Election of ISAF Officers

The President and seven Vice-Presidents were elected at the 2012 General Assembly. In accordance with Article 64 at least two of the seven Vice-Presidents must be women. In order to be eligible as a candidate for President or Vice-President, a candidate must be nominated by five or more MNAs. MNAs may nominate as many or as few candidates as they wish. There is no requirement that the candidate is nominated by his own MNA.

An information letter regarding the procedure for the Election of Officers has been sent to all MNAs.

The Election of ISAF Officers is covered in Articles 73-76 of the ISAF Constitution - www.sailing.org/constitution.

The voting system to elect the ISAF Officers is detailed in ISAF Regulation 4 - www.sailing.org/regulations.

Election Committee

The ISAF Council has appointed the following Election Committee: His Majesty King Constantine - Chair, Jan Dawson (NZL), Peter Siemsen (BRA) and John Tinker (CAN).

The Election Committee shall:

  1. determine whether or not a nominated candidate is eligible for election
  2. publish a list of eligible candidates nominated in accordance with Article 74 together with the names of their nominating Full Members for distribution with the agendas of Council
  3. be responsible for the conduct of the election and the votes taken for the candidates during the meeting of the General Assembly
