Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears brought their Southern-fried soul to the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night, performing crowd-raiser "Sugarfoot" from their full-length debut Tell 'Em What Your Name Is!.
Every time I see this band perform anywhere, regardless of wherever they may be, the crowd seems inevitably pleased with their raucous, sexy rhythm and blues. Still touring, you can spot the band at next month's Austin City Limits.

Wednesday Bears: Yo La Tengo on La Blogotheque
New Jersey alternative hall of famer's Yo La Tengo made their first performance on everyone's favorite music video website La Blogotheque yesterday, performing slow acoustic melody's from their recently released Popular Songs LP.
The clearly aging indie icons play their slow songs in front of likely confused French children playing in a park and in a damp alley, while throwing rousing renditions of "Sugarcube," stirring the sparkling noise of acoustics through the hollow echoes of a garage, and the new Beck-esque "Periodically Double or Triple" down the cobble-stone streets of Paris.
Despite their age and reclusive habits, the band still stands as one of the most pure eclectic music machine's ever. The trio will perform at New York's Roseland Ballroom September 25 with Atlanta garage-punk heroes the Black Lips before heading out on their Fall world tour.

Tuesday Bears: New Flaming Lips Video: I Can Be a Frog
Supporting the Flaming Lips upcoming 12th studio album, Embryonic, the Oklahoma natives have performed stints at Pitchfork Music Festival, ATP, and the Colbert Report before releasing the first video for the talk-along song "I Can Be a Frog." The song is a slow, quiet, and kind of odd choice to be put in video format, but still presents its quirky fun.
For those who may not recognize, that's Karen O's voice playing the part of sound effects as the brunette model (in a setting resembling Roxy Music's Country Music album cover) acts out each of the animals Wayne Coyne name-checks.

Monday Bears: New Mike Snow Video - Black & Blue
Swedish band Miike Snow, which up until this point I thought was the name of lead singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt, have released the second video from their self-titled full-length debut for their single "Black & Blue."
The video features an old bearded man in the mold of a modern day Davinci constructing visionary musical masterpieces (we'd like to think), motivating him to leave his musical cave to the beauty of the outside world.
The group is currently touring Canada and the Mid-Western U.S., and will eventually hit the Pacific coast before venturing back to Europe, so it should be a significant amount of time before they come back to the East coast.
