Destined for the 145 division. Still a bit early for her to face the top names but Megan Anderson is great for us Aussies to believe in

[–]BurtDickinsonfollow me on pictogram 32 points33 points  (1 child)

She is the top name now that Cyborg is probably out for a while.

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points  (1 child)

She's just about the only true 145'er out there.

[–]SkinTape 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Julia Budd is another, but she's in Bellator.

[–]ShadowFoxTrotAustralia 25 points26 points  (17 children)

Wait she's Aussie?!

[–]DaveAPI am the internet. 37 points38 points  (13 children)

Yeap, just lives and trains in the US. Invicta flew out her parents to watch her last fight, first time shes seen them in years

[–]ShadowFoxTrotAustralia 2 points3 points  (12 children)

Yeah for some reason I always associated "Anderson" with Americans.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (9 children)

its the most common swedish surname. but we run it with two S.

[–]ShadowFoxTrotAustralia 8 points9 points  (7 children)

You guys love your S's.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (6 children)

back in the day people was named after their father. if fathers name was John the sons name would be Johnsson, Johns son. Anderson with one S makes little sense to me.

I feel like i don't see dottir as much for women. Is that still used?

[–]pmilbJamaica 2 points3 points  (1 child)

In Iceland it is. Two of the best crossfit chicks on the planet are named Thorisdottir and Davidsdottir

[–]Barnaby_Fuckin_JonesUnited States 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only realized what dottir and son meant after listening to Turið Torkilsdóttir by Tyr and looking up who that person was. I guess the suffix 'son' is obvious and then 'dottir' meaning 'daughter'.

Language is fun.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure when but at some point people stopped naming their kids after the father so from that point entire family would be Andersson etc.

some of the blahblah's-dotter names is still around but rarely seen.

[–]TropicalVision -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Theres an Invicta fighter from Iceland called Davidsdottir. She beautiful too.

I know someone with Anderson for a surname who is from NZ. Not sure how this is helpful I just thought I'd add this haha.

[–]ForceGryphon77 5 points6 points  (2 children)

[–]sbrockLeeofficial Reebok® flair 6 points7 points  (1 child)

[–]AlmostFamous502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking for her mouthguard, it has a logo on it.

[–]dos8s 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought that was just slang for getting a good head kick in, then after a few loops I saw the bloody foot and actually went ew.

[–]Birddawg65 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Wait, wtf happened there? Did her face explode?

[–]PaulTheOctopus3 piece with the soda 23 points24 points  (0 children)

She'd already been bleeding quite profusely. Then, Megan broke her nose.

[–]SUPERKARTRACER 27 points28 points  (5 children)

This girl is a babe, a 6ft woman that makes 145lbs?! She seems so nice and genuine in her interviews, I think that will have to change if she is to make it in the UFC. I hope she shows up with a neck tattoo and immediately calls out RDA after her first fight.

[–]HakeemAbdulOlajubbarnogonnaseeyousoonboiii 14 points15 points  (1 child)

yo she would smoke Dos Anjos easy, give her Nate at 300 lb catchweight instead for a challenge

[–]SUPERKARTRACER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, I knew someone would have my back!

[–]nordik1Jose Waldo 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Reis' opponent this weekend (Sasaki) makes 125 lbs at 5'11 as an adult male.

[–]SUPERKARTRACER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers bro, I was just about to google that

[–]psychIDYLLIC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They gotta throw her on that UFC Kansas City card and get this Women's Featherweight division motherfuckin' rolling.

[–]jebpeterKhabibs smelly hat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should post this in r/bettereveryloop

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (1 child)

She kicked the dye off of her hair! D:

[–]kingofcrobhappy new fucken steroid year 4 points5 points  (0 children)

keen to see her in the UFC, guessing they will bring her over to fight the winner of holm v de randamie pending on how long cyborg's out

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (7 children)

Haven't seen anyone mention it yet but, great stoppage by the ref. Others would've let that continue.

[–]red_beanieTeam Ortega 18 points19 points  (6 children)

no they wouldnt have. she was no longer intelligently defending herself. the fight was over. any mma ref would have stopped the fight as soon as she took the kick, turned her face to the cage, and covered up. it was a good stoppage, but any ref would have done the same.

[–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (3 children)

Steve. Maza. Gatti.

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

AND IT"S ALL... hold on a minute...

[–]pgc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Broken nose, back facing the opponent, yep still good! Keep working!

[–]red_beanieTeam Ortega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

almost...any ref would have done the same.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Maybe. Probably. But I think people here watch mostly UFC, and if someone acted like Tweet did at the stoppage in a UFC fight the ref would let it go longer cos no UFC fighter has that kind of reaction in the highest levels of MMA. It would be too unusual, maybe a momentary lapse and the ref would let it go until something more definitive happened.

You have to remember that Invicta is basically a low level promotion (probably the best for the laaadies) but they still showcase a lot of talent with under 5 fights. Therefore the ref needs to act accordingly and stop the fight sooner than what you would see in an actual UFC championship.

[–]Gen_KaelStreet Jesus Is My Homeboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you even watch the fight? Do you have any idea what the fuck you are talking about?

[–]JS-RainTeam DC 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Would be awesome to see her transfer to the UFC. Although before this fight I saw an interview with her where I thought "You know, she sort of has the same face as Tim Kennedy." and now I can't unsee it.

[–]CreepyConspiracyCatTeam 209 - Real Ninja Shit! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tam Kennedy

[–]deRoyLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job by the ref.

[–]Dr_CleanserLeon is trying to gas Dana out 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking hell that was brutal.

[–]yellow_logic 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Tim Kennedy snuck his way back into MMA.

[–]joyhammerpants 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Didn't he fight a few weeks ago?

[–]friedchocolatesoda[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He fought and then retired from mma a few days later.

[–]joyhammerpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, probably gives him more time to grow his own food and hang out with Alex Jones.

[–]zrollins211296 4 points5 points  (4 children)

I've noticed that fighters turning their back to their opponent when they get hurt is something you see more in WMMA than in MMMA.

[–]ndhl833 piece with the soda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You see it just as often from the men when broken bones are involved. The fellahs are just as smart as the ladies if they've broken an arm/leg/jaw/orbital bone.

[–]telepuziktv -1 points0 points  (15 children)

What did I just see? did she just give up?

[–]SassyButtDragonShe'll Put You Six Feet Down Under 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is actually kind of a theme in people facing Megan. They have a tendency to be like dear Lord, no more.

[–]FraughenyIreland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That she did. It's a pretty reasonable response to your nose exploding I think.

[–]Gen_KaelStreet Jesus Is My Homeboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Watch the whole fight. She almost finished Anderson and kinda tired out then was getting tagged and it led to a flurry of strikes connecting from Anderson. Tweet was bleeding from cuts then that kick to the face exploded/shattered her nose and she turned and covered up. Tweet is a veteran fighter and very game, that must have been excruciating pain.

[–]telepuziktv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that does sound painful, holy shit.
