    this is why I found Adams' line this week about how "we can't keep traumatizing our kids" particularly galling

    while Eric Adams says NYC schools must stay open, freaked-out high schoolers are taking to Reddit to disagree. this student describes classmates testing positive in the school bathroom and teachers developing symptoms abandoning classes halfway through.

    I think James nails it with this thread. The pandemic is way too complex and fluid for people to have become firmly attached to certain poles in this debate. We need to be nimble and communicative and not view everything as a slippery slope.

    It feels like our Covid policies are constantly fighting the last war. We kept too many schools closed in 2020-2021. Now that we agree that was a mistake, we're insisting all schools try to remain open, even if that means kids aren't getting much of an education for next 2 weeks.
