For those not familiar with the show, it’s about an under-funded public elementary school in Philadelphia.
The main character, Janine, has been serving time this season with a fellowship, serving the administrative office of Philadelphia’s public school district.
Towards the end of her fellowship she is offered a full-time job with the district office. She initially accepts it but reconsiders when she finds out a student has stopped attending school because “if Ms. Teague doesn’t have to go to school why should he”.
Spurred by how much she is needed and how much she loves the kids she turns down the higher paying district job to return to the classroom.
Love when the media tells us, and the public, we shouldn’t do it for the money and we should be selfless in all we do.
So all you new teachers remember that. You aren’t entitled to a raise. You must always put kids first and not pursue higher paying jobs.

Because Jacob is corny and people poke fun at him. I thought it was stupid as hell and needed to share.
The subreddit for the NBC sitcom Superstore, a comedy about a unique family of employees that work in a big box store!
There are very few sitcoms I like (I’m a huge Seinfeld fan and that’s about it), and I never got into like Parks and Rec or The Office or a lot of shows, but both Superstore and Abbott Elementary I think are excellent
