Chelsea & Jamus arguing again, as usual.

[–]Slow-Boysenberry 27 points28 points  (13 children)

Maybe one day Chelsea will take accountability and stop blaming Jamus for everything 😂

[–]Apple_Slipper[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Listening to her shouting at Jamus for something she did wrong is honestly getting annoying.

[–]wait_wut_how 13 points14 points  (7 children)

It's a sign of a narcissist. I honestly feel sorry for their kids. Hopefully they'll grow up with their dads patience 🤞🏻

[–]jedrevolutia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think she's more control freak. When things went out of her control, she snaps at other people, especially Jamus.

Some other people will experience emotional meltdown at losing control.

She should learn that instead of getting angry or getting upset, she should focus her energy on finding the solution to the problem since there is nothing you can do to change what's already happening.

It might be edited but they can only show what happens, even if there are lots of times they are lovely to each other there is still this shrieking ugliness.

    [–]BruhM0mentoMori 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah editing does a lot but I feel like literally half the episode is just them arguing, it's not like 1 or 2 scenes

    [–]wait_wut_how 3 points4 points  (1 child)

    Oh I know!

    [–]glider521al 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know that things are edited a lot to highlight drama..
Though trying to scapegoat Jamus like that to all the teams as they past; made me very uncomfortable.

    [–]sootysweepnsoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edited yes, but she is still the one saying the terrible things she has said to him and screaming at him. Even if they have edited out him being the same way toward her, all that tells us is they have an extremely toxic relationship.

    [–]jedrevolutia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chelsea reminds me a lot of Flo from TAR US S3.

    [–]TomArday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People like her rarely, if ever, change.

    [–]cdfe88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, right at the finale it will be the one time Chelsea fully puts her trust in Jamus, and he will royally f-up

    [–]txvoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watching now, and OMG, she is such a gaslighter. I hope he watches this and sees how she flips every situation on him. She's toxic.

    [–]louddwnunder 14 points15 points  (2 children)

She is actually emotionally abusive to him and I find it really uncomfortable to watch. I really hope that seeing herself and her behaviour horrifies her and makes her really work on her method of dealing with stress. If the roles were reversed and Jamus was verbally abusing Chelsea in this manner, the entire viewership would be calling for his head. Just because she’s a woman doesn’t excuse it.

    [–]sootysweepnsoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won’t horrify her. She won’t see a thing wrong with her behavior.

    [–]pantaloonjohnny 8 points9 points  (11 children)

I don't want to be wrong, for Jamus' sake, but after a few weeks I felt like they're playing it up for the screen a lot of the time?

They haven't totally broken down, and there are many moments where they look genuinely happy to be there and together. They've also been engaged for ten years if that says something

And the episode where Chelsea forgot the bags and they had to go get it back, she didn't blame Jamus as much as I thought she would? Compared to other arguments like in this ep, I felt like she would've

And they aren't mean to or mad at the other teams too.

I do feel sorry for Jamus but these thoughts help me feel better about them lol

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Chelsea did mention that she is a property manager, and Jamus is her assistant. She probably does all of the commanding.

    [–]sociallydistantpatsy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Christ those 2 are a train wreck.. She is a overgrown toddler and it's just painful to watch.. Can't imagine what their friends and family are thinking.. Hope that poor blokes looks back at the show and runs..

    [–]muxbossgirl 2 points3 points  (8 children)

this. feels forced for the sake of TV, if iy were real they wouldn't have been together this long.

    [–]pantaloonjohnny 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Exactly, and if Chelsea is really that terrible to Jamus I thought she'd be horrible to everyone else. But no, she's actually super nice to them. And that niceness comes off way more naturally than the arguing. It feels like they break character. I don't know how someone that shitty to someone would be so kind to literally everyone else.

I know it looks very bad, and I understand why people are mad. I think that's what Chelsea and the show are going for. It's an edited show, where bickering couples are tropes. And I mean, look at their intro shot. They know their role.

If it was clear that Jamus is so unhappy with Chelsea, I'd be totally concerned and hateful as well. But it's not clear. It's an edited show, and there's more than ten years of their relationship we haven't been seeing. I don't want to take away anything from that.

If I'm wrong, then I'll feel extremely bad and sorry to Jamus. But now, there are honestly far worse things to hate.

    [–]sootysweepnsoo 1 point2 points  (2 children)

People who have manipulative and narcissistic traits to them can EASILY do this. Extremely Jekyll and Hyde and people find it so difficult to believe how awful that person can be because they present so wonderfully to everyone except their victim.

    [–]txvoodoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIS. I grew up the child of a narcissistic person. No one would believe how she was to me, because she was very popular with others, and very good at her job in a public-facing role. She had one way with them, and another with me.

    [–]pantaloonjohnny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God, I feel like a total asshole for not knowing that. Thanks for letting me know about this. I'll be warier from now on.

    [–]PBFoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re not getting is that Chelsea might be a nice person to other people. They don’t get to see the real Chelsea. Janus gets the real Chelsea because of that 10 years. She is toxic and he chooses to allow that for whatever reason. It does take two to tango so maybe he likes being dominated but that certainly doesn’t excuse her behaviour.

    [–]sootysweepnsoo 0 points1 point  (2 children)

this. feels forced for the sake of TV, if iy were real they wouldn't have been together this long.

It’s not difficult to believe that their relationship really is this bad and has lasted this long. Plenty of people remain in terribly abusive and dysfunctional relationships for a multitude of reasons, especially when children are involved. And even in these awful relationships there are the moments when everything seems okay, just like the times we see them getting along and even being affectionate to one another. That is another reason why these relationships endure, because often the abused partner focuses on the few good times rather than the many bad times. Jamus looks to be someone totally beaten down.

    [–]txvoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After time with a person like this, you start to believe that they're right, and you are always at fault. It's a horrible thing.

    [–]pantaloonjohnny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right. I feel so so stupid for focusing too much on the good moments and for hoping for the best. I'm honestly so ashamed.

    [–]Velocisexual 27 points28 points  (2 children)

Chelsea is the most toxic woman to appear on the show since Flo. The fact that she keeps lucking out of being eliminated because of just 1 other team being worse at a task or screwing up somehow is utterly infuriating.

    [–]jedrevolutia 9 points10 points  (1 child)

That leg when she just snapped and said she wanted to leave the race is a classic Flo move. It's not like it is over for them as they never come last, but she acted as if there was no more hope for them. Very very Flo!

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's basically the Flo of TAR Australia.

    [–]CreswickOctober 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Vale Scott Tweedie, I'm a little disappointed he didn't get a proper send off on the show but I guess we just got pranked by the prank patrol

    [–]glider521al 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Here's hoping he appears in the final legs (or at least the final pitstop with all the teams); that would give a nice sense of closure.

He was such a good host in a short amount of time on the job.

    [–]producermaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought he was a great host. Better than beau imo

    [–]jedrevolutia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was expecting him to co-welcome racers at this pit stop with Beau, especially since there was no greeter at all this leg.

    [–]Cloncurry_fan 18 points19 points  (6 children)

Chelsea and Jamus: this leg we're going to be calm and not fight

Also Chelsea and Jamus: at each others throats within the first 20 minutes

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Yep. Knew that they weren't going to keep that promise for long.

    [–]glider521al 7 points8 points  (3 children)

"Fighting does not work for us..."
    [One ad break later]
    The scapegoating begins :(

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I hope this season serves Chelsea a lesson to not berate Jamus all of the time.

    [–]jedrevolutia 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I don't see the point why they shouted at each other about who gave the cake to the kids. Those teams at the back of the pack got valuable information. If I were them, I would lie and say that I need to make more cakes because some of them accidentally dropped. That way, other teams may unknowingly repeat the same mistake and they could be leading again.

    [–]txvoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Chelsea wants to establish that she's the one in the right and it's all Jamus' fault.

    [–]TomArday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really Jamus. He just defends himself from Chelsea’s ugly attacks. She is abusive to him and should be booted from the show.

    [–]KellyandGeorgia 13 points14 points  (1 child)

60 minute episode with only a few teams, crazy the difference it makes. Awesome pacing on this ep!

Glad for our sake it was 20 teams, better chance of getting cast 😂

    [–]ValuePsychological74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And get to see more of the stunning locations and teams doing the challenges, which have been awesome!

    [–]DashinglyDashing2 30 points31 points  (3 children)

Beau days out of isolation and smothers himself all over the charity lady. DID YOU LEARN NOTHING BEAU

    [–]lola1973lola 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, that poor man just can’t grasp the concept: Covid= Do not touch!

    [–]its_real_I_swear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having just had it, he is less likely than ever to get it again.

    [–]sootysweepnsoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It surprises me that producers haven’t given everyone on the show explicit instructions to not hug other people.

    [–]DashinglyDashing2 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Chelsea & Jamus are like a caricature of bickering TAR couples.

    [–]bdiddlediddles 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of a role reversed Jonathan and Victoria

    [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jonathan & Victoria was still a far, far worse team than Chelsea & Jamus.

    [–]jedrevolutia 11 points12 points  (7 children)

So, two returning teams went home this week, so you can actually skip all three episodes and won't change anything.

Btw, why there is no speed bump for Heath and Toni?

    [–]ChildofKnight 5 points6 points  (4 children)

why there is no speed bump for Heath and Toni

Because they didn't deserve one with the pathetic time penalty the cheaters and quitters received?

    [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Then why gave the returning team speed bumps?

    [–]ChildofKnight 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Shit, the returning teams should of received 1 speed bump for every leg they missed. LOL.

    [–]of_patrol_bot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

    [–]muxbossgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    this!

    [–]literally-a-yak 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The other team (aunt & niece) didn't get a speed bump either. They're just not doing them (apart from the quarantine returnees). Not great, butit doesn't bother me as much as other things, since the original TAR seasons didn't have penalties either.

    [–]jedrevolutia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should really explain the logic of giving speed bumps to returning teams but not to the saved teams.

    [–]CreswickOctober 11 points12 points  (4 children)

5 teams left for next week and we're gonna see a race favourite eliminated

They're all favourites at this point - those 5 especially are top tier casting and have delivered in their own ways all season

    [–]magikarpcatcher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They're all favourites at this point

I don't particularly care for Chelsea & Jamus.

    [–]pantaloonjohnny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It will be sad. It's still just the OGs and we've bonded with them the most now. Was so disappointed to see none of the isolating teams return yet.

    [–]pakoandmori 3 points4 points  (1 child)

    FACTS!!!!

    [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    👏🕺🕺

    [–]CreswickOctober 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Chelsea and Jamus finishing a task in first is a sight to see, I love it

    [–]bdiddlediddles 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Holy hell, what a stuff up!

    [–]CreswickOctober 13 points14 points  (1 child)

    I spoke too soon

    [–]glider521al 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me: They seem content, maybe this is the one leg there's no arguments, good :) ...
    Also me: I was wrong : (

    [–]YungSigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surely it’ll get them points somewhere along the line? It was kind of them to give out the arepas but damn, they didn’t read the clue haha

    [–]irl_Juvia 9 points10 points  (4 children)

This is definitely the fastest they've ever spoiled the elimination through the editing in any version of the race.

Managing to do it on literally the first frame of the episode is really something else

    [–]SagginBartender 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Wait I missed it, what happened?!

    [–]irl_Juvia 7 points8 points  (2 children)

There was a TW saying the episode would feature images of dead people from the eliminated team's community.

    [–]ValuePsychological74 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Who died? Or where did they show dead people?

    [–]irl_Juvia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was like an image of one of their parents while they were still alive.

    [–]yeezyfanboy 7 points8 points  (5 children)

I'm not super clued in on the US amazing race so correct me if I'm wrong, but is it unusual that there are so many tasks that are neither detours or roadblocks?

My understanding was that usually either it was a roadblock where one person did the task or it was a detour where they both did the task but got to choose between two options. Tasks where both racers had to participate were usually either really simple (like "drive to this location and pick up the next clue") or the one right before the finish line.

In TAR AU most of the tasks seem to require both team members without being a detour

    [–]bdiddlediddles 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Yeah its pretty unusual. I suspect that these tasks were supposed to be roadblock or detour but due to lack of teams, they just merged them.

      [–]ValuePsychological74 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ahh yes, sounds likely. Am sure heaps of stress and juggling went on behind the scenes. So sad for the season, covid has really stuffed it! Surely the only reason they did the two starts and so many teams was because of it. Shame so much criticism when really we are lucky to get a season at all. But all in all I’m still a fan. The locations and challenges have been enjoyable to watch, especially loved the seeing the lovely locals in last few eps. Hope that doesn’t mean the end…

      [–]planeray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering if it's because of all the teams in quarantine?

      [–]Fyrefly75 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely shocked by Chelsea's disgusting, NASTY attitude & behaviour! I am so scared for their kids!! This is when she KNOWS she's on camera ...what the heck is she like behind closed doors!??? How on Earth does Jamus put up with her? She's beyond toxic. SMH!!!

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

      • Pako & Mori: "The salsa gods are with us!"
      • Pitstop: Teams make their way to Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas. Teams must walk through the marked tunnel to get the top. If not, Beau will send teams back to run through the tunnel. The last team to check in may be eliminated.

      [–]glider521al 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heart-warming extended motivational flash back at the kids community centre.

[while watching] well it was really nice knowing you:Stuart and Glennon

      [–]cheekyparasite 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Feeding the children must be one of the most rewarding legs I've seen so far. It was so emotional to watch

      [–]ValuePsychological74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, gorgeous. Reminded me of the lovely leg in the village in Africa a few seasons ago.

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Agreed. Super wholesome!

      [–]reticulatedtampon 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I agree with the consensus that one of the biggest issues with this season is too many teams, and think these past couple of legs (11 and 12) have proved it.

The key to the success of the show is facilitating viewers to form parasocial relationships with teams, becoming genuinely emotionally invested in their successes and failures. It can't happen unless we get to spend time with them. With 5 teams out because of COVID isolation, we got to see the same 6 teams for two episodes straight and it felt like got to connect with them A LOT more. I don't think I've cared about who goes home or not as much as I have in these last two legs in Colombia.

      [–]ValuePsychological74 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Perhaps they needed another split leg each before they merged.

      [–]reticulatedtampon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea! Maybe even more than one.

      [–]muxbossgirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i agree. the "herd" at the beginning was so overwhelming and a lot of the deserving teams got lost in the screen-time.

      [–]Grapefruitseeds123 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Jamus needs to leave Chelsea, what a disgustingly abusive person.

      [–]KingoftheHill63 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Even that guy that was helping the teams cook those pancake things was looking sorry for Jamus. 😢

      [–]zaprod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wish I could give more than one upvote, she’s gotta be in the top 5 of worst people/partners in TAR history

      [–]KellyandGeorgia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wow I wish we could have been apart of this leg, looks like an incredible experience with the kids.

      [–]DuckyDude07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’m really trying to root for u chelsea but ur not giving me much to work with lol

Jamus always looks like he’s having a fun time. He seems like a genuine happy person, even with Chelsea down his throat 😂

      [–]TheZanyCat 16 points17 points  (6 children)

HE ACTUALLY FUCKiNG HUGGED THEM. What an actual fucking flog. You would think himself and HALF OF THE REMAINING TEAMS getting Covid would maybe require a bit of caution?

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I understand what you mean about that. In an interview about TAR Australia Season 4 back in 2019, Beau was asked on why he hugs teams at the Pitstop. Beau said that he was "an emotional guy", hence why he hugs teams.

      [–]glider521al 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I still remember the group hug he got all the teams to form around Viv & Joey that season (who also happened to be the shortest contenders cast)!

      [–]Justin32526jshx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d rather see beau as a contestant than a host

      [–]jedrevolutia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He hugged the teacher and the kids as well. 😲

      [–]CreswickOctober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      He's a hugger

      [–]ValuePsychological74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same thought, but figured it is the safest time for him as his immunity would be high after just having it, and would have got the all clear.

      [–]YungSigma 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Oh my GOD the $20,000 in one sale holy shit 😂

      [–]jedrevolutia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

20,000 Colombian Peso is just 6.75 Australian Dollars. That was super easy.

      [–]planeray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, it was a pretty smart strategy when you don't speak the language.

      [–]Apple_Slipper[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Smart method by Heath & Toni!

      [–]CreswickOctober 4 points5 points  (4 children)

It is weird that there's just no NEL penalty this year

      [–]ValuePsychological74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been a fan of them to be honest. Especially on the US one when they used to take their leg money off them and make them beg for money, especially in the poorer countries. It was uncomfortable viewing. Even if no extra task I figure they start last which in itself is a disadvantage.

      [–]magikarpcatcher 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I dont think there was one last season either.

      [–]cdfe88 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The first place at a NEL won the right to skip the following leg and then they had to choose between the bottom two one would get an advantage and the other would get a disadvantage.

      [–]magikarpcatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      I forgot this mess.

      [–]CreswickOctober 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Angel & Frankie nail the dance and win the leg I will be screaming

      [–]CreswickOctober 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Beau's been back for two minutes and he's already brought the cringe

      [–]RagsTTiger 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Yeah the eggplant joke was 🤦🏻‍♂️

      [–]CreswickOctober 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What does it even mean? Is it a dick joke??

      [–]RagsTTiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume so. Unless eggplants are funny for another reason

      [–]cdfe88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His sendoff to Stuart and Glennon sounded so tainted with privilege, then again the guys also had a pretty cringe moment at the arts center calling the kids there unfortunate

      [–]Phonixrmf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      I expected nothing less

      [–]bdiddlediddles 2 points3 points  (4 children)

My prediction: Pako and Mori going home

      [–]planeray 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Dunno - we got to see some of Stuart and Glennon's background, so pretty good chance there...

      [–]bdiddlediddles 2 points3 points  (1 child)

      I think you're right!

      [–]planeray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

      Sadly right!

      [–]muxbossgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, i hope so. Pako makes me want to turn off my TV. I do love Mori tho, he's so sweet.

      [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      No pitstop greeter tonight

      [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I thought Beau was gonna tell them they went through the wrong tunnel

      [–]CreswickOctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beau is literally talking to himself at this point

      [–]SagginBartender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Race favorite eliminated" the wording on this is so cringe. Dont tell me who is a favorite Sir. Let me determine if the team is worthy of my favoritism lol.

      [–]muxbossgirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the quarantine thing is just unfair to other teams i feel like. i loved all 3 episodes of this week and i am so happy beau is back haha! the other guy was hot to look at but thats about it, he read scripts like i used to cram stuff back in school 🤣 just no. ps: when will pako be eliminated? (just him not morri, haha) same goes for Angel iykwim 🙉 Jamus and Chelsea are my fave lol.

      [–]jedrevolutia 4 points5 points  (2 children)

The selling task is very easy.

20,000 COP is just 6.7 AUD or 4.5 USD

      [–]magikarpcatcher 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah, Heath & Toni spent 2 mins on it.

      [–]ValuePsychological74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems they were very lucky to find, and sweet talk, those tourists, the locals wouldn’t have paid that much for one banana. I thought it was good strategy by them and Health thought of it off the bat.

      [–]Didubringabeeralong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      What an f'n bitch

      [–]sootysweepnsoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mori sounds like he is Chilean by the way he speaks Spanish.

Chelsea and Jamus are a ridiculously toxic pairing. Just seeing the way Chelsea blows up at Jamus it wouldn’t surprise me if she is physically abusive to him. It would be too optimistic to say that I hope that seeing the footage will help to make positive changes in their relationship because someone like Chelsea will never are that they are in the wrong. All she could do was blame Jamus for every little thing.

It has amazed 🤣 me how in every leg, Angel’s appearance has remained impeccable even in this leg with Cartagena’s heat and humidity.

      [–]5takan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Seeing all these negative comments about Chelsea & Jamus, I feel the need to counter-balance that and show some appreciation for, what is in my opinion, one of the most entertaining teams still remaining.

I really appreciate having Chelsea & Jamus on my screen. They have been one of my favorites since the start, and continue to deliver fun moments. They clearly aren't the best racers, but that's what makes them unique and a delight to watch. The fact that they gave away some of their food was such a wholesome moment. It is really nice to see these human moments from the teams. It is clear that they have a deep love for each other, despite all their bickering. They never cross the line of being really ugly and in most cases, I think they come off more comical than anything.

Hope they stay til the end!

      [–]sociallydistantpatsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

      OK chelsea

      [–]muxbossgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me too! i love them..The race would be soooo boring without them now that most of the competitive teams have either been eliminated or are quarantined.

      [–]ToQ-1go 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a fun team. I like them much more than most of the teams.

      [–]Justin32526jshx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Chelsea made the episode great. They need to start casting more people that get into fights than teams that get along. It’s reality tv not friends

      [–]muxbossgirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yassss!!!!! how is everyone helping each other a competitive race? smh
