New Mazzy Star - California
Seemingly out of nowhere, West coast shoe gaze pop icons Mazzy Star have a new album on the way. It's the first from the duo since 1996's Among My Swan, and is led by the echoed sweetness of "California." The form of the band's first single in a long, long time, conjures the long but not forgotten synergy of the group, with the desert hazy vocals of Hope Sandoval in its purest, dreamlike form.
Seasons Of Your Day is set for release September 24 on the band's own Rhymes Of An Hour imprint. Stream "California" below.

New Dum Dum Girls video - Coming Down
Easily one of my favorite songs from 2011, Dum Dum Girls' Mazzy Star-esque epic "Coming Down" has been given the video treatment. And if you're watching, you'll notice the vague familiarity with Yoko Ono's "Cut Piece" performance art from 1965. Watch the newer video below, which was shortened from the original version for time.

New Dum Dum Girls - Bedroom Eyes
I'm becoming slightly concerned that the Dum Dum Girls upcoming album Only In Dreams, which is scheduled for release September 27 via Sub Pop, is already one of my favorite albums of 2011. We've already heard the group's Mazzy Star-esque "Coming Down," which has already positioned itself on my annual Top 25 Songs of 2011 list, and today we get "Bedroom Eyes." It's not as sweeping and surprising as the former single, but there's not ignoring the quality put in.
You can listen to "Bedroom Eyes" below, or grab the MP3 over at Pretty Much Amazing.

Hope Sandoval and Generationals
Thanks to My Old Kentucky Blog, two new songs from Hope Sandoval and Generationals have found their way to me.
For those who don't know, Hope Sandoval is the lead singer of Mazzy Starr. The new Sadoval side-project features the efforts of The Warm Inventions, that also includes Colm Ó Cíosóig from My Bloody Valentine on the drums. You can expect the album out September 15.

New Orleans band Generationals new album Con Law is due out July 21 via Park The Van records. Con Law sports the two-piece's single "Angry Charlie," with a video to support.
