleeing vehicle to turn sideways and come to a stop.

Police dashcam video shows several police officers being attacked by a suspect in Greenfield. Two officers ended up in the hospital. "Shoot me. Shoot me (expletive)," says the suspect police identify as Byron Vaughns, 21. "I do not need to do this. You need to get down on the ground," says an unidentified Greenfield Police Officer.
That was part of the conversation that occurred when Greenfield Police were called the Hideaway Motel at 5105 South 27th Street on May 29th. Vaughns goes on saying "no" to every request officers make to him. One of the officers then reached for his Taser. "I'm a gangster. Don't play with me folks," says Vaughns. The officer fired the Taser, hitting Vaughns. You can see him break away and get into a struggle with officers.
"He actually hit one of the officers," says Sgt. Matthew Borchardt, Greenfield Police Department. As officers tried to control the suspect you can see one of the officers on the ground. "He hit the pole and was rendered unconscious," says Sgt. Borchardt. Police say that officer suffered a concussion and needed stitches. Another officer who was hit also ended up in the hospital.
Officials say the whole thing started because Vaughns' mother was involved with a domestic situation with another man.
Vaughns then confronted officers when they got to the scene. "In a situation where they were facing a lot of adversity in my opinion they did what they could to try and get the subject to comply," says Sgt. Borchardt. Vaughns is now charged with two felonies. Police say it did not need to escalate to that. "If you aren't involved in the incident try not to get yourself involved," says Sgt. Borchardt. Vaughns is due in court June 13.

An Anchorage man driving a front loader with an attached fork lift ripped the front entrance off a Brown Jug Liquor store in College Village early Thursday morning. He went on to grab some booze from the store and lead police on a low-speed chase through Airport Heights before being captured in a motorhome park on DeBarr Road. Police have identified the man as 38-year-old Joseph Martin. At around 3:20 a.m. police responded to a report that a man in a fork lift had crashed through the window of the Brown Jug located in a strip mall at E Northern Lights Blvd and Lake Otis Parkway. After making off with some alcohol, the driver headed east on Northern Lights, driving the loader at about 15-miles per hour.
Multiple police cars responded. In the audio of a dash cam video, officers are heard trying to figure out how to stop the large piece of heavy machinery. One officer suggests putting down spike strips but another responds that would not work because they would pierce the machine’s thick tires. At another point, they consider using birdshot but decide against it. “It was challenging for us to figure out how to stop this thing,” said APD spokeswoman Jennifer Castro. The man drove through the Airport Heights neighborhood, eventually crossing Bragaw Street and continuing on to an RV park near DeBarr Road. Police ended up lining several patrol cars in a row to block the driver from continuing his journey through the motorhome park.
When the front loader came to a stop, officers approached with weapons drawn and ordered the man out. The driver can be seen jumping out and getting handcuffed on the street. Police say they discovered alcohol bottles were found inside of the loader and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Martin’s breath. He failed field sobriety tests. Police later determined that the front loader had been stolen from a construction site. Martin faces a variety of charges including criminal mischief, failure to stop, theft, burglary, and felony DUI. His bail was set at $30,000 cash-corporate and $50,000 performance. Martin is required to have a third-party custodian.

Seattle police pursued a 23-year-old man who stole a Seattle Fire Department aid car and sped through the city Saturday evening. Officers initially responded after receiving reports of a man who jumped out of a downtown hotel room window and dropped 10 feet to the ground. He soon found an ambulance parked nearby, hopped in and drove off.
Being a city aid car, however, officials could easily track the vehicle and it moved toward North Seattle. Police tried to block the aid car’s path around Sand Point Way but the suspect turned it around, bashing into one patrol car, and sped off again.
“You need to pull over sir. We cannot keep doing this. Somebody’s going to get hurt,” the Seattle police officer says over his loudspeaker.
“We’re not going to let you go … You need to stop and talk to us, OK. This is not going to work,” he said. “Please pull over.”
Finally, the suspect ended the chase around 50th Avenue and 65th Street — he pulled over and turned himself in.
“Put your hands out the window. It’s OK, just put your hands out the window,” the officer instructs the man. “There ya go, step on out.”
Another aid car was called in to treat the man’s injuries that were caused by dropping from the hotel window — he fell out of the ambulance as he exited and was clearly favoring one leg. Police report that the man appeared to be dazed when he was taken into custody. He has been booked into King County Jail with an auto theft charge.
